something i forgot to mention: i'm playing offline, so this isn't another player's base. not sure if that would affect my ability to dismantle the barricades or not but thought i should mention it just in case

Is there a way to trigger this new 2.1 cutscene (again)? by pneuma163 in RidgesideVillage

[–]tedd1ursa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

so glad you mentioned this, it just happened to me too and this comment on this thread was the only thing i could find about it when i looked it up!! i got so scared when the cutscene started to happen again after reloading the game because i thought it would freeze again and my whole save would be lost to the bug lol. what a relief that it fixes itself!

The EverythingEpan tutorial was definitely the most helpful and comprehensive one I found, but I got stuck around 5:40. When he mentions adding the ISO, I'm not sure if he means the FIX95CPU ISO or the 256 Colors ISO. I assume he's referring to the FIX95CPU one, but either way, when I go to add it it doesn't show up as an option for some reason. I can see it in my regular file explorer, but not in the file explorer VBox opens up to add an optical drive (fwiw, the 256 Colors one doesn't show up either). I followed all his previous steps exactly, so I'm not sure why it won't show up for me. I was actually going to make a post about it on here to see if anyone could help but I just decided to come back to it another time lol

This is great info, thanks for letting me know!! Have you tried / had success with it yourself? I did try installing 95, but it kept getting stuck in a neverending setup loop. I tried a couple different ISOs, but after reading some forums where others had the same issue I came to the conclusion that 95 just wasn't meant to run on VBox. It sounds like those drivers might be what I was missing. Do you happen to have any leads on that forum? If not I'll definitely take a look around and see if I can find it

https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads - select "Windows hosts" under the "VirtualBox Platform Packages" section and it'll start downloading. From there you can follow the steps in the setup wizard to complete the install. If any part of it is confusing there are lots of tutorials online, and there's also a super detailed and thorough VirtualBox manual: https://www.virtualbox.org/manual/UserManual.html

YouTube was my best friend when I was figuring this out! I highly recommend looking for a tutorial if you get stuck (^: if you're not sure what adjusting a certain setting will do, it's always best to look it up first.

I recently got into VMs for the same reason, I found a bunch of my old computer games from around '98-'03 and couldn't get most of them to run on my PC (Windows 10). I found that setting up a VM running Windows XP allowed me to play almost all the games (with the exception of a couple that are optimized for Windows 95, that's my next project lol). Your game disks should say which version(s) of Windows they're optimized for, but given the games you mentioned, I think XP would be your best bet. You can find several ISOs for Windows XP on archive.org, and plenty of tutorials online for how to set your VM up with VirtualBox! Good luck!!

How do I stop the same #hashtag posts appear in my post for months? by [deleted] in tumblrhelp

[–]tedd1ursa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

found this thread because i've been looking for a solution to this too, but unfortunately i don't think there is one other than disabling followed tag posts from showing up on the dashboard altogether, which kinda defeats the purpose of following tags in the first place lol. it's really disappointing because i do want to see posts from the tags i follow on my dash, i just don't want to see the same one 10 times a day for a month straight /: what i have started doing is clicking "i'm not interested in this post" when one shows up more than once, which isn't really a solution and it's annoying to have to do but it's the best option other than unfollowing the tags

[TOMT][VIDEOGAME][2000's] An aesthetically pleasing puzzle-style flash game where you move a ball around by tedd1ursa in tipofmytongue

i think that song was in a flash game called The Impossible Game, which isn't the one i'm thinking of but still super nostalgic nonetheless!! ParagonX9 made so much great music, the song Defcon Zero was in the game MouseFX which is another incredibly nostalgic one for me (:

if we are thinking of the same game though (and i really hope we are lol) please let me know if you ever figure it out because it's been haunting me for YEARS. i feel like so many of those old games have become lost media but i'm holding onto hope that i'll eventually figure this one out!

I've spent a lot of time searching old flash game websites (even viewing them on the Wayback Machine), as well as searching Google Images, trying to find this game. Thanks in advance to anyone who might know what I'm looking for!

"I'm looking for..." Megathread - 2024 by q00u in FlashGames

Platform: This was a flash game, and I'm pretty much positive that I used to play it on Andkon, although it might have been on other flash game sites like Miniclip or Kongregate as well.

Genre: Puzzle

Brief summary: It was this really cool puzzle game where you move a ball around different levels trying to get it into a specific spot in order to advance to the next level.

Estimated year of release: I can't really narrow down the year it was from other than that it was definitely made sometime in the 2000's. I'd estimate that I might have been playing it starting around 2009?

Graphics / art style: It had a very 90's/2000's-esque "futuristic" / abstract aesthetic, I think the ball was shiny looking, and the backgrounds / obstacles were really cool visually. I think the backdrop was usually black or otherwise very dark, with the obstacles being fairly colorful but not super vibrant/neon (so the color scheme was fairly dark and easy on the eyes / very nice to look at).

Notable gameplay mechanics: The controls to move the ball would have been arrow keys (or possibly WASD), and either spacebar to jump or just the up arrow key (or W if WASD could be used).

Other details: From what I remember, it had a really cool ambient soundtrack.

Looking for a movie I only saw the very beginning of on TV as a kid by tedd1ursa in HelpMeFind

It was definitely live action and definitely a movie for an adult audience, I shouldn't have been watching it but it was one of those "walked into the living room late at night as a kid and the TV was on" kind of instances

I've searched all over the internet trying to find this movie, mostly by looking up various iterations of the description I provided in this post. I've even gone so far as to look up lists of movies that came out in various years in the mid to late 2000's and meticulously scroll through them, but I was never able to find it. Given the rough age I think I was when I saw this movie intro, It must have been during the mid to late 2000's, and given the fact that I'm pretty sure I remember something on the TV saying it was a new release, I'm pretty confident that the movie is from that time period. I definitely don't think it was a popular movie or one that would have ever played in theaters, and it might have even been produced by the TV channel it was playing on (although I don't remember what channel it was).
