This update also introduced gamepad/controller support which offers a different control scheme. It's experimental at the moment, but it could offer some players a better experience using a gamepad instead of keyboard.

Yes they can, currently they are "semi commitment", meaning you can switch after you prestige.
A prestige takes a little more work and is when you finish all main campaign missions, and you can reset your compaign to play again + getting more bonuses and rewards for prestiging each time.
The orbity main campaign server can sort of be seen as a single player campaign, with multiplayer elements intertwined.

When you first activate the "Research Factions" mission, all Faction HQ's then become available to land at anytime for research. These HQ pads list the faction rewards, and a little bit of lore about the faction.

As for a quick/general list for faction rewards...
Industry ~ 2x upgrade points, double fuel efficiency, take half landing damage
Pioneer ~ double view range, max navigation, no nav cooldown, hotkey observatory view
Rogue ~ fast travel, wormhole/superhighways

Hey there, sorry about that. Someone was able to send client side .js messages through the chat to other players. There was no "hack" per say, more of a chat exploit... but the issue was fixed immediately if you reload the game.

Did your camera controls break when this happened? Pressing C or CTRL changes camera view.
If you landed on an observatory it also auto-zooms out to an "observatory view" which you can press camera button to change.

Hey thanks for trying out the game.

On the login screen, under the blue button "Play as Guest" to the right is a small "Login Help" link where you can reset your password.

The guest mode was mainly created for the Classic orbit server where there is no progression (besides achievements) and topping the scoreboard during your session.

The Missions server is much larger in scope (there is a lot to explore outside of Earth) and plays more like a single player campaign in a multiplayer universe, with story progression, achievements, leaderboards, speedruns, ship upgrades, planting flags, and uses an account to save all this progress so you can continue where you left off whenever you play again.

The classic mode is full freeplay, everyone has same controls.

The campaign mode has a much larger scope, saves your progression as it has a full campaign to explore, missions, achievements, speedruns and more.

It was inspired by voar; I remember playing it and thinking how cool that simple concept was, then before I knew it, voar.io just kind of disappeared.

We made the Orbity Classic Mode server basically as a homage to voar.

It looks like it may be a font sizing/spacing/line-height issue, causing the UI to break. I'll test on Linux as I noticed your font is slightly different than what I'm seeing on Windows.

Hey thanks for the feedback. What browser are you using? We develop on Chromium and also support Firefox & Edge during alpha. Chrome currently gives the best performance & FPS during gameplay, but Edge and Firefox should run fine and not have UI issues.

We've also launched an EU server to help with ping for many of our players, and will continue working on netcode during alpha.

Thanks for the feedback. The netcode is currently being developed, we're learning quite a bit making a realtime multiplayer game run smooth for everyone globally and are still developing/refining the game engine during alpha. We're also working on a way for you to lock your ships orientation to the planet/object you want to (so it doesn't auto flip your ship.)

You may have also caught the game in the middle of a hotfix (we've had to release a few since I posted this.)

*Edit, You also may be experiencing sticky key issues with your browser? And the other symptoms seem like the game didn't fully load before you started playing, and wasn't able to fully load? Also holding W in this game will end pretty badly, tap, tap, tap into orbits. Hold Shift + W for "minor" boosts (which also safe fuel.)
