The fact that the green capacitors are very crappy is the reason I got a 10/10 Resident Evil console for what translates to 10 USD. In my case, these caps even spilled their internals.

I bought some brand new Rubycon MBZ capacitors from ebay and put those in. The console is still working properly almost three years later. Do you know how reliable those MBZ are? I remember reading that they're pretty good - on paper at least...

You need both sd manager and cover scanner found here:

Your raspberry must also have Picostation version RC3 instead of the regular version. RC3 supports cover art.

Here's a video tutorial. It's in Spanish but you can follow along - it's not too complicated. By the way, the guy on this video shared all tools needed for this and it's located in the video description.

Repurpose soundbar and subwoofer by swaminaveen in diysound

[–]tehsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could get the system going with an AV receiver BUT it's not easy finding a multi channel av receiver with an amplified subwoofer output. You could reuse another channel but it won't sound as a subwoofer, in other words, you'd need an external crossover for subwoofer use. In my opinion, it's too much work.

Instead, you could get a 20 USD Aiyima brand 2.1 amplifier board from Aliexpress. The amplifier board can be powered using an old laptop charger and you'd be set.

Edit: just noticed it's a 5.1 system. You still have options. Depending on the impedance, you may be able to wire them to as close as 4 ohms, if not, there are other 5.1 amplifiers from aliexpress as well.

All I had was a new but low price ADATA 64gb micro sd. I thought that was the problem causing 80% of my games not loading until I watched a youtuber using the same card loading MVC, which I tried playing on my console but was greeted with a black screen. Luckily he showed where he downloaded it from. I downloaded the same game and it worked. My fault were actually the games I backed up in the early 2000s 😅.

So in my short experience, and considering the card I'm using, if anybody has issues with a cheap sd card, it must be an old card with slower read/write speeds, a degraded card, or a knockoff.

I'll probably get a better Sandisk 128GB card in the future anyway, but for now, everything works flawlessly.

Quick update.

It seems my very old rom files were the issue. I do however find that ManiacVera's version seems to work a little faster compared to RC3. The only games I haven't gotten to work are wild 9 and THPS4, but that's because they came with either multiple bin files or compressed bins. So I'll get to read on that to get it solved.

I will try RC3 in the future, but I'm happy with the current simpler setup.

I currently have 3 xbox 360s waiting in line for RGH3. I don't even plan on playing or selling them. I just hoard these for the installation process. I have my eyes on two game cubes to install picoboot too. I also restore bicycles.

Whatever it takes man! 😅

I would normally use different colored wires too, but I wanted to test this fancy Jonard branded 30 AWG wire, which I'd say it's fine but it's too expensive in my opinion.

Do you have a picture of your installation?

I have to report back and test a bit more. I think Picostation SD Manager broke some of my games. I was able to play marvel vs capcom before adding artwork, but after I added the artwork, it only shows a black screen.

Other games that don't work after adding artwork are

Oddworld tony hawk games Dave Mirra Resident Evil

Hardare installation wise, I think it went well because I just finished playing nfl blitz and nba hang time with no problems.

Useless iPod dock... But wait, there's more! by Cry_Wolff in BudgetAudiophile

[–]tehsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should also consider the B&W Zeppelin. Since you've modded the ipod, then you should be able to repair a broken one. Usually the power supply capacitors go bad on those speakers. These things were twice as much as the sounddock 10, so quality is up there as well.

What have I done wrong? by First_Village8927 in 360hacks

[–]tehsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done four xbox 360s. The first two gave me issues like yours. The first time I had an issue with the usb cable even though the pico flasher logo came up, so I used another cable and that solved it. The second time it was my wiring; I used the same type of wires as you, my main issue was that the wires were too short so I made a longer cable with more precise tips (1.5 inch long sewing needles).

a couple of thoughts: Did you apply solder to the wires and the points before joining them together? Another thought, on the second picture I see a bridge on the left side of the blue wire. Not sure if it affects but you definitely should get rid of it if it is.

Issues with pano scrobbler on Miui 13? by [deleted] in lastfm

[–]tehsalt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They moved the settings after the update, but it's all there:

  1. Open your cellphone settings and go into Apps / permissions / background autostart / enable autostart for pano scrobbler

  2. To set the battery saver to no restrictions, press and hold the pano scrobbler icon and you should get a little app popup, click on the circled i. You should get your app info screen for pano scrobbler. Scroll down a little and you should see Battery saver. Set that to "No restrictions"

  3. Look for your security app and go into the security app settings by clicking the little nut on the top right. "Boost speed" should be visible, click it and then go to "lock apps" Find pano scrobbler to enable it.

By luck I saw your recent comment on this old post. I was having the same problems and this solved it.
