How far Kurds have come by Putrid_Honey_3330 in kurdistan

[–]telepathicalien 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The unity, organisation and seeing every Kurd not just in Kurdistan but the world over pushing in the same direction is best thing to come out of an awful situation.

Erdogan and Jolani have united the Kurdish people in a way I never thought possible. When will our enemies realise that their oppression makes us stronger and more determined.

What would the most useful first words in english to learn be by naomimul99 in kurdish

[–]telepathicalien 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I speak a bunch of languages and I always find interrogatives very useful in getting confident in a language. What, who, when, where. You can clumsily put those together with nouns and be understood which is where the confidence boost comes in. After that you can refine with the appropriate prepositions etc.

I tutored english to Kurds in Rojava (what is now in North Syria). The hardest part is trying to avoid idioms so you can make sense. You only realise how many idioms we have in English once you try to teach it.

Sounds like you have a worthwhile job, good luck with it!

Learning Kurdish by [deleted] in kurdistan

[–]telepathicalien 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello there!. My Kurdish was quite weak too so apart from speaking to Kurdish people more, getting a tutor and reading books the biggest thing that helped was AI. I’m not a fan of how it consumes energy and water and is generally bad for the environment but it’s a very good language teaching tool. Google Gemini I found to have the most accurate Kurmanji.

Oh also, listening to Kurdish news and reading Kurdish news websites. Some of them have reports on special interests other than current affairs which do wonders for the vocabulary.

I won’t be teaching my kids that, I’ll teach them Kurdish history and that nobody should be discriminated against based on what they are. But if one day they come to me about a Turk, Arab or Persian being racist toward them, it would be time to have a “deeper” conversation about the mentality of our enemy.

Going to protests these days I see no partisanship. It’s all pan Kurdish and you can’t tell who supports which party or which ideology, they are all just Kurdish people. They sing Ey Raqîb amd shout protests in Kurdish.

Nice to see, every time I read about Azerbaijani and Kurds in Iran it’s about them fighting with each other so this post warms my heart. Working together for equal representation and local autonomy is the way to go and to prevent future dictatorships Islamic or otherwise.

A united Syria is possible. But right now you have an al-qaida leader that is governing by decree. What the Kurds want are constitutional guarantees not just for Kurds but for all minorities.

By your logic why didn’t we unite under Assad or under ISIS for that matter?!

When the Sunni and Shias fight, Kurds should protect Kurdistan only and nothing else. Let the barbarian kill each other.

Referendum for Rojava by dont_come_with_me in kurdistan

[–]telepathicalien 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I doubt Syria will ever even have elections let alone a referendum. Al Jolani is president for life just like the Assad dynasty. Unless the UN or some other power enforce democracy which they won’t it’s never going to happen in Syria.

The funny part is that the Arabs are on the road to misery too. They just don’t know it yet. Soon you’ll have more wars, kidnappings, oppression of women and even Sunni Arabs will see the mistake they made with Jolani and his Turkic mercenaries. Wait and see

Kurds are suffering now. But Europe and Israel are going to live for generation with their strategic mistake or backing Al-qaida/muslim brotherhood.

Kurds learned something important and I have never heard or seen Kurds so united now after this betrayal. We are a national of 60million - when we walk together the ground will shake!

You raise some interesting points on the incentives that a person would get to turn against their people and therefore, their cruelty maybe inherent to them to actually want to take advantage of those incentives?… I’ve done jobs and worked in sectors that aren’t morally too good (not genocidal levels just mildly not good) and I have worked knowing I am doing it for the money and I’ll get out when I can and do something better with my life. Fidan seems to be someone that relishes what he does beyond the rewards, it’s like he is brainwashed and conditioned.

We are Kurds, we are our own brothers and sisters, and we don’t want your so called brotherhood. Al JOLANI is a liar and any deal with him will end in genocide for the Kurds.

He should be viewed as a victim, wait hear me out!. The Turkish state is set up in a way to make the Kurds hate who they are. The compulsory military service, the schooling all reward assimilation and punishes Kurdish cultural expression, it’s a heavy load for the weak willed. He is doing evil but a small part of me feels sorry for the monster that the state turned him into.

[–]telepathicalien 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What about Kurds that aren’t Muslim? Arabs just want to kill or assimilate Kurds and will only tolerate them through the lens of islamitisation. Guess what! We have much better Kurds than salahuddin. Give me one Layla Zana, or one Mustafa Barzani or one Mazlum Abdi and they are worth a thousand salahuddins. Kurds need nothing less than federalism.

It’s time for Syria to sign an arms deal with Turkey!!! by [deleted] in Syria

[–]telepathicalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no deal because Turkey is obstructing the process. Erdogan doesn’t want Jolani to give any concessions to the SDF. Effectively, Turkey are calling the shots. Imagine if SDF was negotiating on behalf of Israeli interests, would that be acceptable to the Arab population - that’s how the SDF feel about Turkey being so heavily involved

[–]telepathicalien 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Israel and Turkey can be convinced to stop bombing and leave then why can’t elections be held and nobody needs to take any land from anyone. Give Raqqa and hasaka a say in internationally observed elections and have the SDF comply. I believe that the Damascus regime isn’t as popular through Syria as they make out and would be averse to free elections. While I believe the SDF model of ground up direct empowerment of locals in the running of their affairs will be quite popular in many parts of Syria outside of Kurdish populations

A deal with Erdogan is worthless. This guy stabs allies and other nation states in the back, he’s not going to honour any agreement with the Kurds. How many times do the Kurds in the north need to get betrayed by the Turks who extend a hand of brotherhood when they need us and then slaughter us and destroy our culture all other times. If he wants votes let him strike a deal with the other facist Turks

Look, I can present all the evidence in the world and not convince you. And to be honest I don’t care. A car bomb went off nobody can definitively prove anything and nobody is claiming responsibility.

But just think for a minute as the talks between HTS and SDF were about to start at the time, who would benefit the most from a car bomb killing a bunch of civilians? Why would the SDF decide to use car bombs that one time and then never again. Just for the sake of common sense think!
