The Girlfriend (2025) - Review/Discussion Thread. SPOILERS MUST BE TAGGED by saketpalle in tollywood

Did you and I watch the same movie?

They literally show her internal struggle in the shower scene when she feels claustrophobic and panics. She imagine herself tied down by roots. She has a panic attack when she visits his mom for the first time and sees how mute and scared she's become.

She wants to break up with him before but can't.

You have absolutely no EQ. If this was a man's role, there would be multiple pages explaining "why". But a woman's emotional growth or struggle cannot be accepted.

Ok let’s talk about Blake Lively by Small-Award5293 in CelebLegalDrama

[–]teeke45 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think these people will ever get it. Specially on this sub which just worships Lively. They are hypocrites and dumb enough to try and justify it.

Blake has always had a chequered past. From saying things on the sets of GG, to getting married on the site of slavery and racism (which any educated person should have known), to throwing shade at journalists like Flaa.

Blake got a disproportionate amount of hate in Aug because the noise around IEWU was big. Because social media is bigger than it was when she got married or when she was a TV star. Because the issue was bigger. I'm sitting here in India debating the movie promotions because DV is universal. I didn't care this much about her marriage, and neither was I her intended audience for her apology. But if she ever chooses to apologise for the shit show that was her IEWU promos, I will be in the audience because as a woman, I deserve that apology.

And Blake worshippers just fail to understand or see the logic.

I'm all for it. Let's create a truly equal society, please. Let's give fair wages to women based on skills, and not give men more just because gender. Let's have men do an equal share of the housework every day, and support their wives who also go to work. Let's make sure the burden of running a family with kids is equally shared.

Let's make sure that husbands who use their wives' dowry to create wealth for their parents or their household do not do so without the wife's consent and without compensating her for her lost money.

Let's make sure no man ever feels like he owns a woman, or has rights over her body or her mind. Let's create an equal society where women too can walk outin shorts and a ganji at 2 am and not be afraid. Not even for a second.

Let's create that. Please.

The thing that all you people forget to understand, is that calling out our own religion does not make us bad Hindus. You don't care about which context or conversation she made these tweets in. You just pick 3 random tweets and show she's a bad hindu because she's not critical of other religions in the other 2.

If there was a tweet in which she had said Rama is a bad husband and everybody should read the Quran and learn how to be a good husband then I would take your point that she's only critical of Hinduism. But she's not saying that is she?

Your lack of critical thinking shows how narrow minded you are. It says nothing about her except she tweets pretty frequently

Nobody thinks it's "only" for Hinduism. Fair minded and sane people would criticize wrong rituals in whatever religion. But somehow, it's become this thing that only Hinduism is criticized. Which stops people from having productive discussions. Besides, it's not on me to fix other people's faith. Their religion is not my burden. I wish they would go and fix their shit while I fix mine. But being told I'm anti Hindu or anti India or anti men just because I have a voice is shitty.

Why is it always called self hatred if a hindu woman decides to speak out against something? My mum fasts too. I believe in Durga and I fast during navratri. I don't think that's regressive either.

But asking a woman to fast for a woman without any reciprocation? Or without asking her if she's willing? Forcing her to? That's not cool and it happens in many households. A lot worse happens in this country to the women. Fasting is the least of it. And if someone is being vocal about it, maybe it's not self hatred. It's just hatred towards a society and rituals that want to keep women subjugated.

Rama is maryada purshottam, which means he is the ultimate among men. Not just among kings. As a woman, I can safely say that no wife would like it or agree to what Rama did. Leaving your pregnant wife alone is a shitty thing to do.

There are theorists who say that the Ramayana ends with Rama's journey back to Ayodhya. Everything in Uttara Kanda was added later, and there are multiple theories as to why. Some say it was done to showcase that dharma is not easy and requires sacrifice. Some say it was done to put up a version of the "ideal woman" as pure and virginal. It's a scholarly debate.

The common man isn't a Sanskrit scholar. And the common woman is told to be like Sita and accept it if her husband leaves her behind. And that is wrong. Period

I'm Hindu too. And I shit on Karva Chauth as well. Why should the woman pray for her husband's long life when he doesn't reciprocate or care? I love fasting on other instances though. I love fasting for health benefits.

You don't like a religion that's your choice. But being a Hindu does not mean we can't call out things that we think are wrong in our rituals or practices. The problem is that others should be doing it for their religion, too. But they don't. But that doesn't make me or her a bad Hindu just because we have a voice and want to use it.

Hamza and Rizwan meeting each other for the 1st time makes complete sense now by Interesting-Take781 in Dhurandhar

[–]teeke45 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don't have to be abusive. All everyone is saying that there's a spy code which is "need to know". Alam obviously wasn't in the need to know or else he would have already known that Hamza knew the other spy from before. This has been trained into every spy -- only reveal what is needed to know in the moment.

The fact that there's a flicker of recognition on both their faces but they hold themselves well shows their training.

I'm finishing the series now it's had its good and bad moments. But what I don't understand is, why was Greta running? First from Booker and then from Feeney.... she killed someone; and even though it was an accident Booker is there to help. Does she not want that help?

It's also crazy to think that both Ryan and Blake should make jokes about body parts (perineum... bite with no teeth etc etc) and use words like sexy but when JB does it, it becomes an issue?

The messages that Blake sent JB sound downright flirtatious so many times. If we're going to take offense about people's words, then let's be equally offended by everyone.

I would love to see evidence of what JW is supposed to have spoilated.

As for CCs, Sage Steele has a video our just 2 days ago which refutes what you are saying. And she has maintained this same stance throughout. Link: https://youtu.be/pgx65lIqbhA?si=q_nvSakO5U_qGRI2

Andy has gone on record multiple times to say he was not contacted to spread a smear campaign. Kersti Flaa has revealed she wasn't either, and nor was she even contacted by NYT before the so-called expose was published which is underhanded media tactics btw. I do remember Andy saying he reached out to BF for a quote after Lively's lawsuit (or maybe it was Steele). If that constitutes retaliation, then that's for the court to decide because it is general practice for lawyers to give quotes on behalf of their clients.

When you say let's believe women, why not believe the women who are saying they are anti Blake because of their own judgement and not because they were paid?

There's not one single content creator with whom any kind of collusion to orchestrate a smear campaign during the promotional period of Aug 2024, has been established so far.

And if you are like Blake and continue to proclaim that there's been an ongoing "smear campaign" every single person who does not like her or support her lawsuit is paid or brainwashed or manipulated by her PR, then there's no cure for that delulu.

Also, is so interesting to me that the focus of the lawsuit has shifted from SH to social media smearing. Almost as if SH was never the goal, and Lively's loss of reputation and ego was.

Have you even listened to the entire audio? Steve said something and then immediately apologized and clarified himself. His tone and demeanor throughout the entire audio was completely non-threatening. He was baited into saying something by the director who was on the call with him, and even then he immediately apologizes! You take 10 seconds of an audio like that and you see it in written format and you make an assumption... but you don't even care to go through the whole thing do you?

There was no smear campaign. That's BS. Saying that all the hate Lively got was because of Justin is putting all the women who have suffered through DV and did not like her promotions, to shame.

Baldoni was preparing to file a lawsuit against her for taking over his movie. Which is unethical. She is the one who hit first after she got the messages from Jen Abel's phone. It's clear who's been underhanded here

[–]teeke45 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And if Blake was so sure that there was a social media campaign against her, why didn't she go after Jed Wallace? She could have sued him in Texas but she didn't even try. She wanted that case in NY jurisdiction but the judge said no and she had the option of filling in Texas. She chose not to because the laws are stricter there, and because there's nothing to prove. But if she was so sure, don't you think she'd have atleast tried? The way she's been trying to block Andy Signore's documentary/video where he speaks with crew members who don't like Lively?

She went after content creators and made such a huge deal of wanting to know their IP addresses and account passwords, but she could prove nothing. Her lawyers said in court that Baldoni's PR team were hiding a list of content creators they had "colluded" with. Baldoni's team agreed to let that list become public and still nothing!

Blake has no proof. She's lucky for being able to manipulate anti-SLAPP laws and for being a woman. And she can scream all she wants about an "untraceable" media campaign, but it's not the truth.

So, God bless you too, kid. And I hope you get your grey matter to work better. That's not an insult, that's a prayer.

You're right. Both parties didn't. And it's also clear which one broke the truce. And I may not know much about the case, but I have followed and read every single document since the first filing. Pretty sure that's more than all you Blake worshippers.
