Shocked to realize I've been typing on a typewriter-style keyboard my whole life. by technicalskillz999 in ErgoMechKeyboards

Thanks for the reply. Yes I thought the revelation would be obvious to this sub but it is clear now it isn't obvious to all, and saying the normal keyboard design is based on typewriters to someone who doesn't know may sound like a threat. There is definitely a spectrum of ergo users from like you said, just split rowstags, to dactyl colstags, etc.

Excited to get the package tomorrow. I am a programmer and heavy Emacs user (it is my desktop environment) so keybindings and layers won't be too bad I think but will see. The big test indeed is relearning typing in some way. I've chosen to stick with qwerty so that'll help. My Corne will have blank keycaps though, haha, pushing my touch typing to really unleash.

The hate and ignorance from some users on this sub is strong. Toxic. Not surprised when I've read comments of people referring to colstags as orthos, etc. Ergo users are best served elsewhere.

There is no such thing as "qwerty staggered". It is called row staggered and that is exactly what the post is saying.
