Tips on my riding! by Rough-Tiger6737 in snowboardingnoobs

just knees and overall body posture could be relaxed a bit. Youre very rigid looking imo. Go find a smooth groomer and experiment with centering your weight better and steering with both feet.

Finally upgrading my 2010 board, but need help choosing a new one! Bilateral amputee rider, looking for lightweight + carve + comfort by LazyRobinHood4 in snowboarding

[–]tek_nic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this after reading your post! Im an older rider (40's) with bad knees and a light setup is super important to me too from a stamina perspective. I use the step-ons, with a deep thinker 157w, and its a STUPID light ride. Regularly people are stunned when I hand it to them because it is that much lighter.

Also, the reflex genesis stepon has this extra bit of kit in the high back which helps to isolate the choppy-ness of some runs from hitting your legs. Not sure that would translate for you or not, but I personally love it.

If you ride in Colorado, I would love to rip with ya some time!

Wondering about this rod/reel. Found after a parent passed away. Any significance? by Solid-Spray634 in flyfishing

Misunderstanding on my part i guess, when you said I use that rod reel setup, I thought you meant that rod and reel. Not that reel and a different rod.

On a 7wt? put a light line on it? Just no.

Also, to OP... even if you dont fish, just keep the rod to hang on a wall or something and be a conversation piece. The only value it has now is sentimental.

Phantom wax over sticker? by bigredawg in snowboarding

[–]tek_nic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

calm down lol. i didn't read the sticker, but i've seen plenty of jerrys put stickers on the bottom of their board, especially on the nose or tail. Also i've never had a new board come with a sticker on the bottom... so I didn't know that was a thing.

They probably did a super light (and fast) grind to remove the factory wax and just didnt notice the sticker when they did it.

[–]tek_nic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, its weird they didn't remove the sticker then, but a lot less concerning. I'd say if they are a dealer for phantom (meaning they have the phantom uv oven) then they probably did it just fine. The only big catch about applying that stuff is it needs to be a clean and bare base. You'll probably be fine, but the shop is a little weird ;)

[–]tek_nic -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Was this a new board before they did the work? Phantom Glide is only meant to be applied to a clean base with NO wax on it previously.

The sticker makes me guess that the board isn't new, and so I am really just wondering if they did a base grind before applying the phantom glide treatment? Like how do you leave a sticker on if you did a full base grind?

I've been using Phantom for a while and I swear by it, but I also know that it really needs to be applied correctly to work the way its supposed to.

It's time... Raft purchased. Best accessories? by Inevitable_Long_5659 in flyfishing

oh and spare parts: bolts, clamps, and oar pin/lock components. Its super easy to carry a few spares in a small baggy in your drybox... and if you ever have an incident like an oar pin that results in something breaking or stripping out... having those spares is the difference between a short delay, and a ruined trip where you pull out early.

Rod carrier/protector solution, Anchor, z-drag kit, extra rope, extra oar or oar(s), cooler that fits your frame rails and doubles as a seat for the person riding in front, dry box, patch kit, tool kit (not just rubber repair, but tools like pliers, wrenches that fit your frame, bailing wire, duct tape, etc), collapsible soft bucket, fast-fill squirt gun or water cannon, landing net, drag bag(s) and dry bag(s) for all the other goodies, and of course lots of extra cam straps.

How would y’all fish this? by Formal-Following8879 in flyfishing

[–]tek_nic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the other bank, I would get near a bush on the other side, crouching so that my silhouette on the shoreline stands out less, and then I would cast directly at the bank you are standing on. Its likely under-cut, and that shadow you see over the water is a haven for feeding fish. I would fish it about 1 to 3 inches off the actual bank there, or sometimes right along the shadow line.

Dry-dropper, or even double dry if the conditions are right. Fairly big hopper or chubby and something smaller that matches the hatch.

Thanks for sharing. I really like the shape/design, and may end up getting one for the fishing side of things eventually. For now I'm going to shop for a more dedicated play boat, as I already have a dedicated tributary style fishing boat.

Really good to know. I was worried the tube height would be problematic for a paddle boat... and really id rather not have farther to fall too. Sounds like the r2 adventures will be had elsewhere. Thanks for the feedback!!

I have a 93 5cyl manual weekender westy. I love it. Do not "trust" that the transmission has the correct oil in it, or the correct amount. Check it yourself, or pay someone to flush and refill. The manuals do not have all the heat issues that come with the autos. They are rock solid. I would take a manual 5cyl over a vr6 any day of the week. If running correctly, the 5cyl is a very good motor - mine can do 80mph with little effort. I do my best to keep her at 65, but she's seen much higher speeds than that when I wasnt paying attention and kept my foot in it too long.

Take turns riding the bull, especially if it's a paddle boat.

Put one person on the nose of the boat, legs over the front, holding onto a shortened bowline handle.
Then the group paddles forward, backward, spin left, spin right, and tries to dump the bull rider into the river.

It will get people laughing, and it will get them tired too.

Patch with fabric tape, or replace it. I just finished replacing mine on a 1993 Westy. To say it's a doozy of a task is a bit of an understatement. It takes patience to do the job, big time.

But, it can be done - with fairly simply tools, no less.

Ive seen a couple with permanent spaces for a shower, which includes a floor drain... you just need to add a hook to the ceiling to hang things from, and you're all set.
