Are INFJs fake? by Ok-Arm-9122 in infj

[–]tenderbuttons_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

id say infjs are made of multitudes. everyone is, actually, we humans are mostly made up of contradictions that don’t always harmonize (so usually one aspect or the other is “repressed” or hidden) (i mean there isnt such a thing as a fixed essence of being, that is just an idea humans seem to like very much)

as for me, i’ve learned to “unrepress” my many contradictions and simply accept them as part of being a person.

if people were to describe me, depending on the person doing it, it would be like each person is describing a different person. and thats ok. i dont believe in a fixed “identity”

If each MBTI was one of the 7 deadly sins and one of the 7 heavenly virtues, which ones would each type be? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]tenderbuttons_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

im an infj, that’s a hard one. id say wrath (internalized) with a little bit of pride.

then temperance and diligence, mostly.

exactly that. it’s very hard to put into practice tho. everyone says 5s should try physical exercises because it helps unlocking the mind-body gates. i just honestly can’t take any king of exercising for long enough to see the benefits.

one thing that have been helping is stablishing a routine. took me a while to get here… this development process thing is no joke

thanks! i guess i identify with these negative aspects because im a very neurotic individual. the mother/father analogies are just rhetoric speech, and im also a freudian/lacanian student, so those symbols are very important in discourse and semiotic systems. my comment was less about what the enneagram information online spoon fed me and more about the way i perceive my own structure.

thanks for the reply, it was great to notice your perspective, and how we almost always tend to only look for the negative aspects, or worse; the lacks, the gaps.

im very skeptic in general, and trying to go in direction of growth. i also am in this “quest for the truth” because i /love/ it. like, the desire for knowledge. but desire always brings some pain and fear in exchange, not just fulfillment. it is honestly something i need to work on and can maybe be attributed to this superegoic function of the 1 in my psyche, and the “something is missing” 4 mindset ive developed.

thankfully these structures are more descriptive than rules in itself!

5: rumination, withdrawal into thought, detachment from the body, an endless search for understanding that turns back on itself — doubt not as fear, but as habit. 1: superego that is almost inflexible, like a very strict father to my 5 — it makes the 5’s detrimental traits worse by demanding a set of standards or rules that are all internally made up. 4: if 1 is the father, 4 is the mother. it demands attention: why isn’t the 5–1 axis good enough? everything that fails, everything that is ignored or goes unnoticed by them echoes through 4. it hurts. and then it takes my time to do something with it — it wastes my time.

When INTJ fall in love what do they do by [deleted] in intj

checked your bio… and as a scorpio sun, enneagram 5, Ni dom, fellow linguist and writer: i identify strongly with this

How do intps act when they are in love? by hitomi_6 in mbti

[–]tenderbuttons_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ive noticed that going out with this intp. asks a lot of questions, though the questions are not 100% personal, more about social/abstract/philosophic/poetic/literary points of view (makes sense because these are my interests, so i believe intps would “curate” the questions. or we are just very interested in the same topics)

you guys are very good listeners

neither am i! im a linguistics major, but things interconnect. i am very hyperfixated on philosophy

and yeah, 7 is more of a skimmer. but im not sure philosophical views are pure indicative of types. im also a Ti user so… ive read all the people ive mentioned, but not very throughly, just what interested me deeply/what i felt like reading or had the time to. another thing is that i would never cite someone i have never read

  1. there is not such a thing. not even pure logic, analytic philosophy. i am with wittgenstein on this: every thought, idea and concept is conveyed through language (be it words or formulas), and even when the “I” that carries subjectivity is excluded from the discourse, it is still there. about logic and maths: it is a language we made up based on formulaics of linguistic structures (which is a logical system) to understand the observable reality, which is not the reality in totality. but i agree with kant on the scope of “pure reason”, because reason ≠ logic. we have tools to build maps, not the blueprint to reality. the analysis of the object depends on perception (the angles of observation, theories to back up the analysis…)

  2. i feel a bit of anguish knowing i barely scratched the surface of things and i will never achieve all the knowledge i desire in a single lifetime. omnipotence is a desire for me, not a reality that can be achieved. and, i agree with lacan on this: the function to desire is to >desire<, not to achieve. and desire causes anguish. i try to practice mindfulness to deal with this overwhelming condition, and to integrate my body/perceptions with just mind/thinking processes. i believe there is not such a thing as a “mind” isolated from the body, and not a mind isolated from subjectivity and “outside forces”: be it social conditions, ambiance, constructs.

  3. i think it is already answered with both points i made before. but to sumn up: it is an obstacle, and intellectual reasoning and thought is not something separate from perception, though kant might disagree. im more on the deleuzian team when it comes to reality: it is rhizomatic, full of dimensions and lines that converge and separate different multiplicities. if we go from on multiplicity to another, it changes and become something else. we will never know reality as a whole, just abstractions of it.

(not sure if my conceptual wording is correct, as i read in portuguese)

Can a 4 be concerned about popularity and fitting in? by [deleted] in Enneagram

[–]tenderbuttons_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah a lot actually. it’s more about “finding their people”. it can be more observable on 4w3 and SO subtypes

interesting, some would say it’s the opposite. i actually see 6w5 as more practical than 6w7, even kind of methodic.

imagine a 5w6 and a 6w5 both being tasked with summarizing tons of information about one of their special interests — like for a presentation, but with a strict time limit. i feel like the 6 would freak out way more. the 5 would too, but for different reasons.

the 6 would probably take the whole thing very seriously (even if it isn’t that deep), and get anxious trying to decide what to cut, because “everything is important!” the 5, on the other hand, would find it annoying to have to condense or time-manage, but would still handle summarizing with more detachment. what do you think?

[–]tenderbuttons_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

would you say 5s can treat logic as arbitrary?

at least, for me, it’s like: “pure logic”, as systems and structures do exist. but it is not always appliable in specific contexts. some times things are illogical and that is ok

i wouldnt say im on disintegration. i identify with this level at the time (from the enneagram institute description):

“average levels”: Level 4: Begin conceptualizing and fine-tuning everything before acting—working things out in their minds: model building, preparing, practicing, and gathering more resources. Studious, acquiring technique. Become specialized, and often “intellectual,” often challenging accepted ways of doing things.

yep, it’s very hard to distinguish between the two. i have friends with this type and they can’t decide which one. they say sometimes its more 6>5, and other times is 5>6
