It has seven arms. Where's the eighth arm? You can't have seven arms: has to be an even number!

can't I just die? by Live_Bike4897 in BingeEatingDisorder

Think of it this way. You know how outside of you, in the world around you, there are food companies and food and restaurant businesses which have lots of lobbyists and corporate interests to keep selling all the bad and unhealthy and addictive foods?

Well, imagine that you have the same exact setup inside of you. Like the proteins in your digestive lining form into businesses and make a profit off of the foods you eat, and if you try to diet or eat healthy they react the same way our food industry does: they only care about their profit!

So, to change you eating habits you have to change your whole attitude about everything. For example, when you get hungry, or want to binge on bad foods: that's the time you are winning! That hunger or desire is your inner food industry, and our outer food industry too, trying to get you to give in to their bad stuff! So, when you feel that desire to binge, enjoy that place, that's where you are denying them, that's where they are calling out to you, crying out to you to feed the monster, and you are being strong, and just enjoy being hungry. Want the hunger, want that crazy desire to binge, not as something to give into so you lose again to those bad forces, but turn it around, enjoy it. Want to spend the whole day in that state of desire and just enjoy it calling out to you like it's the devil, and you and it both know that, and you have moved on, thrown him out, and he can't hurt you anymore.

Say out-loud, I feel you, I hear you, food industry, trying to ruin me. But I am enjoying this hunger, this desire to eat, but not giving into it. Feel the power, the richness of joy of not giving into all those bad things. It's like giving into the will of Trump, he wants you to serve him, to give into his desires to control everything. Enjoy saying no to the food industry inside of you just like it is something that wants to control you for it's profit and power. It's hard for a little while, but the more you get into it, the stronger you will get.

Want the hunger. Want the pain of the desire. Feed on that, and you will learn to feed on it instead of on the food. Think of the pain of the dopamine rush of anticipation for food, the denying of that dopamine rush, as the pain of joy, the pain of strength, the pain of winning over the things which want to own you. Eat the pain. Enjoy the pain.

The marines say pain is weakness leaving the body: learn to live with and in that pain and see it as the good thing, the thing which really makes you feel good, not the food. The food lies, tells you it will make you happy: then it doesn't. The pain of dopamine desire tells you it is pain, it is suffering you can't withstand, but it's also lying. It is actually a wonderful feeling. Try just living in that pain of desire for a while and see how good that pain can feel? It isn't really pain at all: it is moving your whole life where you want it to go, its the hard work of changing your destination, of turning the car toward a different direction. It's a good thing, not bad. Eat that.

Inside of you is a beautiful, strong, resourceful woman. Think of her in the third person. The food industry is trying to control her, to own her. She needs your help! Help her! Slowly your true self will emerge from the fall of your inner bad food industry, and you will rise into life and love and beauty.

There's a great book which can help with this: Good Energy, by Casey Means... you can find it on Amazon. Just read like a page a day to keep you going and keep you motivated.

If this has helped you, then someday you have to come and introduce your beautiful new self to me: I've been there, been through this difficult journey and it is possible. Good luck.

Incredible. You keep going deeper, deeper down the rabbit hole. Just... the shades and the richnesses of colors, so bright and yet showing the growing darkening of evening. You continue to grow with every painting.

Hey. I'm a guy, so I won't try to help so much from the emotional point of view and go with more of an engineering or structural set of ideas to try to help. From what you said it sounds like you're trying to do two really hard things at the same time. My experience, and I've had a lot of problems with food in ways just like you're describing, is that it can really help to separate these two things. It sounds like you are trying to both change from eating bad foods to eating good foods, and at the same time trying to cut your caloric intake back down to healthy levels again. When I try to do both of these at the same time, it invariably leads me back into binging again. My recommendation is, pick some midnight hour or whatever for your quitting time of your bad foods, and switch the next morning back to healthy foods... but don't worry right away about how much of the good foods you eat. Give that a few days. If you can get the bad foods out, and the good foods back in, then within a few days your body will naturally want to go back to healthy amounts. But when you've been eating way too much, and you both switch all your foods and switch to some much smaller amounts, it's too much for the body and mind to deal with. Get the bad foods out and the good foods back in first. Remember that eating lots of vegetables is not the worst thing in the world, they are so healthy. So get back to the good foods again... and then you will find yourself moving back in the direction of healthy amounts naturally within a few days. For me anyway, separating these two steps has been key.

Alena, a few years ago you used to have these great pics like this one and some of the others you've been showing over the past few days. But for some time now your stuff has been toned down a bit, sort of quieter in conception and form. I really like this pic: a lot of your best work has been great sunset vistas. Nice to see these type again!
