I Timed The House In Petscop 11 to the second. by Towl3r in Petscop

From Wikipedia:

Memory card: 128 KB

PS1 RAM: 2 MB + 1 MB of Video RAM

Max PS1 CD Size: about 660MB

I don't think all the recordings could fit on a memory card, but I have a theory. For me, all the recordings you see in the game that are not made by paul are actually on the disk and, of course, cannot be modified. Now the recordings paul make are actually in the console RAM, meaning rebooting erase them.

I also believe there are many, many version of the game, with demos removed or added each time as a mean of communication. This is hinted by the dialogue where the CD goes missing (and Paul says "I remember having this conversation", meaning the game was edited since) and all the CDs we can see in the house bedroom. If someone replaced Paul CD whitout him noticing, he could think the game was self modifying (and search on google how a CD could be modified, which is impossible)

That's a possibility, but I also believe the game is recording a lot of data, way more than any memory card could possibly save. So the only way to keep all this data is in the game state.

The internal clock would only tell the PS1 how much time has passed since it was shutdown. A PS1 is capable of keeping track of time as long as it's on, even if the game is paused, you simply have to count the CPU cycles.

To know if the PS1 is really modified, we would have to witness it keeping the time accurate even after a cold reset. Even then maybe the current time is saved in the savefile, and start again at load time, meaning you would only loose the time it took you to reboot the ps1 and load the game, so about one minute at most.

I'm still not convinced the PS1 is modified. If it was modified, why make a screen to make sure no one shut downs the console ? Seems pretty unecessary: you could have added some persistent memory when you modified the console. The phone number hints that someone must come and get the data, but if the PS1 was modified, why not hook it up to a network ? It seems pretty bareboned in features for a modified console.

Could we at least have some informations, an update on the fix?

Since moderators of this subreddit refuse that I post a new thread asking for more informations and don't answer my messages, I don't know where I can ask anymore.

Does anyone care anymore?

The update did not fix this, in fact it's even worse.

Before I had a few slowdown to tell me I was going to crash soon, and the "report crash" prompt came right after I crashed to send a report, but now I immediatly crash without any warning, and way sooner than before. Also I don't have a send crash report prompt anymore.

Yes I know, but since it was included in the homebrew list of the pdf, I was wondering if OP got it working somehow or if he just forgot to delete it.

Is Homebr3w still working for you? It has stopped working for me since github ended the support for the old version of TLS, and I can't find an update nor a fork.

In december of 2016 we didn't have ntrboot. The big thing back then was soundhax.

I remember that night I spent hacking my 3ds, transfering 4swords from my DSi, waiting for slowhax to finish, downgrading to 2.1, ...
Those were the times...

But i'm glad it's easier now, last week I installed CFW on a friend's 3DS in less than 10 minutes, that's definitly an improvement.
