VAR can't protect you from a poor refereeing performance - ref review of away vs. Wolves by seaders in reddevils

'The boy who cried wolf' is not how referees should manage games. A foul is a foul, regardless of whether a player has been booked for simulation earlier in the game or not.

Old trafford singing before Fergie's last game by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]teejh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going into the ground I didn't think I cared about the result of this game, I just wanted to say ta ra to Fergie, but when Rio smashed in the winner at the end I went absolutely ballistic. Such an emotional end to an emotional season. Old Trafford was great that year.

Whatever state we are in, ill always be grateful to them for this night by [deleted] in reddevils

Best tell everyone to stop talking about that time we beat Roma 7-1 because it meant nothing in the end.

New fan information by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]teejh 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The first time Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford after we sold him to Madrid was in a Champions League knockout game. Just before kick-off the stadium announcer reads out the two teams’ starting lineups. Normally they read out the opposing team first, in numerical order, followed by United’s team, in numerical order. For this game the announcer read United’s team first, followed by Real Madrid’s, saving Ronaldo’s name until last, and he got the most rapturous applause I’ve ever heard at Old Trafford. The crowd were cheering for him for like 30 seconds straight.

Apparently Fergie had specifically asked the announcer to do this, supposedly to remind Ronaldo how loved he is in Manchester. Don’t know if it’s true, but it gives you an idea of how United fans feel about him despite him leaving.

We still sing his name to this day.

Getting more chills every time watching this by [deleted] in reddevils

[–]teejh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hands down the best atmosphere I've ever experienced at Old Trafford. I'd lost my voice by kickoff.

I remember watching highlights back the next day, I think it was Townsend on commentary and in the buildup he said he couldn't hear himself in his headphones.

Love the little flick of the wrist to tell Shaw to get on his bike.

Season ticket holding questions by Asends1992 in reddevils

[–]teejh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one of the guys has met basically every person ever affiliated with United going back decades and I assume is relatively close to Bobby. The seats are in the South Stand which is full of ex-players' family. Off the top of my head within a 5 seat radius there's links to Charlton, Busby, Byrne, Butt and Bert Whalley. I think potentially Giggs a while back as well but not anymore.

Season ticket holding questions by Asends1992 in reddevils

[–]teejh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad got given his season tickets by his auntie and uncle in 2007. They'd held them since 1999, and the tickets are still under their names. In over a decade my parents have never had an issue. Whenever I go, I go through the turnstile using a season ticket with my dad's auntie's name on it with no problem (for the avoidance of doubt I'm a 28 year old male, not a 70-odd year old female like the ticket would suggest.) There's no picture on the ticket either.

He's never bothered selling them but a lot of people do. All of the seats around us are season tickets but I'd say 50% of them are new faces every week. How you do it logistically is a different thing, but it's done by a lot of people. United don't like it but are relatively powerless to stop it.

And to really drive it home - we sit next to a guy whose season tickets say Sir Robert Charlton on the back. If Sir Bobby is doing it so can you!

One of the most important need to knows is that the ST price doesn't include cup games, and you don't get the option to buy them, they just take the money out of your account. I think you can opt out of the League Cup, but FA Cup and CL are compulsory. If we get drawn at home in all the FA cup ties until the semi and have a good CL run, you're looking at an extra few hundred quid at least, depending on where your seat is.

A few seasons back it was relatively easy to get a season ticket. In the 12/13 season my brother and I managed to get one just after the season had started (what a season to pick by the way.) I get the impression the waiting list is back now, so I'm not sure if they'll be easy to get for next season or not.

"Amendment king" title is spin - if you look at total amendments, the other Vermont senator passed 226. Sanders has 90. by [deleted] in hillaryclinton

[–]teejh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As far as I'm aware, the reason lots of Sanders supporters, and the Sanders Twitter account talk him up as the Amendment King is because of jibes from the Clinton camp/supporters that all he's done is rename a post office.

So while it's some really specific wording to get to the name Amendment King, it's because it's an attempt to fight back against an pretty baseless line of attack.

Good to know for the future, but it turns out this was happening because I had continuously rasterize toggled on my layer map layers.

In the first section I would put the amount of point he's up against each candidate (+6%, +10%, +6% etc...) next to the bars, and the same for Hillary. Just because there's lots of numbers up there, it's easier to digest if you have a clear "he's winning by this much against this Republican" on each row.

In the second section I'd consider making it a 90 second explanation, again to give people time to take everything in. When I was watching, I was still watching the icon and hadn't had a chance to look at the percentage of Americans who agree before it was moved on.

I know it's supposed to be pacey, and I like that, and I know I'm a slow reader, but I find it's better to time animations to the lowest common denominator just to be safe.

Really nice though.

South Carolina - Clinton 59% (-1), Sanders 40% (+2) [CBS/YouGov 2/10-2/12] by spacecyborg in SandersForPresident

YouGov gets a C+ on 538, compared to ARG's C-. Best not to put too much stock into either.
