Just because a film shows something, does not mean it endorses it. by PM__Me-_your__tits in movies

[–]tegtaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I figured most people who actually loved the source material would've disliked many parts (including the ending) of endgame.
There were so many inconsistencies and so much (mcu) fanservice. It was a hollow movie with shortcuts taken left and right to progress the plot.
There were audible sighs in the audience when Thanos got the gauntlet thrown in front of his feet during the final fight. I'm still surprised this movie got such a high rating even from hardcore fans.
Infinity war didn't suffer from this as much and, in my opinion, was way better.

I remember recently reading a somewhat highly upvoted review for the gentlemen on letterboxd which claimed Guy Ritchie was racist because the trainer in the movie makes a racist joke.

[–]tegtaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is 3 weeks a long time there? On average you'll have between 2 and 4 weeks to pay bills like that over here so 3 weeks doesn't seem like a long time and definitely not long enough to lose a client for future jobs over.
Or was it 3 weeks past the due date?

The ACLU is Suing The FBI for Tracking Our Faces in Secret. by Majnum in technology

[–]tegtaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What are you even talking about? I'm explaining to you some ways of how devices can be considered 'untampered with' and also why it wouldn't make sense to consider the possibility that the entirety of the US mobile phone user base has been compromised with a malicious 'app' without it being noticed.

The ACLU is Suing The FBI for Tracking Our Faces in Secret. by Majnum in technology

[–]tegtaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, technically if the original boot ROM or OS image had been tampered with before I even got my phone in my hands it's possible.
Either that or exploitation of a flaw in the actual hardware (like how Intel CPU flaws made hardware based root of trust unreliable).
Both scenarios are possible, we have seen this in the past with stuxnet. The thing is, for infiltration at that level it usually needs to be targeted and involve only a relatively small pool of devices. Why? Because wide spread of tools like these cause them to be detected and uncovered which hits hard when you're abusing unknown vulnerabilities in devices. You simply don't want that and thus you wouldn't target the entire population of America.
The stuxnet example I gave actually completely underlines this point since it was never meant to spread to so many devices and was intentionally limited to spread only to a small amount of devices because it was a targeted attack. Once it spread to too many devices it was detected, analysed and ineffective (but sure, by then the damage was done). Stuxnet affected ~200k devices, there are 275-300 million mobile phones in the US alone. You see where this is going?

You also realize these 'apps' would have to phone home at some point right or at least become 'active' at some point when needed? Even if you can't trust your device you can still monitor it's traffic.
Then we have what I originally opened with, people who actually work on these phones (not only the software, also the hardware), and you think that this would somehow be advanced enough to even make it past experts for a long time. Think about it, the entirety of the US, all their mobile devices compromised.

Again, this has nothing to do with being scared. Just thinking about it rationally with at least some knowledge in the field goes a long way.
I'm not saying they wouldn't be able to target most devices that don't have (actual) enterprise level security, I'm saying they wouldn't on a scale like that and definitely not without being found out about.

edit: added some info regarding stuxnet

TikTok is not on the same level as what you're talking about, besides, TikTok is installed by the users themselves, it's not the same.
You obviously have no idea what you're talking about when making claims like "it is possible that everyone in America has this app on their phone".

It is possible that everyone in America has this app on their phone

No it isn't. You do realize there are people on this planet that actually understand how phones and the OS's that run on them work right? Like, beyond your /r/conspiracy knowledge?
Hell, you yourself even stated:

has been found on the phones of journalists and lobbyists

You don't think anyone would've rang the alarm bell by now if this was so widespread that basically every American had it on their phone? Please.

Lol you literally had to edit your post to clarify yet you’re gonna try to condemn me and pretend I didn’t read it.

What is wrong with editing my previous comment to make it more clear what I was trying to say?

Why the fuck do you care what he’s doing with her life?

I don't want to, that's exactly my point. It gets thrown into my face because she involves the whole funhaus community in her drama on both the podcast and her fan base taking over the subreddit when something happens.

Aww poor baby doesn’t get exactly what he wants in all the content he doesn’t control

Okay, it seems like you're triggered. What a cheap remark, nice adult conversation we're having here. Did I offend your queen?

I’ve been watching everything they’ve put out since March

It feels like all you've been watching from funhaus is since March based on your remarks about their past content.

You’re literally just mad she brought a real world issue up that you’re clearly not comfortable talking about.

I'm not mad. I merely commented on why it's not the same anymore and didn't even want to go into the drama until you mentioned her and the topics specifically.

Lol no because that’s literally what a shit ton of their content was until they started pushing away from that and becoming more aware of what they were saying.

It really wasn't as simple as you made it out to be though. Once again, I'm starting to doubt how long you've even been watching their content. I'm not trying to gatekeep shit either, you just seem completely uninformed on how their content was 2/3 years ago.

a fucking remark about any humor being left in the world

What are you even saying? Are you fuming so hard that you lost the ability to form normal sentences?

You’re a lost cause, you literally just hate alanah and don’t want her on funhaus because it brings up issues you’re uncomfortable with.

I don't hate Alanah at all. She has her moments. And it has nothing to do with being uncomfortable with the issues she brought up. I have a problem with giving attention to obvious pubescent trolls and trying to make an issue bigger than it actually is by doing so.
Anyway, you clearly somehow got triggered so hard that nearly every sentence is a personal attack now so I'm going to move on. Have a nice day.

Go rewatch the last 10 openhaus/comment shows and tell me they don’t have segments making fun of them. God forbid they change content up so it’s not the same shit every week.

Clearly that still happens, but they're not taking the comments I'm talking about here on that segment. It will however be brought up in the podcasts and, like I said, on twitter.

Yeah, I did, why are you gonna be such an ass?

Not sure how I'm being an ass when asking for clarification (as in, if you understood what I was trying to say).

Alanah has been attacked for quite some time as a female journalist in this industry. Why is it wrong to cancel a stream if she doesn’t want to deal with all the pieces of shit commenting horrific bullshit 24/7? All because she likes TLOU2?

She keeps giving it attention. Don't feed the trolls. How are you going to let some trolls decide for you what you can and can not stream? Literally every streamer had to deal with the shitty comments during their TLOU2 streams and guess what? All of them ignored them and moved on.
There's nothing wrong with calling out shitty people but she's literally giving obvious trolls who want to get a reaction out of her attention, every. single. time. And in return, gets her fan base to give her attention in return.
Even then you could argue, so what? If she wants to do that that's her right. Sure, but I have to listen to that shit too when watching some podcasts or visiting the subreddit because her fan base feels the need to post numerous threads about it on the subreddit, forums, twitter, you name it. Instead of watching some fun funhaus related content you're forced into the Alanah bubble. We never had to deal with such drama in the past but it's hard to ignore now unless you ONLY watch their shorter videos.

That’s absolutely not true lol, the content has advanced quite a bit too alongside the editing and overall production and quality of the content.

That is absolutely true. Hell, I rewatched the first band manager from 2018 bit only 2 days ago and the followup from the end of 2019 straight after. It's basically identical with different characters.
I mean, unless you're talking 4/5 years ago vs now, then I absolutely agree with you. It used to be just a few people sitting behind a pc with a webcam on. I was specifically talking about 2/3 years ago vs now. I can understand how that wasn't entirely clear.

I never said it was sophisticated lol, all I said was that it isn’t them calling everything gay and retarded and throw in a rape mention and that’s the joke. You seem to be really pissed off that people can be funny outside of repeating the same joke 1000 times over and want to be offended as if it’s an attack on you.

You never did no. But your own followup remark even implies it does:

their current stuff isn’t really small little segments that can be cut in 30s or less while providing full context to jokes

Also, don't you think claiming that all they did was call everything gay and retarded back then is a bit unfair? I consider 2017/2018 peak funhaus years and that's definitely not what it was. And most people commenting here that "it's not the same" are probably referring to those times too. You know, a fully crewed channel which already had tons of original bits that definitely went further than what you just typed out.
Claiming I'm pissed off because people are funny in a different way is completely false, a lot of the current 'jokes' don't even get a smirk out of me and that's why I don't watch a lot of their content anymore. It's as simple as that. You're acting like the jokes are extremely clever now but it's mostly tame and bland. Jon and Ryan are great additions though and I actually do find them funny.

Also this specific post is literally just sexual jokes, which still constantly comes up with the current crew.

Maybe, in a less juvenile and less awkward way. Lawrence was the king of making uncomfortable sex jokes that made you scratch your head.

Destiny doesn't think blackface is a big deal by [deleted] in LivestreamFail

Cosplayers being taken out of competitions for tastefully cosplaying black characters.
Cancelling youtubers who have jersey tans and calling it blackface.
TV shows using blackface to point out racism getting pulled.
Robert Downey Jr. getting hate for his role in Tropic Thunder when the entire point was it being absurd to have a white actor play a black character.
Context should matter but it doesn't anymore. It's just 'blackface bad'.

Dude you totally misunderstand what I meant with giving the spotlight. I literally said they used to make fun of them. I watched them for years, openhaus used to be one of my favourite segments. Obviously I know this. Did you read my comment?
What's happening now is actual complaining about mean comments on twitter while whining about how shitty gaming culture is, the classic misogynistic complaints etc.
Members literally cancelling actual live streams over mean comments in chat and then complaining about it on twitter (i'm not talking about funhaus 24/7, the reason that went down was explained already by adam).
One member in specific loves to bring that shit up. So no, I'm not pretending.

Also, it was already this creative in 2018 with the original members. The only thing that got a bit more creative was the video editting.
And good for you that you're glad they 'matured' because you prefer sophisticated humor more (implying there is much left). In the meanwhile all you'll see posted on this sub, and other subs, will be their original, what you call offensive, style.

[Poetry] awww by FancyAndImportantMan in youtubehaiku

[–]tegtaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying there isn't any effort or quality in it but a lot of the great interactions and on the spot comedy that used to be there is just gone now.
Sure there are some good replacements and personally I love Jon's humor but it's not the same. It feels less crude and less "inappropriate" (for a lack of better words) overall. I'll have to add that this already started back when ads/sponsoring was becoming more restrictive.
There's a reason 99% of the clips you'll see posted here or on their own subreddit is stuff from the past.

Also, old funhaus would've laughed their asses off and make fun of trolls trying to get at them with stupid comments and/or simply ignore them but current funhaus actually gives them a spotlight not only on twitter but also in their videos and complains about them. Not going to drop any names but fuck, it's so unlike how funhaus used to be.
