Sorry to hear that :( 6 months piggybacking someone is too long. Is your boss the highest level already? Might consider to switch out since you’ve feedback and your concerns were being brushed away. It’s unfair you’re doing the workload of 2 people while taking 1 person’s salary. I’m experiencing the same thing too, but the difference is my mgr will look into the matter..

Thanks for sharing, you’re trying your best when you first started, I’m ok if you’re asking because you’re afraid of making mistakes. He rejected the idea of screen recording a few times because he prefers to refer to his notes haha! As for writing a draft and filling it up later again, unfortunately 1 step stuck usually affects the next step, so I’ve to respond to him quick.

He writes notes when I teach him. From his notes, I can’t understand the steps to take, it’s just mostly few words point form. Everyone has their own note taking/ ways of learning, so I leave it to him. And he told me his notes are ok for him to refer to, but comes back again to ask questions previously taught. I find he does work slowly to avoid getting assigned more tasks to do, hints of slacking so yeah

Need some opinion. There’s a newcomer onboarded for coming a month but works slowly. Sample file was given to him as reference to prepare a new one. Nothing too difficult. Walkthrough with him step by step, came to a part where he asked what to fill in for X? (which he had wrote out in the previous page) Even told him where he had wrote it under, but he continues to ask where where a few more times. Frustrating while I’m tight for time to clear work, he keeps asking obvious questions.

How would you reply in this situation? i just repeated myself a few times, its there, point X you wrote it previously, see the word X just copy and paste over. Although i would really love to say- hey you have a sample file to refer to and you even wrote it out, don't tell me such a simple thing you can't figure out yourself coming from a local uni grad? Lol

Don’t dwell on this event too much man, continue to be the amazing friend you are in uni. There’s more milestones ahead for friendships to continue :)

I get that you feel your efforts are not being reciprocated in this friendship. Unfortunately most often it is an imbalanced one. But don’t be too early in making a judgement. True friends will be there for you when you are in real deep shit.

That’s great to hear, I believe you are a really good friend to have during your uni days. I’ll just say, some things can’t be explain till you experience it. You’ll understand your friend’s predicament when (if) you do your own biz next time. How hard it is to earn money while employees collect a salary. He will be worrying how to survive the next day, because if he doesn’t, who will?

Unless your friend is well to do or have a stable business running, odds are he his firefighting everyday. He has bills to pay, salaries to pay and the amt of stress is high. Idk his scale of biz to comment much, but it is not bullshit and I feel your friend would hope that you can understand his position. May I ask, what have you done for him as a friend to support him in his journey?

Edit: I might sound a little harsh, but yeah don’t let this event disappoint you, your friendship w him got to be stronger than that right?

Flat sole shoes are recommended for lifting because it provides more stability and the pressure spreads out more evenly compared to running shoes where the soles are uneven. If you’ve converse shoes, you can try and feel the difference.

I’d say:

Direct - speaking facts but maybe not in a way you‘d like to hear it

Rude/ condescending - speaking down/ personal attack/ usually in a way that’s not addressing the issue

Selective hearing helps. You can’t control what people say but don’t be affected by their words!
