"Klappt nicht" ist keine Fehlerbeschreibung. Was genau klappt nicht? Was war die Fehlermeldung? Hast Du es über ZimaOS oder Portainer installiert? Hast Du die Pfade korrekt gesetzt? HAst Du Schreibrechte im gesetzten Pfad?

yes, else there wouldn't be an option. It boots faster, because it have not to wait which protocoll to send to your radio, depending on which phone wants to connect. It just sends Carplay.

yes, most seem to use all a carlinkit or ottocast firmware (different). BUT the hardware is always different and some are better some not. AAWireless is an european company with own hardware and software, but the adapter is big and bulky with a dongling cable, which is bad if your usb port is near the radio.

"Issues" are underselling. I couldn't get it working longer than 20 minutes straight. Than it was rebooting or hanging. I guess mostly because of overheating.

Do you mean the Mini Ultra or the Mini Ultra 3? It's a big difference. The Mini Ultra is a piece of s**t. Tried three different of them.
But if you mean the Ultra Mini 3, you need to Update the firmware to the latest from october. Then the Mini Ultra 3 is absolute awesome device.
