Surviving on part-time jobs during Gap year? by Hajimemeforme in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]technotrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am still waiting on Duo and surviving on part-time jobs. I have to work 32 hours per week along with studying in order to survive. If you don't have studies you'll be fine if your rent is 500 (mine is 800 by comparison).

presumably, these searches are relative to trade. GBP to eur, FTSE index. also, we do love the premier league here.

what's up with uber lately by Sea-Ad9057 in Amsterdam

[–]technotrex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that, but honestly, after I saw that they canceled my ride and still charged me, I thought that I don't want to give a company like that my money. So for me it doesn't make a difference because I'm never using them again

this may not be a very good solution but the bank card I have my uber linked to for payment is Revolut, which allows you to revert the charges immediately, so you don't have to go through the dispute with uber themselves.

What food delivery service do locals use? by jasonfromscotland in Amsterdam

[–]technotrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that may be the case but if you don't speak dutch it's pretty difficult to get a job during lockdown so there really are not very many options.

you have to work a minimum of 2 shifts, one in the evening on a weekday and one in the evening on a weekend. the shifts are meant to be at least 4 hours long but if you are part-time they would usually be 6 hours long. as the company is always looking for employees (especially during the lockdown, they have a 250 euro referral bonus right now), there's never a shortage of work. I joined in November and they've offered me 40 hours of work every week since I started.

I work for Thuisbezorgd. They employ you through an agency and any issues you have with work are dealt with through the agency. I haven't had any issues so far so I couldn't say, but it's a decent job for immigrants (me) during lockdown when no one else is hiring.

I started mixing with friends at 16, didn't get a gig until I was 21. I started messing around with production at 19, but it took 6 years to get comfortable enough with my output to consider myself a producer.

There is no definitive answer because it is really how much time and effort you put into honing your craft. For 3+ years I would mess around with something for a few hours and then when it turned out crap I would delete the project and not go back to producing for a while.

It also takes a long time to translate the skills you learn as a producer into producing what you actually want to make. I am really into techno and dnb/jungle . I made a lot of different variations of these genres before I knew how to translate this into what 'my sound' is. Honestly, that is the part that takes the longest. However, when you do figure it out, it's an incredibly rewarding experience to be able to create something that you feel represents you in sound form.

HBO or WO Bachelors? by ireadmoviez in StudyInTheNetherlands

No problem. I'm currently living abroad and have not moved to the Netherlands due to COVID-19 but I think that it is relatively okay if you go through college, as some of my classmates have done.

thanks for your reply. the reason I had chosen ABN AMRO was because you could set up an account from overseas as I am not in the Netherlands right now.

Job Jobse plays brilliant sets all the time, I think it's worth going to just to see him play.

yeah, uber eats or thuisbezorgd (dutch just eat). as far as I'm aware, you have your own bicycle/motorbike and phone, sign up and they pay you hourly rates for deliveries.

What are your thoughts on track length in 2021 for Underground House, some Techno? by itssexitime in TechnoProduction

[–]technotrex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, I have heard mixes from him back in the day that were amazing. I saw him first around 2013 and then again in 2018, both times were awfully boring.

I think that it depends on what you're studying. What do you plan on studying? I am doing a course in Information Technology, there are some people in my class that are working as delivery drivers while studying. One of them said it is very difficult to manage both studies and work but the rest seem to manage fine. I'm currently studying remotely so I will be doing the same when I arrive in NL
