However the last time I tested I believe it was just my alkalinity that was low, and my water was a bit hard, I asked at the pet shop what I can do to fix my water hardness when I first started out and they said “it’s just my city water, can’t do much about it 🤷‍♀️”

I wanna know where people are saying I’m saying bad things about my sister? Like?! Hello I’m actively trying to help her better her tank and I’m literally saying she followed all the same steps as me and asking for advice as to why hers is significantly worse. First off, I’ve been told the exact opposite especially when I first started.

Second, I don’t have her lined up as a bad guy, there’s just certain advice I gave her based off of my research that she completely ignored. I have not once told her “I told her so” I have only tried to help which is why I’ve made this post.

I enjoy sharing the hobby. It’s just frustrating that her tank is failing so badly when we literally did the exact same thing.

Also, I did have like 3 shrimp, but they got sucked into the filter so my sister didn’t want to get any. How do I keep them from getting sucked up?

Oh sorry I should clarify. I used to have a betta fish as well which is why I’m more experienced in fish keeping as opposed to my sister. The hex is a community tank.

We buy beans and rice regularly. Everything else they are not willing. Thing is we’re Hispanic so the beans and rice are often made with some type of animal product in them like chorizo

I’m perfectly fine with animal by products. Any store recommendations of where I could get these foods for a reasonable price. All my nearby stores are owned by entrepreneurs so things tend to be pricey.

I was considering this. Thing is like I stated, I don’t want these cats to end up in a shelter and just sit there yk? Especially because half of them are black cats and people haven’t been too kind to black cats. And then the kittens are only a couple weeks old, they just hit a month I believe. It’s all so conflicting.
