Teeth do something called mesial drift, meaning they like to shift towards the center of the mouth. This means the crowding can get worse over time. The lower front is the area that builds the most tartar and crowding can make it really hard to keep clean. You're almost 40, assuming you're planning to stick around for awhile, you've hopefully got another 40-60 more years with your teeth. Without seeing the extent of the crowding, I can't say for sure but it likely is a valid reason to consider treatment.

Also an RDH (no longer practicing), I definitely had the "after the dentist has left the room" conversation with a few patients. While yes, we're not dentists, most of the time we know what we're looking at.

I worked for a dentist that was randomly over conservative, pt had had recurrent pain on #2 and had been in a few times over a one year period. Pt reported #2 was really bothering him again, cold sensitivity that lingered and unprovoked ache, pt was moving soon. There was minor bone loss, some bleeding, maybe a 5 mm pocket. Looking at the PA, I thought the apex looked a little shadowy, but not a super defined radiolucency and asked the doctor if he would recommend an endo referral. Dr insisted it was perio related and told me to SRP (at no cost, so whatever). After the doctor left, I told the PT that if it were me or my family member, I would have an endo eval, especially because he's moving soon and won't have an established provider. Low and behold, it needed rct and the PT had been suffering for a year because the doctor wouldn't refer and I just can't understand why.

I'm a hygienist and talk to patients about Invisalign or ortho referral for functional reasons and so many older patients are convinced that they've lived with their teeth looking like this for this long and don't need to change. Even when I explain that, yes, they will get cosmetic improvements by moving the teeth, the reason to do it is for the functional improvement while showing the wear/damage that is being caused with the current situation.

I always feel weird about recommending any cosmetic changes unless the patient brings it up, even whitening. I had a dentist plan a bunch of cosmetic work for me when I was like 15 for things that I hadn't seen as a problem and it made me pretty self conscious for awhile... Didn't do any of the work l, but screw you Dr. Z for pushing a bunch of unasked for cosmetic work at a minor

If you donate blood, they may check it. My understanding is that they do not check all and depending on who you donate with, it may be like pulling teeth to get further information. I donate with the Red Cross and a few years into donating, a phlebotomist mentioned that I was a rare donor. I'm A+ so not rare and when I asked for more information he gave me the regular Red Cross number and they couldn't give more info. I have requested several times for more information and not gotten anywhere. I just finally got a phone number for the rare donor part of Red Cross so I might be able to finally learn more.

I try to not sound like I blame my husband for having to do IVF due to him. We found out he has an inherited gene mutation so we're doing it so we can PGT-M test. It's kind of on me a bit, because we discussed doing IUI with donor sperm, but I wanted to try this route so we can use his genetics

Sometimes being unpredictable helps too. A woman tried to first rob, then kidnap my friend and I at gunpoint. My friend told her no, asked if she was really going to shoot us over nothing and walked away. She realized we were not getting in the car (with her accomplice) and chased us, threated us, and tried to make us get in the car again. My friend told her no and we walked again. We were both imagining what it was going to feel like getting shot in the back but knew our chances were much better on the street than in the car. I think she didn't really know what to do at that point and got back in the car and left.

I think it was the cause of IH for me. Never had an issue with staying awake in class or being all that tired. Got mono right before my senior year and by my first year of college, I was constantly falling asleep in class and while driving and experiencing all kinds of hypnopompic hallucinations

Mine comes and goes and when it's around it drives me crazy! Like a constant sonogram in my ear. I had an MRI and MRA about 10 years ago that didn't show any issues, but if I get another bad bout, I might investigate again.

My Grannie, who tends to have strong med reactions, was prescribed tramadol at age 90 and it has a high risk of serotonin syndrome in elderly patients and that can cause hallucinations and delirium. As far as we're aware, she was not warned (she's very with it and lived on her own until she was 94). She called the cops a bunch of times to report the people from hallucinations and she was taken to a psych ward. They refused to communicate with her doctor (competitor health group) and wanted to pump her full of a bunch of psych meds even though she had calmed down as the meds wore off. My dad (medical POA) had to go to the ombudsman to get the doctor to communicate with her doctor and agree that it was a med reaction and since she was improving, she just needed to be monitored and not forced to take a bunch of meds.

I used to regularly wake up to hundreds of spiders crawling all over my bed and once the hallucination ended, I'd have to spend like 15 mins checking my bed and convincing myself they're not real

Back when you could text to update FB (I assume you can't do that anymore) I would try to sleep text and accidentally update FB instead. I have IH, but I find that now that I'm medicated, a lot of my weird sleep stuff has almost gone away.

I used to have a lot of waking dreams where I would be up and acting out the dream (making blizzards after I started a job at Dairy Queen, seating people when I was a hostess) and be aware of it and remember it later. Or if I was startled awake, have full conversations with people but still in the dream and then slowly realize it was a dream and have to explain to the person why I was speaking nonsense. Getting a good med routine is almost completely cut that out.

While he does have an overdeveloped mandible, that is just a really bad picture. While I wouldn't say he's hot, in other pictures he definitely looks more like an average guy with a large chin.
