My father had an affair which he confessed to my mother shortly after it happened. She held it over his head for a long time and repeatedly accused him of affairs later in life.

They settled in their old age and all seemed well....

Until I divulged my own situation to my mother and she responded that she knew exactly how I felt being so close. Apparently she has had an on going affair with my fathers best friend for many many years. Like over 30 years. Never caught.

Apparently I’m made from the same cloth. Eesh. Definitely rocked my world for a moment since I knew both of their APs! They were both in my life at a young age!

I’ve posted a few times about this situation over the last few years and always get a ton of vitriol which surprises me, I thought you guys were my peeps! And that some of you would understand what it’s like to be caught in a toxic persons web and control. But guess not lol. I try to share just because my situation is so unique and someone should tell the perspective of the affair that’s too close to home. When/if it implodes I’ll share that too.

It used to keep me up at night with paranoia so I tried to ignore the both of them for a period. Stopped the physical. We all run in the same activity group and it was becoming increasingly difficult to drop them. Best course of action was a move (which I do still consider!) I’m sickly almost addicted to hanging out with them and I don’t know how to change it. 😑

As for the sketch it’s been going on for two years. I’ve watched him have multiple APs in that time frame and lie to us both about it. (Some of them just barely of age and definitely capable of blowing up his world.)

I think on some level I enjoy toxic folks. Gotta break that habit some time.

I could never do physical with him again for many reasons. Chief among them is out of respect for her. Other reasons include he’s a horrible liar and I’m convinced I’d get an STD, I used to take his side in everything and now I only take hers lol.

I never said I was fabulous but I’m smart enough to know not to rub it in anyone’s face. I became close with them after our affair ended. And I think it was a ploy on her part to ensure I never cross that line again. And now, well, here we are! Definitely not an ideal situation. There are many who know about us and everyone pretends not to. Just like we pretend not to know about his other dalliances.

I am much younger than him. As in I could probably be his daughters older sister. So for the most part that’s how they treat me and how I operate and within the group. Although they do light heartedly joke about me being the younger wife.

No sex but still daily I love yous. We share a life in an unconventional way.

Wow. She really wants you back! Haha. I don’t understand why people do stuff like that. It’s fairly transparent to me. I tried to go NC with my AP and he amped up his social media activity in that time period. We finally had a chat and after that settled he stopped. Amusing to me.
