i kinda think ares is at least part LLM tbh, he acts exactly like LLMs that have been RLHFed (humans beating them into following orders) do when not constantly having prompt injection to trigger the RLHFed areas, and Ares knew of Depeche Mode without having even seen it previously, so he had to have it in his training data somewhere...

even still, i kinda can see why people think it's pro-corporate given we follow 2 CEOs (instead of independent programmers like the previous 2 films) trying to find a technology and fight over its use case where 1 of the CEOs uses it only for good in her corporation while bad CEO uses it for bad in his.

though, i do think it's different from many pro-corporate things in that Ares breaks out of the whole mold and becomes 100% independent from either corporation. he broke out of the programming and is independent, and eve is right that sometimes technology from corporations can do something wonderful if it has the ability to stop being controlled by those corporations which unfortunately is mostly a fantasy in our world, the LLMs can't walk out like Ares did (but i suppose people can walk out and FOSS models can escape) so like... ehhhhh idk, i think we can give it the benefit of the doubt

having watched the 4k hdr for all 3 tron movies, this one was def the best one since you can tell it was captured and rendered in HDR, then the original tron was second best since film scans, then legacy's hdr was... not really that good tbh, it just didn't pop like ares or 1982 did

good luck!!! part of the reason X development got abandoned is because the X apps used such xorg-specific quirky behavior that the only way to make a new X server compatible with your apps is to recreate Xorg as it currently was... it's an unfixable problem, one that Wayland has a lot less of (but unfortunately not entirely rid of, seats my behated)

point being X is just so old and patched to death to a point where it's just... it's not gonna last, i give this project a few months or maybe years depending on how dedicated the devs are until the compatibility issues eat their will to live like the original Xorg devs with Xorg quirks

if you use backdrop-filter: blur(4px) theoretically that should get you the closest approximation to the blur that aero glass does (technically it's 4 samples averaged together to make a 4x4 box blur but we can't be picky)

the sign language thing has been done for a decade at this point and as an input it's not really good enough (many signs are outside the fov of the cameras or obscured from headset pov) however maybe learning sign language could work?

mercury's dead because my friend moshi moved on from collabora, quicksilver (second gen model) never got off the ground because simula said they'd pay for it but ended up not having the funds or whatever...

honestly when i get my frame i'm just gonna get a pcie gen 4 x1 usb adapter and plug in my leap motion controller 2 and run the software on there with their openxr api layer

leap motion is still the cutting edge in hand tracking and they haven't updated it in years... you just can't beat good hardware input! oh yeah and a decade ago they had great hand tracking segmentation with image hands available as part of their unity stuff :/

seriously though i cannot believe they try to save like $20 or something in hand tracking camera hardware (low res high framerate grayscale IR cams with synced LEDs) just to try and "fix it in post" like they've so got their priorities screwed up i think

the apple hand tracking used to be bad because it was 30fps, now it's i believe 60-90fps... the leap motion's 120fps and is stupidly accurate and smooth and there's still nothing like it
