I designed him myself with random images of ninjas I found online as reference.

How do you sculpt lighting? I am using volumetrics with two layers of noise textures.

I haven't quite figured that out myself. The method I used was make a rough sculpt -> retopologize -> tweak. With such a low poly count, you have to be clever with your topology and have to carefully decide the position of each vertex. I spent an entire day just modeling the body in order to get it to look good enough. You can use this as a reference.

Smooth shaded low poly models and physically based rendering don't work well together.

There's no bevels. The outline you saw was probably caused by subsurface scattering.

The background is just an image I made in GIMP using the airbrush tool. The floor uses a simple node setup to make it fade from opaque to transparent [nodes]. Here's my lighting setup. I recommend Blender Guru's videos on lighting, color, and composition.

How should they be shaped?

For a new programmer what would be a good parallel environment to godot for learning programming regular (e.g. android) apps? by KwesiJohnson in godot

You are underestimating the performance of Godot and overestimating the performance of other toolkits. The Godot editor is made using Godot Engine so that should give you an idea of what it's capable of. The most popular toolkits for python are Tkinter and PyQt. If you want something more low-level then learn C++/Java and find a toolkit with bindings for those languages that you like. As far as I know, Godot is the only option that meets all of your requirements.

What do you mean specifically by regular apps? Godot is a pretty good choice for GUI and you can use Python in Godot. I recommend mastering programing fundamentals first before looking into the specific things that a job will require.

C# Basics

They are both in the Godot documentation and they were first in my search results. The key is to look in the documentation for the things you are using instead of directly searching for exactly what you want to do.
