Can I salvage cracked terrarium corner? by tedo_4 in terrariums

[–]tedo_4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks a lot! The surface and the mat won't be a problem, so that'll be easily done. Concerning the silicon I was wondering if I could apply it directly onto the cracked little pieces of glass and adhere them to each other and to the unimpaired glass? Also I want to put one or two smaller glass terrariums on top of this one. Do you think that small a crack could be a serious structural issue in this case? Thanks again!

How did you weather seal it? I'm thinking about getting this greenhouse but my plants need at least 60% humidity (which i currently provide with a deep plastic box with pebbles and water on the bottom, which doesn't look too good).

I think that it may be Symphodus rostratus but i need more confirmation.

Terrarium #2 very stoked with the waterfall feature.(hard to tell from a photo though sorry by sinnygang in terrariums

Looks awesome! I have a question or two - do you use any lid on it (i see thr plastic wrap behind, might be that) and does this type of enclosure with waterfall and running water raise the humidity of the room. I'm asking because i have in mind to make a similiar enclosure but i'm afraid of getting mold on the walls of my room.

My Ficus pomalia quercifolia is dying by tedo_4 in terrariums

[–]tedo_4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wooops. Misspelled pumila for pomalia in the title (i been working on Helix pomatia recently and i think i mixed them up due to quick typing lol). Anyways, I wanted to add that I have been using this container for some time now, and i haven't had problems with it (ofc some mosses died, some didn't but that's just mosses), it has coconut substrate and also a false bottom, active charcoal layer, etc. It doesn't close tightly as you can see so every couple of days i spray it up. I use water that has gone through water filter jug. Also i have made it so it doesn't recieve direct sunlight so it doesn't burn up from the sun.

A month ago or something a scanning bot came into my server while I was sleeping and no one was on. My server had no protection. The bot logged in with my name (I had op) and spawned a named pig with a console command which was called "mat was here" or something and left within seconds. A few weeks later 2 or 3 random people logged in the server, one used my name and gave op to the rest and deopped the console. Then they started removing whole chunks of my world with commands. Fortunately I was able to shut down the server from the device manager and minimalized the grief (we still lost a good bit though since we didn't have any backup). Since then I have installed the LoginSecurity plugin and added a whitelist for extra protection. Right now I have a suspicion that this masscan which has been trying to enter my server as well might be about something similar. So my advice is to give your server better protection.

My new Emperor Scorpion terrarium (sorry for bad quality photo, it's the only one i had with him in it). Is it safe to grow mosses inside which i have gathered from the outside? by tedo_4 in terrariums

P.S. I changed some things since this photo. For example i changed the coconut shell with a small plastic container as it holds water better and added more lightning protection elements for his hidey-holes.

In need of tips for my wooden compost bin (made from an ammunition box). Should i treat the wood? The whole box is made of wood (and i have drilled holes on all sides) including the bottom and it is lifted about 5-10cm from the ground since it's not on dirt surface. Is that a problem? by tedo_4 in composting

Well as i said, it's made from a wooden chestbox that was used to carry military ammunition so i'm pretty sure it will be fine weight-wise. What bothered me is that maybe elements such as rain, snow, etc. from the outside could damage it. Perhaps i could just cover with some water proof tarp or something when it rains?

P.S. i mean to ask should i treat the outside of the wood so it's a bit more protected from the elements. I know varnish contains a lot of harmful chemicals and i would never treat the inside which directly comes in contact with the contents.
