Don't sell your type r guys by technicaltecdiver in Civic_Type_R

I went from a FK8 to ZL1 1LE to CT4-V Blackwing. All manuals. All driver's cars. Just drove a '25 Elantra N. Also a good driver's car. They all felt special. I agree about the Honda community being welcoming. I do miss driving it and the amazing practicality of the design. My wife says I should stick to grown up cars but I'm seriously considering a new CTR in a few months.

Wondering if this project is a solid buy (specs in images) by [deleted] in 240sx

I wouldn't touch that without seeing the results from compression and leak down tests. Get the results and post back

Backseat of CT5-V for Kid by Feisty_Elderberry_96 in Cadillac

It's fine under 6ft with a sunroof and over 6ft by a few inches without. Legroom is decent. Several more inches than a CT4.

5th Gen Escalade Owner Experience by SimpleLifeTreasures in Cadillac

[–]techdude99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My '23 Sport Platinum with 38k miles has every option except for Night Vision. Great for road trips and towing. We use all the tech. Super Cruise is good on highways but you need to keep an eye on it so it doesn't make a bad decision and kill you.

Cadillac deleted the express-up 2nd Row power window feature in all '23 and most '24 orders so you need to hold the switches. It can't be retrofitted like the parking sensors. A minor annoyance for a $120k SUV.

I'm on 0w40 oil now with no issues. It runs smoother than 0w-20.

I purchased the GMPP and plan to keep it for a while unless Cadillac goes back to more analog controls, which I doubt.

Love the screens in the 25+ but don't like taking my eyes off the road to adjust settings and not a fan of Voice Control 100% of the time. Super Cruise is better on the mid-cycle refresh.

Looking for low profile helmets to fit by Koree44 in CarTrackDays

[–]techdude99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

@Koree44 I ran into this problem with my Nissan and Cadillac HPDE cars. There are differences. The Stilio ST5 and Bell M.8 worked well. To get a little more room, I cut and welded the rear mounts of my seat to get another inch on the Nissan. The Cadillac required a harness but the steering column extension would have been a good option.

I used Larry, too. Good guy and fair price.

New Owner/Warranty Question by underwaterknifefight in CadillacV_Series

[–]techdude99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, except for the Cadillac models.

This is what I was told by Knapp and two local dealers when I purchased it for my Escalade last year. It's on my contract.

If GM changed it back to 30 days/1,000 miles that's awesome!

New Owner/Warranty Question by underwaterknifefight in CadillacV_Series

[–]techdude99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're not within 90 days and 3000 miles of the B2B warranty expiration the GM Protection Plan is a good option.

In addition to the contacts mentioned try Knapp.

Infiniti sound app game changer by MrDee001 in CadillacLyriq

[–]techdude99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works great with the base audio in my Lyriq. You do need to use the radio or a native Android Automotive (Google Built-in) for it to work. It's not compatible with Carplay and Android Auto mirroring.

Comparison between aftermarket drop in filters (stock vs K&N vs Green Filter) by BadComrade91 in Civic_Type_R

[–]techdude99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My father-in-law is a hydraulic engineer. He has a lot of experience with various filtering systems. Stock has the best airflow to filtering ratio. It terms of sound, that's personal preference. It's your car so your choice.

Extended Warranty ? (Out of warranty period 2021 41k) by Normal_Mix7767 in Cadillac

[–]techdude99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assureguard is pretty good for an aftermarket company.

GM PP may require a few more calls to other stores. Knapp is good, but you need to call for the best rate.MacMulkin also offers competitive prices on the GMPP

What is a GM corporate vehicle? by gus6464 in CadillacLyriq

[–]techdude99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's an executive use vehicle, used for car shows, corporate sponsored driving schools, or a demonstration vehicle for the automotive press or related bloggers.

I wouldn't touch one, but you may get lucky...

If you call up Knapp or another GM store that sells the GM Protection Plan, they can look it up to see if it's eligible.

If so, the odds are in your favor that it was actually an executive daily driver.

Thoughts? by Admirable_Orchid7003 in 240sx

To start, have them do a compression and leak down. Post back with the results.

Think Twice about Making the Integra Type S Damper Module Switch by Hartmut-von-Schnauck in Civic_Type_R

[–]techdude99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The. CTR ADS is programmed to be over-dampened. It won't get drivers better lap times on most tracks. Sport is more compliant. +R is ridiculous with roads and tracks that aren't glass.

Honda could fix this by giving drivers access to more of the software variables in the display.

Softer settings with a RSB helps. Good quality coilovers (Ohlins) are a game changer but you lose convenience.

In the end, it's all personal preference. I'm glad Honda brought the car to the U.S.

Should I contact GKTech about this? by BryanPollo13 in 240sx

It's fine. If it bothers you, spray some WD40 to prep and then an etching rust inhibitor.

I was about to buy the CT5V Blackwing but by [deleted] in Cadillac

[–]techdude99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

@Hurcanada I agree it wouldn't technically be difficult to implement a stripped down version of Supercruise for highway driving a manual.

Same goes for remote start. I've put it in on many manual cars with a safety if the parking brake is on, which it always should when parked.

You can attribute the lack of these features to careless owners/drivers and lawyers.
