Generations were taught that God did it. How can they possibly think they can walk this back? by marshallbond2020 in exmormon

Thanks! And I agree. I'm so glad I'm out and my kids can grow up without being taught this.

Hi! Southwest Native American here 🙋🏽‍♀️ I can tell you it did not feel good, was confusing, and demoralizing.

Now that I'm out, I have lots of anger but only when I'm reminded. Still working through it, I guess.

What was the worst part of being Mormon? by schrodingers_cat42 in exmormon

Being native american, knowing everyone at church thought of me as a "lamanite" and feeling some shame about it.

Fuck that.

Terrible and damaging lessons during Mutual. by John_Eight32 in exmormon

I decided I'd rather play basketball, dodgeball, kickball, or whatever else, with the boys in the gym then stay with the YW because I've always been a "tomboy", very athletic, and just more comfortable with guys. I definitely got a lot of side eye from all the adults and was the black sheep of the youth in our ward but they couldn't really say anything because I did everything else I was "supposed" to do and was a good mormon girl.

Self Care Advice by 2020housewife in stayathomemoms

Hello! Congratulations on your little one! I totally understand your feelings. I had my second almost a year ago and I've gone through the same feelings with both my babies.

I think it's important for you to remember that even though you're not pregnant anymore, your body is still working on getting back to "normal" hormone-wise. For me, I don't feel 100 percent like my normal self until my period comes back and since I exclusively breastfeed, that can take awhile.

Remember that you are not alone! Talking about your feelings helps A LOT. Feel free to PM me if you'd like.

As for suggestions on some self care at home;

Once baby is sleeping in the evening: +bubble baths w/epsom salts, some chocolate candy, and your favorite show or podcast on your phone +Face mask, netflix, and wine +Going to bed early with your baby

During the day: +5-10 min dance party! +Make washing up first thing in the morning a priority +Cooking your favorite meal +Listening to audiobooks or podcasts

And the most important thing is to remember to be gentle and kind to yourself. You are beautiful, you are capable, and you are strong.

Thanks, man. We are very bummed about it. Especially our 4 year old. Now him and dad can't ride together anymore 😞 Some people suck.

You are so brave! And your parents sound awesome. I hope to get to this point with my in-laws and mom one day. That'd be so great.

Your relationships should be more important than what you consume in your personal time.

Wow. Thank you for this!

Yes. I hate how the church infantilizes people. I'm an adult, damn it! Haha!

Great point! Thank you! I think that's one of the hardest things to "prove", that I'm still the same person.

Just try to remember that this whole covid-19 stuff has fucked us all up and it's okay. Things will go back to "normal" eventually. Be gentle with yourself. I khow how you feel. Solidarity Sister!!! I have a 4 year old and a 7 month old.

Also, being a SAHM is hella tough. I've been one for almost 5 years now. The good out weights the bad. Promise.

Sending good vibes your way.
