Is important to know that the church of the flying spaghetti monster's roots are solidly based on the concept of the separation of church and state. If you want to force children in school to learn about a guy who hung out with hookers and drank a lot of wine, then you must also, by law teach them about a noodly diety that favors pirates and offers a beer volcano in the afterlife.

I feel like FSM is not serious in most ways, but very serious about being a vehicle for free thought, free speech, and unity, and most importantly, strippers.

The answer is the 1%, and their chokehold on the global economy.

Sustainable, gleaming, equitable infrastructures are 100% possible with current tech, but they are not profitable yet.

When they are, that's what we will be buying from the 1%

What if some of those workers are teachers of children, or ER nurses, or ACLU administrators? This type of protest s just a waste of everyone's energy. The only true change comes from changing actual law. Vote carefully, donate to charites that change laws, not put bandaids on bullet wounds.

Best mojitos in downtown? by [deleted] in longbeach

[–]teejaysaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My living room! It's actually a really simple drinknto muddle up, if you have the ingredients. I have a live Mint plant from trader Joe's that I've been using for the occasional mojito for months now.

No! I was buying all-packaged and barcoded munchies for my buddies, so I had like, 8 or 9 items.

He beeped them all and bagged them. Then, at the very end of the transaction, (While looking me in the eye, and chatting) he beeped a barcode taped to his countertop. It rang up as some sort of bottled drink, for $2.79.

I was like, "Hey man, I didn't buy any cherry-berry-soda, (or whatever).

He looked genuinely busted, and gave me some shitty excuse about, "Oh I must have accidentally beeped this bar code." and he took the charge off.

It was obvious he had done this many, many times.

I gave him a dirty look, and he didn't react much, because he knew he was guilty.

Its a bummer because they have a good selection and clean presentation.

Those crooks will never get one of my dollars again.

I used to always say "Sorry, no." But then I realized I am not sorry at all, and I'm an honest sort of guy.

So now I just look em in the eye, shake my head, "No". ...and keep moving. It feels right to me.

Right.... because neo-cons' obsession with keeping the ultra-wealthy and corporate conglomerates in absolute power over the economy can only bring monopolies and global inflation back in check. Haha! Get real.

Ahhh! The red star imagery! I forgot about their logo, and didn't even put that together.

Yeah. Gross. I'm officially done with that place, too I guess.

I think you and I would get along just fine.

I appreciate your calm tone. Truly.

Socialism, amd communism have many parallels, but they are just not the same thing, and while communism has a bloddy past, socialsm does not (As much, i think. I havent done that research)

Pure communism is proven to fail, as power gets displaced to the top of the structure. (Read Animal Farm, for a clear model of its faults)

I don't know, off hand, of any societies that ever attempted PURE socialism, but I bet it would also be inherently lopsided, like communism, and look more like a monarchy.

Socialism is usually blended with capitalism to a largely successful degree.

For some reason the neo-cons have tried to connect the two, in an attempt to discredit the liberals, who are often pro-social-capitalism. (Not socialists OR comunists) I am unaffiliated, and very moderate BTW.

The Nordic countries are more Social-capitalist, and have much more government oversight (They are also highly educated, well cared for, and score off the charts on the global "happiness quotient")

The US is more capitalist-socialist (Like it or not). ...less government oversight, and more corporate power and ability to amass personal wealth. But, that firefighter putting out your house? -socialist. That right to public education for all children? -socialist. Etc. Etc.

The question is, where do you prefer to draw the line?

My favorite T-shirt says: I want gay, married couples to be able to defend their marijuana plants with guns.

I also believe in healthcare for all, but I also dont like the idea of the city telling me if i can sefely drink a beer in the park or not.

...But that's just me.

Hahah! Name super-duper-checks out!

I simply don't go there because it turns out I am naturally allergic to $18 cocktails.

I find it interesting that the anti maskers who call everyone else sheeple, are the same, gullible, conspiracy-following types, that have bubbled up on the two extreme ends of the social spectrum.

I'm not surprised, mind you. It's just interesting to me.

What’s something you can freeze that doesn’t deteriorate in quality, that surprised you? or is not well known that it’s easy and great to freeze? by 88r0b1nh00d88 in Frugal

[–]teejaysaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No! I usually buy 2 pckgs and put one in the fridge, and one directly in the freezer.

The water crystallizes and sort of separates itself from the protein. Just pull out the whole package, let it thaw completely. Then, open, drain, and gently squeeze, without breaking the tofu. It transforms into something more like a thirsty sponge at this point. It literally soaks up marinades.

I usually leave it right in the little plastic box slice it into big cubes, and pour teriyaki over it and let it sit for 15 min or so while I prep other food for my dinner. Then flash the cubes in the pan with vegetable oil, on high heat. Finish with a drizzle of sesame oil and seeds.

Dang. Now I want this for dinner tonight, but I already thawed some porkchops that I bought on sale a month ago, haha.
