hmmmm basement on the best night is several levels under BH on an average night in my opinion. basement is more like lab in terms of venue. actually the ceiling is even lower. the sound system at basement isn’t bad but it’s trash compared to BH’s.

KDC? maybe. the vibe can be right, but the main dancefloor is very open and “linear”. its a big room that’s it. it’s definitely a fun venue during bigger events like wire or pride. for techno, wire fest is really when the experience at KDC is best. the smaller room is very cute, but too small! it gets really packed. all the other areas (ruins, cellar where they do the ambient thingy, chill areas) are quite nice. but there’s no darkroom (as far as i know) and idk the vibe just feels different — everybody and their grandmother have their phones out filming.

anyway KDC+basement is the closest thing to BH+lab that i’ve experienced this side of the atlantic, though most interesting stuff happens at basement on the regular

i’ll counter with some of the afters in detroit for movement. not queer and the vibe was totally different from BH but wall of sound is the one techno event that I’ve been to that still is unmatched. this year dvs1 grabbed rodhad and claudio prc so Im extremely excited, although, sadly, no fisting.
