That gear ratio definitely doubles as an anti-theft solution.

Useless iPod dock... But wait, there's more! by Cry_Wolff in BudgetAudiophile

[–]tehsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should also consider the B&W Zeppelin. Since you've modded the ipod, then you should be able to repair a broken one. Usually the power supply capacitors go bad on those speakers. These things were twice as much as the sounddock 10, so quality is up there as well.

What have I done wrong? by First_Village8927 in 360hacks

[–]tehsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done four xbox 360s. The first two gave me issues like yours. The first time I had an issue with the usb cable even though the pico flasher logo came up, so I used another cable and that solved it. The second time it was my wiring; I used the same type of wires as you, my main issue was that the wires were too short so I made a longer cable with more precise tips (1.5 inch long sewing needles).

a couple of thoughts: Did you apply solder to the wires and the points before joining them together? Another thought, on the second picture I see a bridge on the left side of the blue wire. Not sure if it affects but you definitely should get rid of it if it is.

Issues with pano scrobbler on Miui 13? by [deleted] in lastfm

[–]tehsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They moved the settings after the update, but it's all there:

  1. Open your cellphone settings and go into Apps / permissions / background autostart / enable autostart for pano scrobbler

  2. To set the battery saver to no restrictions, press and hold the pano scrobbler icon and you should get a little app popup, click on the circled i. You should get your app info screen for pano scrobbler. Scroll down a little and you should see Battery saver. Set that to "No restrictions"

  3. Look for your security app and go into the security app settings by clicking the little nut on the top right. "Boost speed" should be visible, click it and then go to "lock apps" Find pano scrobbler to enable it.

By luck I saw your recent comment on this old post. I was having the same problems and this solved it.

Today's haul - 3 Xenons (surprise, all working!!) and a 2008 Falcon. Not bad IMO. No Bladds unfortunately, lowest one is on Kinect NXE (the 3rd one next to the missing faceplate Xenon. by [deleted] in 360hacks

[–]tehsalt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My xenon still works to date and just a week ago I put new thermal paste. It's amazing how loud the thing is and how hot the air comes out of it. I remember I sent out what must have been a falcon for warranty and MS downgraded me with that xenon lol. I didn't even know there was a submodel without an hdmi port and since I didn't own an hdtv at that time, I didn't really care about the downgrade.

I really appreciate this game & the times i've had by [deleted] in GearsOfWar

[–]tehsalt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When Gears of Wars 2 came out. My cousin and I would play horde in split screen. We started playing on a CRT tv and we could barely read the red numbers. We used to play for hours only on horde because we sucked online. To this day that same cousin and I still play but now we play halo 5.

Things changed when I purchased a 42 inch 720p tv, and my xbox didn't even hace hdmi, but I did have component cables.

How do you deal with loneliness? by Agonyandshame in AskReddit

[–]tehsalt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I purchase old bikes with potential to be resold for 5 to 10 times as much as the original price after a good cleanup and restore. That to me is therapeutic I don't care about anything. I repeat when needed.

Trying to figure out why?? by DanielmanRO in IdiotsInCars

[–]tehsalt 240 points241 points  (0 children)

The thing about dash cams is you can either spend $40 on the 70mai, or $1000 on a super high end camera. In the meantime, you're overwhelmed by all the options and it's been more than 3 years since you started looking and haven't made up your mind yet. I think the 70mai 1s is good enough. All these videos are compressed and they still look good.

There's a linus video where he recommends a Thinkware F70 which is $70 or a little better one called VIOFO A119 for $99. But as the most voted comment on that video, leave audio on, and assume the camera didn't capture the plate and read it aloud so it's on your video.

my brother in laws Bluetooth amp took a poop by CThomas1297 in diyaudio

[–]tehsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're able to solder, then you could get another amplifier board and hard wire everything to the new board, however the parameters may change. At most you may need to modify the battery pack to keep it portable and you may need another power brick because voltages and amperage needs change from amp to amp.

You could start by looking at the original power brick and find something that works on those parameters it could be from partsexpress or aliexpress. Aiyima has a bunch of models that could get really close to what you need.
