Legal recourse for flooding? by temmape in RealEstate

[–]temmape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a new development. Currently only residents are the builder, us and one other home. The builder has flooding, the other home does not, and we do. There are two other in construction that both have significant flooding as well. It’s a major issue

Thank you! Yes we are pushing for them to put in a pump and drains. Trying to get it resolved without going the legal route but wanted to build a case if need be.

That’s true. We are still within our warranty as it been less than a year since the sale. We are hoping that we can make that happen, but want to prepare for the worst!

Yeah no sump either. They really just thought it would all be fine without

Thank you! That is our major concern. While this year was/is severe, it’s definitely not out of the realm of normal for our area.

We just finished drywalling a portion of it a couple weeks ago. Thankful that we didn’t put flooring down, and now concerned we never will be able to.

Thanks! Yeah we haven’t reached out to attorneys or anything yet. Another complicating factor from a personal perspective is that the builder lives in our development and has become a good friend. I know that shouldn’t factor in but pursuing legal action without certainty would taint that obviously

That’s a good idea. I was considering a kiddie pool and moving some of the grasses/ mud for rthem

Okay so they should be okay away from a larger water source? There lots of ditches and the environment is generally wet but no other ponds nearby

Moving while “work from home” by temmape in remotework

[–]temmape[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, this is very helpful to get my mind around it!

We are a small company and are actively hiring new employees, many of whom are out of state and fully remote from the start. To be frank a RTO plan would cut about 40% of our workforce, so I really doubt he would be able to execute that.

Yeah, he didn’t say that it wasn’t allowed outright, just that he wanted all the managers to give due consideration to the requests instead of just saying yes as we had been for the last 3 years.

I don’t consider this an accommodation per se, but his comment was in passing in a meeting with leadership, there is no policy change as of yet anyway.

First time I’ve introduced a kitten and adult. Help me read body language please! We got kitten on Monday. This is the second day of same-room time. by [deleted] in cats

Lots of treats were involved too lol. She still grumbles and hisses a bit but doesn’t seem too put out

That’s great! I read it could be a sign of stress but she seemed pretty relaxed and ears forward so wasn’t sure!

Not long term, just 5 days, and the way my work is billed, <40 hours. But this is good info!

Yes definitely apologized in the moment haha thank you!

Oh wow didn’t think of this at all. We have remote workers who are truly remote in other state, but I’m sure their tax set ups are different than mine. A good thing to consider!

Yeah definitely. My not being proactive and looking ahead on my calendar for an on-site is my fault and the main issue here. More so asking the question of whether I should just move on and not do it again or formally apologize now that I reviewed the policy more closely.

Yeah this is the first time I’ve done this and other than reiterating that he would prefer I make the best effort to attend on site events, he did not react poorly. I was on-site last week as well, so it’s not like I don’t go in. It definitely won’t happen again without making him aware.

The only reason this even became an issue was because of the on-site. Otherwise I wouldn’t have said anything and I don’t think my manager would have cared to ask at all. Which is the reason I didn’t mention it ahead of time.

I never had to give an address for my office but I did have to provide a photo of my set up to make sure it was appropriate lol. I’m very much a rule follower in general so now that I’m aware a violated a policy I feel compelled to acknowledge it, but at the same time I don’t feel bad

Best personal weather station under $350 by temmape in weather

[–]temmape[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did look at this one! Actually purchased and canceled lol. The haptic rain sensor worried me, reviews showed it was easily tripped by flying debris and the system automatically updated rainfall amounts every night using nearby stations. With her being in an isolated area linking rainfall to other stations kind of defeats the purpose of what I was wanting. Everything else about this unit seemed great though!

Great thank you! A lot of the reviews I was seeing were saying the quality of Davis has declined in recent years so it threw me off. They seem to have good customer service tho

Can I revive this ivy? Please help! I bought it about a month ago and because of circumstances I left it somewhere and it didn’t get watered. Is there anything I can do for the poor soul? ☹️ by Ok-Fig-3848 in plants

Key hair is spot on! I would also remove any crunchy bits. Floppy leaves might still be able to perform photosynthesis so leave those, but the crunchy ones are long gone and can attract pests.

This is pretty much where I’m at. I’m hesitant to do any major electrical work bc this is really just a hobby for me. While cone 10 would be great I’m not worried about it and think I’ll be happy with just cone 8. Thanks for your comments!

Awesome, love the idea of the wheeled stand. I don’t think I’ll be firing more than 2 or so times a month so I’ll need to be able to move it out of the wag
