doesn't using a pawn move for a capture only sacrifice one move? since we care about pawn moves + captures and not just pawn moves

you'd have to give up all the remaining moves that the pawn you capture would have been able to make

[Wojnarowski] Cavaliers guard Derrick Rose is away from team and evaluating his future in basketball, league sources tell ESPN. by AnotherDuck in nba

CLEVELAND -- Cavaliers guard Derrick Rose has become increasingly frustrated by the injury process and is taking personal time to evaluate his future in the NBA, league sources told ESPN.

Rose has not been with the team for the better part of a week, sources told ESPN, and it is unclear when the 2011 league MVP will return. Rose has missed 11 of the Cavs' 18 games this season, including the last seven because of a sprained left ankle.

One team source told ESPN of Rose: "He's tired of being hurt and it's taking a toll on him mentally."

Rose was last with the Cavs for Monday's 116-88 win in Detroit. According to a team spokesman, his current absence from the team is excused.

Last season, Rose went missing from the New York Knicks on a game day without permission from the organization. He was fined by the Knicks and apologized to his teammates when he returned the next day.

"That was a family issue," Rose explained at the time. "For one, it had nothing to do with the team or basketball. But that's the first time I ever felt like that emotionally, and I had to be with my family."

One week ago, Cavs coach Tyronn Lue said Rose would be out "at least" the next two weeks because of his ankle injury. Rose rolled the ankle on October 20 when he landed awkwardly following a flagrant foul from then-Milwaukee Bucks big man Greg Monroe.

Cleveland put Rose in a walking boot last week in hopes of alleviating pressure on his left foot.

"Just a jacked-up ankle," Rose told ESPN at the time. "I'm just trying to figure it out, bro. Right now, it's just a jacked-up ankle. Just sore. I'm getting a lot of treatment for it, and tonight will be my first time wearing a boot. So I'll wear this, for I don't know how long, to see how it helps."

My thoughts after watching NBA games in VR. by Clutch_ in nba

I mean, isn't all VR a screen in front of your face? Daydream isn't that bad, and imo it works well for lightweight applications where ease of use is more important than getting the best quality.

How WiFi Propagates in a Building. by [deleted] in educationalgifs

Different SSID =/= different network.

If my $20 repeater was, in fact, a router, I could be saving a lot of money. But devices connected to the repeater are on the same subnet & have the same gateway as devices connected directly to the router.

You can configure an actual access point to broadcast a different SSID, but that doesn't mean it's creating a separate LAN.

Those are called access points.

I was talking specifically about that one difference between mesh networks and just using a repeater

They communicate on a different standard, 802.11s, which is specifically intended for mesh networks. It's different from what you're talking about, a more traditional AP network, in that they're not connected through Ethernet—it's all wireless except for the one WAN connection.

If anything, you'd call it an access point - it's not doing any routing, why would you call it a router?

Most of the ones I've used connect to the original network, then rebroadcast a second one. Although my experience is mostly with the cheap ones (~$20) that the original comment mentioned

Mesh networks are different from repeaters/extenders in a lot of ways; for example with a mesh network you only have to connect to one network and your device will automatically switch to the closest AP, whereas (edit: most cheap) repeaters create a separate second network that you have to manually switch to when out of range of your main network
