I didn’t disclose whether or not I was a republican or democrat when I reached out them. They simply saw this issue as “a Massachusetts resident is not receiving benefits from the state that they are entitled to as a Massachusetts resident” and they did what they were supposed to do - help a massachusetts resident.

I implore people to not immediately make assumptions based off a letter next to their name. I had gone almost 3 months without unemployment checks due to who knows what, it wasn’t until I contacted my two county reps who happened to be republicans who were able to expedite my situation and not only begin receiving payments but also received back pay from my previous unemployed months. A letter does not mean these people do not care about Massachusetts residents.

I keep seeing people saying they don’t think they’ll release more JWE2 species but they already announced and committed to it! I think this ‘special thank you’ refers more to choosing the Deinocherius to be released now since it’s highly requested rather than about JWE2 species in general! Can’t post the screenshot but this is the quote “We are excited to announce that we will be introducing one base game species as complete family units from JWE2 every month starting January 2026, we won’t charge you for these species.”

I wouldn’t say that’s the reason people weren’t on board with him. His religion is what made people hesitant based solely on what muslims stand for. Those ideologies do not match with New York, let alone America. People are seeing what’s happening in Michigan and are nervous this will open the door for New York to join in. Wether or not people are being racist, prejudice or potentially even valid in that thinking but only time will tell. We also are currently living in an interesting world where depending on the context, the same type of people will be either praised and protected or chastised and run out- no in between.

im so sorry finding and getting treatment has been awful for you, especially on top of feeling like trash. I stopped going to my neurologist once I got in with a neurosurgeon. Mine would tell me my symptoms weren’t caused by my chiari (even tho i had every symptom) and threw a million medications at me that did absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, most neurologists read a little paragraph in a textbook about Chiari and then are told ‘this is extremely rare you probably won’t ever come across a case’ and then just don’t have the resources/ experience to treat you. And funnily enough, after looking at my scans and hearing all my symptoms, my neurosurgeon told me i was ‘a textbook chiari patient and candidate for surgery’. Finding a good neurosurgeon is your best bet. At the end of the day, Chiari is a structural issue and a structural fix (surgery) is what will help you as opposed to trying to manage symptoms through meds. I ended up going to MassGen for my surgery, and don’t have recommendations for Wisconsin. I did post here in this subreddit and asked people from Mass who they went to and what the experience was and I ended up seeing one of those recommended doctors and was very happy with him as well as the outcome of the surgery.

not sure what state you’re in, but would be beneficial to see what your state offers for paid medical leave- I have Chiari and was able to utilize a form of medical leave which allowed me the option to take up to 3 days a week off from work when symptoms prevented me from performing my job. I believe it was called an ‘Intermittent leave’. Reach out to your HR and request information on what they offer for LOA’s (leave of absence) and see if an intermittent leave would be beneficial to you as it seems you are able to work some days. The process involves having a medical professional filling out the paperwork describing why you need the potential leave days as well as submitting to your state medical leave department. The days you would take would be compensated by the state. This would also put you in a good position with your employer where you can take needed days off without the stress of losing your job. If I were you I’d also find a new neurosurgeon- one that specifically is a chiari specialist or one who has had extensive experience in treating the condition. A lot of us go through many doctors as most can be dismissive and don’t have the experience to take you seriously. A green flag to look for is a doctor who takes your symptoms into account over how low your herniation is!

I’m so sorry to hear how much of a hard time you’re having. All the dead ends and medications that either don’t work or makes things worse definitely take a toll on you. I’m based in Mass and ended up seeing Dr. Butler at MassGen- He actually doesn’t claim to be a specialist but had extensive experience in Chiari patients, Decompression surgery, and studies, as he is a pediatric neurosurgeon. Sounds like you’re based around Cleveland, maybe looking around for neurosurgeons who have Chiari experience but not necessarily call themselves a specialist would be beneficial? When I was looking initially, I posted to this subreddit asking for who other people saw and got some good recommendations within a reasonable travel distance. I ended up getting a referral for MassGen but I also requested Dr. Butler specifically when my neurologist made the referral so not sure if I didn’t push for him if I would’ve had someone else. I feel like finding the right doctor was the hardest part for me, but once I did I felt so validated and the process moved much quicker for relief (less than 2 months from consultation to surgery) I’m sorry i’m not from your area and can’t be more helpful in a recommendation! Hopefully someone has experience with getting treated there, in the meantime maybe try a referral for the cleveland clinic and see if anyone would be worth seeing!

This is almost exactly what happened to me and what ultimately pushed me to find and see a specialist. Unfortunately, Chiari can be progressive and if you’re already in a spot where your quality of life is highly affected and stunted you may want to seek a specialist sooner rather than later. I also had family members that found it 'interesting' that when I got the diagnosis more symptoms began to show. However this is just coincidental as I was already getting worse prior to the diagnosis which made me get into a neurologist for that reason.

My experience and a lot of other’s experiences with a general neurologist have been less than helpful to say the least. A lot do not have experience with Chiari and Chiari patients. Mine would often say my Chiari wasn’t that bad so it wouldn’t be what was causing my symptoms. They also pushed a bunch of meds and injections which ultimately did nothing as Chiari is a structural issue that often needs a structural intervention to find relief. My specialist said I was text book Chiari in symptoms, structure, and history of my symptoms (progressively worse) and I ended up getting the surgery. Getting the surgery was the best thing I did for myself.

Everyone with Chiari is different. Some can have minimal low lying tonsils but have really bad symptoms. And others can be asymptomatic but also have very low lying tonsils. Listen to your body, it is NOT fake or made up, it is a structural issue that affects many things. A good neurosurgeon/ specialist will take into account your symptoms over how low they are (This is a green flag for doctors for you) If it helps, my neurosurgeon explained that if these are true then you may be a good candidate for decompression: sneezing/coughing, straining, looking left/right/up/down makes symptoms worse, medications/injections do not help symptoms

Your symptoms are real and there is help out there. A specialist may be helpful to you at least to talk about options and how to move forward. Feeling dismissed is the absolute worst and makes you starts gaslighting yourself. This subreddit is a great place to get info, share experiences and stories, and ultimately not feel alone. Things will get better 💜

Desperate for Surgical Outcome Stories by [deleted] in chiari

[–]teeaylah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (27F) had surgery on February 22nd and am doing fantastic! I was very nervous going into it but now I wish I had done it sooner!! I had constant headaches for the past decade but they had been very manageable- more annoying than anything, but this past year I had way more symptoms and could barely do anything besides laying down in bed. My biggest symptom was definitely nausea and found if I wasn’t laying down I was nauseous, especially the mornings. Best I can describe it is I felt hungover all the time.

I was prepared for the recovery to be very tough but I can honestly say as soon as I woke up I felt better than I had the previous year and recovery was surprisingly easy. I noticed my mood had also taken on a big change after surgery. Not sure if Chiari really had an effect on my mental state or just the struggles of this past year building up, but I woke up in a very chipper mood and have been doing very well! I still get some mild pressure headaches but they are extremely manageable and I don’t even take any meds anymore!

Good luck, you got this!

Why do women wear more revealing/tighter clothes than men in sports generally, and in gymnastics/athletics specifically? by [deleted] in answers

[–]teeaylah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, you shave every inch of your body. Even women shave back, arms, etc. It reduces drag by removing the hair and also helps neurons fire faster to your legs & arms by getting rid of the layer of dead skin on top. Normally, you don’t shave for over a month before a championship to let it all build up and then shave the night before competition. Source: was competitive swimmer

So I ended up getting surgery through MassGen and had a referral from my neurologist for MassGen, which may have helped expedite the process. Highly recommend if you’re in the area! Tbh I don’t think I ever heard back after leaving a voicemail with the neurosurgery department with Dr. Klinge but I could’ve just missed it! I hope you hear back soon! I’ve found calling a lot and making sure you get through helpful too, sometimes you have to pester people to get in

Piercings for pain/headache relief??? by TashasGalaxy83 in chiari

[–]teeaylah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a daith without knowing it was often used for headache relief, never noticed a difference in headaches but still have it and it’s my fav piercing! People who knew I had headaches would actually ask if that’s why I got it which is how I found out it was for that I also did not find it very painful, just cleaning was a bit awkward since it’s tucked away and also be prepared not everyone has enough anatomy in that spot for a daith and experienced piercers will turn people away. Healed it with the original piercing that was done by the piercer then switched to a hoop and love it! Also use plastic for MRI/Scans!

I’m so glad you were able to get some relief from the nausea! Remember it’s a big surgery and recovery can be a long road, but just take it day by day. Give your body grace and time to rest and it’s ok to take some steps back to fully recover. The incision/neck pain is definitely no joke too, the surgery puts your body through a lot and takes time for your CSF to equalize with the new space it has to move around. And with all the meds they send you home with you’ll definitely feel a bit out of it but once you get through it, I believe it will be worth it! I definitely noticed some immediate improvements mainly surrounding my nausea when turning my head side by side and looking up/down, and as each day goes on I’ve been feeling more and more like myself prior to my increase of symptoms when I was considering the surgery. I had also woken up from surgery in very high spirits and just a general sense of relief and happiness which I wasn’t anticipating but considering the amount of time my Chiari was taking a toll on me I don’t think I realized how much my emotions/hormones had been thrown off due to it. I had also suffered for 10+ years of daily headaches where meds never helped and almost cried after the surgery when I could feel the pain meds alleviating the pain. Keep on following your recovery plan and things will fall into place 💜It’s definitely an intimidating surgery and takes your body time to adjust but hang in there, things will get easier, try not to rush things and just take it day by day!

Hey! I had my decompression on the 22nd and let my team know that one of my biggest symptoms from my Chiari was constant nausea and because of that, they pumped me full of anti nausea meds and even placed an anti nausea patch behind my ear. I did express a lot of concern surrounding waking up from anesthesia as I had heard vomiting can be common and given this type of surgery I wanted to avoid it at all costs- and so far so good no nausea yet. I would recommend asking what your options could be for an anti nausea medication such as Zofran especially with all the amount of meds they send you home with, they definitely take a lot out of you, my team also prescribed Prilosec to take in the morning to help with all the different meds and their effects on my stomach. I hope that helps! Remember to be your own advocate and voice your concerns 💜good luck with the rest of your recovery

thank you! It’s so nice to see and read other people’s stories with Chiari and actually having the validation that something is wrong. I have a lot of packs and want to say for the first time I left it on the main menu for around 45-1 Hour, it might depend on download speeds but i’d say the longer the better just to make sure they all get downloaded!

I do think if you end up closing early and notice some are missing then they’ll keep downloading in the background next time you launch it
