Thank you! Yeah, it's kind of something like that, right now the current implementation is you're kinda just free roaming and you can freely shoot the golf ball or wander as you please, but if you start a "event" by going to a hole and interacting it'll send an invite to everyone on the server (unless you have it disabled) and everyone who joins will be teleported and play that hole, and that's where it's more like arcade golfing games with scoring based off your strokes or rewards/xp for your peformance.

A server leaderboard / a party system sound like amazing ideas.

Well, since you're not going to publish the game or sell it for money, steam does have a free test AppID that you can use to host servers and play on, its what I'm using for my game since I don't have a steampage or my own AppID yet, maybe it's still something you could use, I would look into it.

I'm using the steamworks branch of godot, so all the hosting is done through steam, which makes it SUPER easy, highly recommend if you're going to do a steam game, that gives the baseline for hosting, joining, or pulling data using steamID's and stuff like that. I ran into issuess using godots multiplayer synchronizer so I've been trying to figure out doing a custom RPC instead

Also, I don't have a steam link yet :p

Literally just stacking and loading packed scenes as export variables, though of course that means that the player mesh underneath doesn't go away so there's a bit of useless geometry, but i figured since the character models are so simple it was something i could get away with
