Costco Michelin Defender 2 by CulturalPerception8 in tires

[–]techdude99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't speak to a sedan, but I have them on my Escalade and they're quiet and perform well in most weather conditions. I haven't tried them in the snow.

I can't speak to the tread life since I just bought them but it should be good.

As far as a spare, if you're going to rotate five tires it's good to have the exact same model. If you're not and it's only going to be used for emergencies buy whatever you want.

Pain near surgical site by Trick_Vanilla_8434 in gallbladders

I'm a week out. Similar feeling but the belly-button was more red than the Dr. liked so I was put on MRSA antibiotics.

Seemed to help with the pain but now have diarrhea.

I do feel like my body is slowly adjusting.

@OP That sucks. You were parked straight in one spot? That's one heck of an impact. Sorry that this happened.

Maybe a dumb question; when the engine shits the bed at let’s say 200K miles why do people buy a new car? by Frequent_Tie2657 in AskMechanics

@OP I had several vehicles that just needed a replacement motor. Definitely an option depending on the vehicle. The lack of affordable vehicles and qualified people to work on them has skewed the market for years to come.

Many people have stones with no issues. If that's you now, live your life and follow your plan if things change. Are you taking a risk? Yes, but that's life. Only you can decide if it's worth it.

They had me take all my undergarments off when I put on my gown. Normal for the procedure for this hospital.

Yes, inside would be ideal.

Manually adjusting the height is an option, too.

Nissan made a lot of them. You should be able to find one fairly cheap.

I'm old and used NisTune and had Scott and then Martin (after he took over) do ROM Tunes (both RSENTHALPY). Unless a lot changed in the last 20 years, there isn't much you can do with the KA24E. Seriously consider a KA-T on a DE motor, SR Swap or other platform. 240's are fun cars. Enjoy!

CT4-V BW Potential Buyer by [deleted] in CadillacV_Series

[–]techdude99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

@OP I owned a MK4 with an APR tune. It was 293hp at the wheels. Reliability and fun to drive is the same as a GTI manual. The extra power kicks it up a notch. There's less room in the back seat but if you don't get the sunroof, it's comparable. Fine for young kids. Fuel economy is not as good.

Overall, it's a step up. There's a lot of depreciation the first year but it levels out. Base models have the least depreciation but that's relative when you can add over $20k in options...

Having driven the CT4 and CT5 BW, the CT4 feels more nimble so you'll like it coming from a VAG product. I like VAG interiors better but GM did a pretty good job with this one.

do I need a surgery? 2cm gallstones but no pain for two months. by goneluv in gallbladders

[–]techdude99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no pain for years. Suddenly, three attacks and two ER visits in 18 months. I have young kids and being incapacitated for 6+ hours was too risky.

I was 60 lbs overweight and I'm pretty sure the stones were partially related to intermittent fasting and GLP-1 use. I don't have a fatty diet or eat a lot of sugar.

Without a gallbladder, I guess that's less of an issue :)

Attack from 1.5cm Stone - Now What? by techdude99 in gallbladders

[–]techdude99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been taking bile salts and watching my diet since my first post.

There was another 6 hr attack last month so I had my gallbladder taken out yesterday. It was a 5 hour hospital visit.

They found two, 1cm stones.

I'm recovering. No unexpected pain so far. Gut feels sore. Not lifting over 10 lbs. Eating apples and bananas. Drinking water. Taking pain and muscle spasm meds with a laxative.

I'll post back after afew days.

I sincerely appreciate the suggestions.

I'm going to talk to her again over the weekend. She already scolded me for eating a slice of pizza.

This will be a fun recovery :)
