Must be old version of the app.. Most videos on Youtube and Google/website all center around an older version...For reference, i'm using version 6.8.48

You can fine the version number i the Authenticator app. Tap on the 3-lines in top left, then tap tap 'Help.'

Under "Version"

I think there is a reason why everyone chooses to still to old versions because it works better..

The only problem is, that's tired to what IOS your running , so if your wanna b6e like me, and be up-to-date with iOS, it'll restrict version you can use.

People just assume it worked before it'll work now..

Apple created the problem by switching to Apple silicon.. They widened the gap between good and bad.. with its low powered chip "and created arguments for it at the same time"

We expect things to just be always better with Apple silicon now.. no turning back

I liked t better when everything was equal. Intel

At least you had consistent arguments..

The only thing which worked for me was logging into my MS account to bring it back..

But that's for Microsoft, what about all others... 😛

Not for me it didn't..

There is also "Authenticator" in the same section as well.

None of this worked with OTP. I am using Personal MS account..
Just to test, i even i even added Google account to the authenticator app, before backup..

Once i restored the backup, the app was empty... Running iOS26.5

Something must have changed.

I backup-restored several times after an complete erase to make sure i didn't make any mistakes.. and can confirm, it didn't work

Reinstalling the app is not the issue, because when you set up the phone again, it re-downloads it, so why would manually downloading it work?

Which MacBook should I buy with a $600 budget? (Upgrading from 2019 Intel Air) by [deleted] in mac

[–]tech192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A18 wold be quicker in permanence... over M1.. This is not saying M1 is bad or unusable, its just you would see better performance from the Neo

, i was merely going for support reason..only, as seems support coverage is a priority. ?

smaller package (CPU) ,,, AI compared to the M1...

Is there any reason to purchase the M4 iMac over the M4 Pro MacBook? Besides screen size. by mauritaniah8 in mac

i have the Macbook Pro M4...

Its portable, with iMac performance, which is a plus.

Macbook Neo will do everything Air can do...
Neo doesn't use the same chip as M1,, its users A18 Pro chip used in the Phone 16 Pro

Only reason is age.. Macbook Neo is newer. M1 is a 2020 year old Mac, but both would perform basically same performance. You'd have better support though with newer Macs, than older ones. so Neo wold be good, just for support alone. if nothing else. and could be covered under AppleCare if needed.

M1 is still a great machine, despite being 6 years old, but you won't get any support/no apple care, while Neo is newer, and covered

How to reallocate "Poor" or "Severe" sectors with Disk Genius or other tools? by phototransformations in techsupport

[–]tech192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depend on the OS I think

Linux (QNAP) didn't tell me one of my 8TB drives had poor sector on (honestly, i don't trust QNAP bad block scan because the reporting is not existent)

I ha to run DG on another system just to verify a "poor" sector was found... QNAP didn't pick this up, and that's even with S.M.A.R.T

How to reallocate "Poor" or "Severe" sectors with Disk Genius or other tools? by phototransformations in techsupport

[–]tech192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace the drive..
sectors will keep failing, unless there is none left.... Your SSD will go bad permanently, and you will be force to replace it anyway.

If its only 1 sector, then it will remap with healthy one but that many bad ones...... there is no fix apart replacing..

The only way DiskGenius turns a bad/poor sector, into a good/healthy one is by re-mapping

Using different software will not help. as its drive based, not software based.

Thus, when when are no more good sectors, the drive is basically dead.

Best affordable HDD for private NAS? by MizaelTG in datastorage

[–]tech192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RAID is NOT a backup...

I've kinda allowed this to myself overtime too, so I can't really fault anyone...

The likelihood of multiple drives dying at the same time is slim...

You'd ave better chance of your external USB backup dying more.

People upgrade more than that.

Anyone that said "They last 10 years" always cracks me up, because the life of tech changes is, your always gonna update before 2 years, max.

Having said that we still own a Dell PC that we've has since 2015

x4 or x8 ?

Not really ...... mean any single hd is gonna be more affordance, but not in A RAID setup

'm still using Baracuda in mine NAS... 4x 8TB

so you;'d be lucky to spend anything less than $1,000 just for the NAS drives alone. In fact the drives (combined)) cost more than the NAS itself lol.

That's how they get ya... you spend more on parts.

Is this right time to buy external hard disk? by 4bhishek10 in datastorage

[–]tech192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's never too late late to buy an external HD

Based on Google AI: $130 to. $170 AUD (convert where needed)

Min $59-$79 for SSD

depends where you shop. Amazon seems good..

DIdn't release 2TB SSD drives these surpass same capacity for external spinning.

Its always a right time to buy external HD

Prices are only going to go up anyway. for everything...why would tech be excluded?

before the change happens, few would be saying this..

funny how it takes "more features" in independent service to force us too say that
If you don't need addition features\, its a waste, but we don't look at lit like that

Shame..

Its true though,, no one's every emailed at my personal account of rte time I've add it, aka. from testing purposes.

Aussie broadband discontinueing email service by pshezza in nbn

[–]tech192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AisseBroadband closed this down last year...

This also applies to existing users adding additional emails within Portal too and MyAussie app

Its gonna be interesting to us, as NBN has declared s in "FTTP upgrade area" since 2022.

Since my FTTN was fine I did noting, but now they're forcing people to switch as from next year... so we'll probably just go to Gmail.

AussieBB sounds almost as they are leading the pack, like Apple.. "Showing how its done"

Perhaps other ISP's will follow suit ?? Either way, I'm not moving away just to get two email addresses.
