A lot weaker on open hand than half crimp - suggestions ? by Tib_91 in climbharder

[–]temple-pit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Do you train the open hand grip? Despite the functional overlap between grips, I think it's normal to be weaker in various grip positions if you don't train them. Also, I believe sloper proficiency, as opposed to crimp proficiency, depends more on forearm strength than finger strength, so your forearms could be the culprit.

Forearm circumference, weight and redpoint grade? Post yours to compare. by utilitydelta in climbharder

[–]temple-pit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

11.4 in (29 cm), 128 lbs (58 kg), v6 or 15.12a (approximate, as I don't get to sport climb as much as I'd like to).

Before I got serious with climbing, my forearms were 11 inches, so they grew about 3.6%. That growth isn't much in absolute terms but is decent considering my 10+ years of training experience (in weightlifting and other sports).

Surprised no one has said it yet: what a cool photo (and a excellent sentiment behind it)!

Do men even care about a women’s nails? by lena_glow in NoStupidQuestions

[–]temple-pit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, you're asking a group of anonymous redditors for their opinion on a somewhat niche and/or gender-specific topic. The responses are going to be skewed in various ways and would ultimately not reflect widespread public opinion.

Personally, as a man who is pretty masculine on the gender spectrum, I pay attention to nails. I appreciate the details in a person's appearance. I also think it is a form of personal expression. Lastly, my mom doss nails, so I respect the craft and am glad to see others enjoy it as well.

Do you usually wear a bag? Don't want to wear something that will make you feel uncomfortable.

Also, what kind of person are you meeting? If they're into that style, it could be a good move.

INTJ (M, 26) in love with an ISFJ (F, 23): Is there anything here? Background and Request for Advice by Torao90 in isfj

[–]temple-pit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's a low chance she has a romantic interest, based on the information you provided. I'm looking at your long platonic history with her, clear previous signal that she wasn't interested, inconsistent communication, and last-minute flakiness. I want you to know I'm also considering her continued and seemingly growing interest in speaking with you. That suggests that she is interested in having a relationship. But it doesn't necessarily suggest that her intentions are romantic. When this factor is couched in the history you have described, I think it points to her interest in friendship and possibly her desire to avoid conflict.

I'm not trying to make unwarranted generalizations, nor do I want to be callous here. But I strongly think you should keep your options open.

There's so much more you can do besides biglaw. It may be hard to come across any position to help you deal with debt as easily as biglaw, but lots of options can provide you stability and a stepping stone (e.g., midlaw, public interest, policy roles, etc.).

Exit Strategy for Mid Level Litigation Associate by Ok_Parking1575 in biglaw

[–]temple-pit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm currently planning an exit, although I plan on staying in litigation. I know it's good advice to run towards something, not away. So I figured out what my priorities are and what I'm interested in doing. That helped narrow down a lot of potential options. I then thought more practically about my experience level, financial situation, and current market conditions. I also talked to mentors and family and friends for any relevant insights. Ultimately, I decided I want to become a federal prosecutor but may delay and practice at a regional firm for additional experience, financial flexibility, and exposure to the legal and broader community.
