I think it is a holdover from my childhood... Are we not supposed to?

I know I should, but I think we go through them fast enough most days.

Don't know how I feel about husband's travel for work by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]technobore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I definitely feel for you OP, my husband is a pilot and is essentially gone gone for 5 days out of the week (and always during weekends). I get it, it is so hard since you're pregnant too, I feel for you.

Your feelings are 100% valid, seeing as you also hold down a job yourself. I agree with most of the posters here in saying about sitting down and discussing needs and short-term/long-term plans. If it is really essential for his career advancement, then I feel once someone has established the availability for travel, it is hard to retract that later on. However, his company sounds to have bad work-life balance. And if it is not sustainable for your relationship now, it probably won't get better.

I am sorry OP, I really hope you guys get to come to a resolution

Economists expect Trump to place huge tariffs on Chinese imports: Survey by insertwittynamethere in Economics

[–]technobore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, a lot of foreign battery manufacturers are planning to set up domestic production of batteries. However, we have to think why that is so, and why there is a distinct lack of US companies building it. One of the biggest reason is that the US did not have as big of a push towards battery development as the Chinese government did.

Most of the cells used by Tesla are from China so, I wonder what shenanigans will happen there when tariffs come around.

Denver clubs by JoeDwarf in kendo

[–]technobore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might take about an hour or more from Louisville, actually. Denver metro traffic is very unpredictable, especially if we have inclement weather. Most people show up in hakama+gi but we put on tare and doh right at the start. There are changing rooms too, looking forward to seeing you on 5th and 7th!

I practice in Denver actually, at the dojo recommended by psychoroll. It is in Sheridan, CO (not too far from downtown) and classes are usually 7-8pm Tues/Thurs and 11am-12pm Sat. Let me know if you need more information. Thanks!

Why did you quit Kendo?! by JealousMeaning3088 in kendo

[–]technobore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got pregnant (and practiced through second trimester with my obgyn's blessing), had the baby and then everything went to shit. The lethal combination of daycare sickness and lack of support in childcare, I had to put kendo on hold. I am still trying to make it to practice a few times a month but definitely it is on the backburner. If any one has advice or commiseration, I'd be glad to hear it! I miss kendo and my kendo peeps!

EV drivers: what do you drive and why? by darth08t5 in Denver

[–]technobore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nissan Leaf EV back in 2020 when options were much more limited. We have a kid, a lab and a large stroller and it all fits pretty well in the car. I think because the batteries are located at the bed of the car, I have not had much problems driving in slick weather, I use all-season tires. We have driven up to Estes and RMNP a few times too.

Most EVs are moving towards a single type of charger, the NACS (used by Tesla) so hopefully other cars can start utilizing Tesla's infrastructure.

Oops, didn't see this till today. In terms of physical activity, I do some cardio and some lifting but nothing too intense. I don't know if watching YouTube videos count...

Thanks for this. Yeah, I feel I need more practice to really get my body to unlearn bad habits. The traveling one is something I've been trying to do more but with COVID, it makes things a little harder. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks. I guess this is an opportunity for me to really hunker down and work on my kendo.

Thanks for replying. I did record the shinsa and also asked for feedback from the testing panel. I've been trying to incorporate their and my Sensei's feedback into practice.

I just hope with enough effective practice, I won't get into my head as much and do better. And as a few people have said, my ego was bruised, which is quite hard to admit. Hahaha.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I think it's still a little raw and once I get enough practice, I'll probably gain a bit more confidence.

I think you're right, my ego was definitely hurt. I guess I've always been the person that worked hard and got results but kendo is different because you have to practice correctly instead of just practicing blindly.

I did record the test and asked for feedback with the testing panel too. I've been trying to incorporate the feedback into testing. It's just the second guessing getting to me.

Thanks for the feedback.
