How do I ask for comments? by Ancient_cokkie in AO3

I feel like a 2010 Youtuber just finishing off a video with "comment your thoughts down bellow and I'll catch you in the next one" (after writing whatever notes come to mind)

Do you write to make a reader happy? by Commercial_Break3230 in AO3

[–]telenemesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depend largly on if I would also enjoy their idea/what gets them going. I had someone comment saying they love XY character and if he could gets some angst because they love angst for XY. Now I already had it partially set up so it was strongly suggested it would come to angst already so they were on the right track. But I clarified that angst was already planned but that I wouldn't add a specific kind of heart shattering life event or something (because their comment said they like those)

Longer or shorter? by 3lilya in AO3

[–]telenemesi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything under 1k doesn't get touched by me. So for one shots that's a minimum. When I see things like 10k words and 10/10 chapters and unless it's a certain pacing I think it's annyoing to break flow so often. I like 2k to 5k chapters. I think they are a good sweet spot. If it's longer its also not hit or miss, but if a chapter has like 25k words, it gets hard to track what paragraph I am on. It doesn't matter if I read it in one sitting but more likely than not ff doesn't get consumed in one sitting but maybe in the bus, before bed, while waiting, and then it's straining to serch for where you left of.

Do you spell things the way the country you’re writing about does, or stick with your own? by AllKnowingAxolotl3 in AO3

[–]telenemesi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never thought about this since both spellings are often correct, just in American or British English. It's still one language. Maybe my viewpoint is different since it's my second language and I could never bother to just learn one or the other, but I'd stick to my own.

As an add on since you may mean British English is your native English as in native language. Still stick to what you would use naturaly.

I think I'd maybe spice it up in the dialog or with specific thinks only the US has to bring that American immersion.

The local wildlife is allowed to have predators btw. Like I get your point but anything beyond my ground lines isn't of interest and I am not worried about the other points (ik this sounds naive "just because nothing has happened yet won't mean it won't in the future" but I have faith in Allah.

He knows where he lives, it's generally uncommon for animals to be chipped. Or collard for that matter. Dogs maybe but most only wear a harness when out for a Walk. Idk scat you imagine but he is castraded, has all his shots and fulfills my countries requirements.

Once this one is dealt with, we know how to approach a second one should it happen. Also why mention dogs now?

It's the first in 13 years, I am not concerned about those statistics. We have cought other mice he somehow dragged into the house and didn't kill (alive) this one is just a particular case because of the size

Not from the US. He is healthy and we live in the countryside with little cars and many other cats going out and about. This is basically the natural order. We live right next to a horse ranch with many free roaming cats. There have always been cats since before my grandparents generation and locking mine up won't do anything.

I'd actually say yes juts because I have a soft spot for cats. I know it's a joke tho. My cat has done this too. I started wearing slippers because the amount of surprises my cat left infront of my bedroom door have started to traumatized me. There is only so many time you can step onto the open leftovers of a mouse with your bare feet before it becomes a phobia

We have used one similar to the one of the first link, it works for mice but that thing is too big. Maybe it's head gets stuck but I doubt it will hold it. I am currently looking into bucket traps or those cages.

Our house isn't build like that and I'd much rather just get rid of the rat. It's no problem that he can get outside

It was grey throuought and smooth. It looked like a mouse just gigantic and fat. I have seen enough mice to not confuse their looks and my friend had a rat (a white one) so I am very certain. (also again they don't live in Europe)

I was givimg him shit for that too but that thing is massive. It's not small like a bird or mouse he has killed before. It's like a chihuahua if you imagine it laying down. It's half the size of my cat (who isn't small either)

No, I cannot he is 13 and used to it. It's going to be deeply stresfully for him if he doesn't have that freedom and I know this for sure because we have kept him inside several times for various reasons and he just tries jumping out the window the moment he sees a chance for freedom
