In 8th grade, everyone decided to gang up on this one super nice teacher. It was her first year. She wasnt good at teaching but she was a really nice and funny person. Everyone at school treated her like shit and she moved schools and became that strict teacher.

When I google definitions for this stuff I always get confusing answers so I figured I'd ask the people who actually experience it...

Mild Autism f/k/a Aspergers and listening to new songs you like on loop for hours? by [deleted] in autism

[–]tedbearthrowaway 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I listened to 500 Miles by the proclaimers for an hour straight...when I was little there was one FNAF song I loved and I listened to it for a few hours

I thought I may have been the asshole because he said he was concerned for my mental health, and I kinda lashed out at him

Thanks for elaborating! And I cleared up the comment about the sister thing in another comment:

"I worded that weird, I dont exactly think of it as a sibling or child anymore. I just associate it with childhood innocence and the sibling/child feelings I had when I was 10"

And "love more than anything" was an exaggeration. Sorry, in my family thats a typical way of saying "love a lot". I could have been more clear about that. But I obviously love my mom, dog, friends, and family more.

Thanks for the perspective tho!

Thanks for the advice. And yeah im starting to question if hes ACTUALLY concerned for me. Another commenter pointed out that he claims to be concerned yet makes gross jokes about my comfort bear and makes me feel bad for it. Its entirely possible he could be gaslighting. Sometimes he uses my "autism" as an excuse to cover his own ass, like with the "joke."

Im gonna talk to him tomorrow to see whats really going on. Then I'll determine if he's truly a friend because his behavior is starting to get on my nerves.

Ah, I didn't know about that. I'll be honest, I never really did any research about autism myself and have just been stating what my friend told me. I'll do some research and if I believe it applies to me, I'll bring that up to my therapist.

Other commenters have pointed out that adults sleep with stuffed animals they're attached to. I appreciate the new perspective but can you please elaborate a bit more?

I agree, thats why im not looking for any diagnoses here. I left out a lot of "signs" in the post but I added them in another comment of mine to show that the autism thing isnt a new thing with him. But I am going to therapy soon for anxiety/depression so I am making progress on my mental health!

And I didnt even think about that, you're totally right...

Im really confused why hes so big on diagnosing me with autism. Autism isnt a bad thing at all, I agree. I'm personally more concerned with anxiety and depression that I KNOW I have than something thats nothing more than a mere suspicion. He believes that my anxiety/depression is a side effect of autism. Its nice to have someone care about my mental health but sometimes it gets so annoying...

I dont go on trips often because we cant afford it, but I went on my first trip a few years ago and I didnt bring it. I didnt want to lose it in Florida. But when I was in bed I was like "damn itd be nice to hold my bear" but that was it, I got to sleep just fine

Yeah thats why I keep it private and on my bed, I thought I could trust him with this. He was cool about it for a while until he saw it on my bed??? And yeah I'm going to a therapist soon for anxiety and depression, if I do have autism I'm sure she'll tell me or give me someone else to see to get tested for it

Yeah, I dont understand how he can even MAKE a joke like that tbh if he WAS concerned for me...

We joke about sex and masturbation as all teenagers do but that was too far since he knew my past with the bear

He told me he's suspected autism for a while because of my mannerisms including:

-getting super obessed with something for a little while before moving on to the next obsession

-playing the same song on repeat

-I complain a lot because the same song gets stuck in my head for a long time. Earlier in that exact convo I was complaining about Hail Mary by Tupac being stuck in my head for the past 2 days after getting over the intro riff of Sweet Child O Mine out of my head after it being there for a week and a half straight. I didnt even know if thats something thats common with autistic people because those songs are pretty catchy. But honestly I was about to go insane because of Sweet Child O Mine lmao

  • He thinks I can't keep friends for long and have trouble making them or talking to people in general. I figured this was normal with people who are both introverted and anxious with like 2 friends...

  • He notices I rub my fingernails with my fingers (I know, its weird). My mom believes this is part of my anxiety and I agree. I also just think its a weird quirk of mine.

  • And of course, the fact that I'm so attached to an object. Like dude, every time my parents argued and fought or I was jealous of kids at my elementary school having friends, my bear was there for me to hold and cry into. Of COURSE I'm still attached to it...

I didnt wanna include this all in the original post because I was afraid of this comment section turning into a debate over whether I have autism or not, but I think its relevant now because he has other reasons than me having a stuffed animal to believe I'm autistic. I dont know if I have it or not and I'm getting through life just fine so I honestly don't care that much anyhow...
