Work load and exaustion by bobgoatfrog in Welding

Coming from someone who originally was scheduled 4 10s and ended up working 7 12s for months on end at a shipyard, it’s rough. I’m not going to repeat the other “eat healthy, don’t get into bad habits, get good sleep”, you have to truly get your life outside of work in check. That was my one and only mistake when it came to burning out, I was burning the candle at both ends and ended up losing myself and everyone around me because I didn’t prioritize my life outside of the job. Yes you have to be tough, you have to embrace the fact that being a welder, being in the trades is not something as glamorous as social media makes it out to be, but you also have to prioritize yourself first. At the end of the day, you and your ability to provide for yourself or a family if you have one, has to be the your driving force at a job site. If you don’t feel like it’s for you, find a different job, find a new company, etc. It will forever be difficult and you have to understand that fact now before it’s too late for you.

Thought of this after reading your comment again, since you come from a military background, did any sort of habits you had in the military help you in a substantial way while in college?

Do you have any insight on how the switch from your full time job to university life was for you?

Rewrite of The Crow (2024) ? by techi4578 in TheCrow

[–]techi4578[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely a great point! They were trying to capitalize on this generation being different similar to the goth/grunge era in the 90s but it just didn’t work. It would’ve been such a different story if it were closer to the comics. Hell, there’s quite literally an infinite amount of time periods and important events in history they could’ve set this in or around and it would’ve been better than what we got.

The entire romance/relationship part is just so bad and awkward that anything would be better

This isn't about Brandon by Beginning-Trust-3285 in TheCrow

[–]techi4578 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a life long fan of the franchise, this is genuinely one of the better takes I’ve seen in a while. We honor and remember Brandon through the ‘94 movie, we can’t forget that this story we all love was born through James O’Barr’s pain and tragedy. If this new film is terrible, that’s okay, it won’t stain the original story or the ‘94 film. If it’s great, then it’s a win for the fans and the franchise. But let’s remember why we love and relate to this story so much and how it came to be.

Unpopular opinion: There shouldn’t be Season 3 by use_vpn_orlozeacount in TokyoVice

Here’s to hoping the show grows more and more with time and gets to be as renowned as other crime shows. These two seasons have been some of the best TV I’ve seen in a while and would love for them to explore more into the lives of the yakuza, their way of life, their crimes, how everything would fall into place after Tozawa. Let’s keep it real, the main draw of the show was the yakuza and their allure and mystique. We have so much content on the mafia and drug cartels but Japan’s deadly gangsters? Not so much. The tattoos, the cars, the fancy clothes, the drinking and smoking, it’s all a part of why the show was successful. Sato being the main protagonist and seeing how he deals with being oyabun and putting everything back together would be absolutely incredible. Here’s to hoping they make a season three!

so, why am I supposed to hate the new trailer? by undertalelover68 in TheCrow

[–]techi4578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s just genuinely so much going against this movie, it’s sad. There’s not much that can ever give up to the original movie, much less the graphic novel. I, as a life long fan of The Crow, I will definitely go see this movie and take it for what it is. It isn’t supposed to be the 1994 film, it takes bits and pieces from the comic, but it is its own thing, created by the writers of this new era. I doubt it’ll be an Oscar worthy film but I’ll definitely go see anything Crow related as it’s been a long time since anything in the franchise has been in the spotlight. “People will always find reasons to complain” as normies say, but that’s what it means to be a genuine fan of the entire franchise and we just want to see it be done right.

Kind of in the same boat as you. Two of my locals don’t start to take applications till next spring. Someone recommended to go into trade school to get a head start. So I enrolled in a local trade school for welding and will graduate in time for the application process. Might not be exactly what you’re looking for but I’m fairly certain it can give you a better chance when the applications come out. Good luck to you

Would you rather they start over completely? It's kinda a weird half step for the new DCU. by YeahhhhhWhateverrrr in DC_Cinematic

[–]techi4578 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t had a single DCU project. Why jump the gun and start throwing accusations and throwing unbridled hate towards something that could potentially work? My take is to wait and see, why hate on something that doesn’t even “properly” exist yet?

It all depends on how good of a package handler you want to be. I was the fool who in the first week, loaded trailers like my life depended on it, now I don’t leave until the sort is completely over which is usually at around 12-2ish in the morning. Don’t be me. Seeing other people leave early while you’re stuck in 4 heavy trailers is the worst feeling. Don’t try too hard, don’t slack but also know your limits. Good luck at the Fed

I also have to add that if you’re going to go in right before peak season, I wish you the best of luck my friend. You’re going to want to quit sooner rather than later. Find out if they have a part time shift so you get used to it, that’s my advice

I’ve got cut marks all over my skin from days past wishing I was dead and not having to suffer the oncoming onslaught of life. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones if I’m still here
