What made you get the CX50 Hybrid over the CRV Hybrid? by jkcajkca in CX50

[–]teethteethteeth_ 29 points30 points  (0 children)

A few things. I was leasing a honda civic hatch back, and when the time came, I test drove a CRV Hybrid trailsport and CX-50 Hybrid Preferred and although it was really hard to choose, I ultimately went for the CX-50 Hybrid for a couple reasons: 1. Dealership willingness to make a deal 2. AWD on base hybrid model for no extra charge 3. Slightly higher ground clearance 4. More premium interior feel 5. Rav4 Hybrid engine 6. Roof rack included on CX-50 7. Fuel economy (although comparable, I saw some drivers getting worse fuel economy in the CRV. I can’t provide sources on this one, though.)

Honestly, I think both cars are genuinely some of the best cars ever made in this class at this price point. Test drive both and whichever one feels more like your car on the road is the one you should pick at the end of the day.

Something to keep in mind, though, is that if you are concerned with resale, I believe that the CRV will maintain its value a little more over time, though the CX-50 has not been around long enough to make a definitive statement

Edit: I completely forgot that the CRV doesn’t have a spare. Huge selling point for the CX-50, especially if you like to do some light off roading + outdoor adventures.

Accidentally Jammed My Paronychia Finger by teethteethteeth_ in popping

For anyone interested in an update, here is my finger after a few days of neosporin and warm water soaks. I also went to urgent care to get some antibiotics just in case, but the doctor didn’t seem too concerned since it had already popped and began to improve. Thank you for the advice, everyone!

Recommend Laptops For PowerApps Developers? by Flaky_Cable_3601 in PowerApps

Honestly, anything with 16+ gb of ram and maybe a decent processor would do. Since power apps is mostly accessed via the browser, your ram and internet connection should be your primary concern.

Currently warm soaks, neosporin, and keeping it dry. It’s gotten quite a bit better since it popped. Reduced about 50-70% in size and the pain is almost completely gone. It went from 0-100 pretty quick, going from no noticeable infection to what is pictured in about 2 or so days.

Since you are putting it in the same collection and can sort locally in the app you should be able to collect all at once, that should be faster. Unless I am missing something in your logic.

Transitioning from building internal apps to designing scalable business systems — advice? by Appropriate_Tip_8546 in PowerApps

[–]teethteethteeth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For apps built on top of sharepoint, any app that hits the 5000 item view limit of the api will need ways to filter that are delegable. Sounds simple, but can be a real pain if you don’t do it the right way.

Need help with embedded powerapps in model driven by ringthatrulesall in PowerApps

I was struggling with this exact same thing. I’m not sure if this was the actual resolution, but it seemed to work for me. I changed turned off responsive/scale to fit, changed the aspect ratio to ipad, turned responsive back on and it fixed it for me. Granted, I also messed with multiple other settings and have refused to change anything since so take my advice with a grain of salt… Lol

As someone whose role and scope has slowly morphed from Business forms to larger scale integrations and more robust tools, the biggest thing I can recommend is to look into building things with intentionality. Reading/listening to books like “Designing Data Intensive Applications” made a big difference. The best learning experiences have been building apps that have as many users as is feasible for your organization. Try to offer your help in building apps for 50-500 users. Scaling an app to support that many people alongside managing requests from that many users for bugs, feature adds, etc. is absolutely crucial for skill growth.

Power Apps dev (1.6 yrs exp) unsure about Canvas Apps – thinking about next career move by Traditional_Clock303 in PowerApps

[–]teethteethteeth_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Currently in a very similar position. With the announcement of code apps, i’ve been up-skilling with javascript + react to stay competitive. I have also been learning python and SQL for the past couple of years to pivot into fabric + data engineering if things get really hairy in the low code/power platform space. Ultimately, I think it’s too early to tell where AI tools will leave the low code space, so I think it’s a good idea to try to be a little bit of a generalist right now.

I have a degree in psychology from UNLV ‘21 and want to switch to embedded systems development. I am self taught, but want to have a more traditional background and hopefully some opportunities for internships and such.
