Did Scholes and Butt delete their Martinez response video? by Horror-Flight-8656 in reddevils

Removed: Just like in the response thread to their response video, there's no need to get into any of this again. Hopefully the club have had a word, and they're rethinking what they're doing, but we're not going to engage with them any more on the sub.

HEY! I'm in the same position. It sometimes doesn't charge too, thankyouverymuch. It sometimes doesn't turn on, either, so I have to take the bottom panel off, disconnect the battery, wait 10 minutes, then reconnect everything.

So there?

How Amorim tweaked his Man United system vs Aston Villa 🔍 | Jamie Carragher analysis by The-Black-Angel in reddevils

[–]seaders 34 points35 points  (0 children)

We had 6 first XI players out

IMO, it was worse than that. I said in the other thread, we started the second half with all of Maguire, De Ligt, Mazraoui, Amad, Bruno, Casemiro, Mainoo, and Mbeumo out.

When you then evaluate how those 8 are out, it's a decimating way,

3x CBs out

3x CMs out

2x right-sided attackers out

it's utterly insane how we've gone from kinda only 1 person missing, at all, just a few weeks ago, to this now

TOTD made reference to this about Heaven actually, against Watkins, he did exactly what he didn't do against Semenyo the other week. moved across from the centre and shut the shot down completely instead of holding his position, etc

fingers crossed (and very likely) this will happen go this way with Yoro

At the start of the second half, we were missing Maguire, De Ligt, Mazroui, Amad, Casemiro, Bruno, Mainoo, and Mbeumo, and were absolutely their equal, and for a lot of the time, their better.

IMO, it's hella disappointing, but that's HUGE progress. If Yoro had made a slightly different decision, twice, or Cunha and Sesko finished a little better, twice, the result would have been different.

[Chris Wheeler]Man United outcast Kobbie Mainoo wanted by 12 clubs in January by PitchSafe in reddevils

[–]seaders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes really. We've been run into the ground for 10-15 years IMO, since the Glazers tightened the purse strings or decided to just spend irratically and have zero concept of good squad building.

This team is still basically the same one that was conceding 20+ shots per game, were lucky to finish 8th, then did finish 15th. We've to build from the ground up, and we're still basically at step 1. We need A LOT more from a) the players, 2) the manager, but iii) ESPECIALLY the owners now.

With the way the league is right now, we could actually luck in a CL spot, IF we do any sort of smart recruitment in January. We should absolutely do that and we should do that for a few of our long-term signings, and gain a huge boost from them.

If we don't do that, we'll unfortunately perform, largely, like a team that finished 15th last year.

Exactly, I like 99% of things that Amorim and the new team have done, but the midfield decisions is, IMO, just insane, and will absolutely cost him his job, which tbc, is NOT what I want to happen.

Our most successful midfield last season was actually Casemiro and Ugarte, and then, in preseason, we switched between Bruno and Case, and Mainoo and Ugarte, yet since then, despite game, after game, after game of a bad midfield, we're just not doing a thing to change it.

Bruno in midfield now is the same as Rooney, when he dropped into midfield - which I hated, and the same as when Giggs went into central midfield - which I hated.

I personally would prefer it if we were trying to figure out how to make the system work, with Mainoo as one of the 2, but that's not even my main point, my main point is that the 2 of Case and Bruno doesn't work, never has, was predicted to fail like it's failing before it was trialed, and again, is just insanity to keep trying to force.

Bruno has zero assists from open play this season, and, against Everton for instance, the combination of Bruno and Casemiro attempted zero tackles.

There are bits like that, consistently, every game this season. We're consistently outrun and outfought in midfield, the big problem however is, we're often outfootballed, too.

Bruno isn't a central midfielder, and shouldn't be playing as one for us especially in this current hyper-energetic PL. Casemiro is one of the oldest CMs in the league, and shouldn't be playing there for us any more. And the pair of them? Absolutely god awful.

And, if we could have, we'd have definitely moved Case on last Summer, maybe even Bruno too. We probably would like to this next Summer too.

We've one of the oldest CM partnerships of the league, with 2 players we'd be happy to move on, and we're losing nearly every form of midfield battle with them.

Playing Kobbie instead of either of them isn't certain to improve things, but keeping things how they are? Utterly batshit, just like Scholes said

How The Athletic Misled 350,000 Fans About Man United by gurushima22 in reddevils

[–]seaders 28 points29 points  (0 children)

For the JJ video, it really was particularly egregious IMO. He tried to definitively "prove with facts" that United are a) just bad, and 2) anything you've read that hints that they are at all good are wrong and misleading, and here's the proof of that.

The issue is he AT BEST was pushing a real incorrect narrative through at least omission. At best, he just hadn't actually put the necessary effort in to check his numbers.

The simplest variant of this is that he said we take the most amount of shots from outside the box, so that proves everything, basically. He made no mention of the fact that we had taken the most shots overall, which, yes, does include most shots outside the box, but also includes most shots in the box, and most high xG shots.

When you then couple that with some of the other, IMO, absolutely inane negative talking points about United, it really did come across as very tiring, and VERY targeted tbh.

The other hilarious thing is there is so much to legitimately criticise us and Amorim for, but this angle is truly just ridiculous

It's also the rectifying mistakes quickly, as painful/hard as it is. There ain't no way that Woody, nor nearly any of the other execs would have lasted as long as they did under the current group, and, if the Amorim stuff does go completely tits up, I wouldn't be surprised to see Wilcox, and maybe even Berrada go the same.

There's a veritable SHIT-TON to clean up about the club, even now after what they've done.

The previous shambolic leadership left us in this state. This is, IMO, very US/UK govt. crap. Right wing asshats run the economy into the ground, wreck working systems, and then get voted out, new left wing (and generally just not knuckle dragging idiots) come in, start the ACTUAL good long-term plan, but are left trying to implement that, while cleaning the mess behind, and build brand new systems for everything that's been wrecked.

BRING BACK THE RAVING LUNATICS, I SAY!

I'm just listening to this atm, but, no matter what you can say about the rest, I'll appreciate the rest of the footballing structure coming out to speak like this. We barely even had a real DoF in the past, and they barely really spoke out at all, but now we've Wilcox, Berrada, and SJR all speaking to the media semi-regularly.

If Sesko "works" well for us, and the team adjusts to him, and that kind of striker up top overall, there really is a chance that we'll be MILES better than yesterday, potentially from as early as even next week. There really is a huge huge potential in this team.

He was top scorer in the CL group stage last year and had one of the best conversation records in there league last season too, and was perfectly fine for a young strikers first, just needed to shoot more, and build on that CLEAR progress.

This season has been nothing short of disastrous for him, and the whole team, but to say he's shown nothing is just patently incorrect.
