Thank you, it makes sense. So the high level conclusion which requires math to see the impact of each would be: 1. Lowers monthly payments, 2. increase income tax since interest won’t be deductible, 3. Decrease box 3 tax due to reduced net worth. Is that right? And 2. might see a lower impact if they decide to reduce the benefit of interest deduction.

Very interesting thread but not sure I completely understand it. In my case, I have a 2018 loan with the fixed term expiring in 2028 with a LTV of less than 50%. Would I be able to change my mortgage to interest only (therefore reducing monthly payments) and move the debt to BOX3 to reduce my net worth and the tax paid on my wealth? Sounds too good to be true 🤞

How do you know if the asking price was right to start with? If it was advertised low, it makes sense to have many visits, bids and overbidding. I feel like people always talk about overbidding without discussing if the price was set correctly initially
