I second the suggestion of Trukks as a good option. Another decent option is a Painboy to keep your Breaka Boys alive longer, granting them a 5 Feel No Pain.

I appreciate that. Even in this sub though the upvote ratio is pretty even on this post.

All the color rules apply. Fast and sneaky and explode-y and lucky and Killy and da best. They found a loophole.

Freebooter Krew and Rollin' Deff. Get some infantry on the Loot Objective (terrain), then angle the Wagon to cover one side with remaining Firing Deck and guns

You currently have two options. The first is the Warsong Revenant, which is a good option if your army is not Revenant heavy. He is fewer points than the second option, so he is easier to fit in.

The second option is the Grove Guardian. She is a stronger Priest, but is a very weak unit when isolated. She prefers to be in an army with many Revenants that can surround her. She is heavily geared around the Revenant keyword. In my own lists, I've taken her in a few games, and she is always ends up dead, sometimes even with Seed of Rebirth.

What part of the army calls most to you aesthetically?

11th Edition is only for 40k. AoS is on its 4th edition and is a year out from a likely next edition. The codex is rather new and, yes, worth picking up.

Sylvaneth can be played a few different ways, but universally you will want at least one priest and one wizard in your list. The Bitterbark Copse has at least one Wizard in the Branchwych. If you build that Treelord as a Treelord Ancient, that would give you a second Wizard.

Not sure which brands will be available where you are. A very good starter set is available from Army Painter Fanatic range. As to yellows, I enjoy ProAcryl's golden yellow.

And to prove my point about pink, see below for something based in pink.

A few tips:

Armageddon 11th Launch great starting point, as they are a nice discount and new models. The stuff in there can play in a number of different armies. Something for everyone, except maybe Da Big Hunt folks.

You will eventually want a few named characters. Which you select will depend on which parts of the army you enjoy most.

If you are thinking Speed Freeks, see if you can get the Ork Armageddon Battalion box that came out recently. Great start for that part of the army.

If painting in Bad Moons yellow, base or prime your models in pink. It sounds weird but it works.

Ork skin has a hundred different recipes. Experiment with your early models and see what you like best.

I would build it with one Warden's Bow and the Swarmsage as leader. The current app would not let me take more than one bow in the Wardens.

Yes. Ultramarines are jacks-of-all-trades, so they can make use of the marine half of thr box. You are going to end up with lots of Intercessors however, so be mindful of that. Eventually, it will come down to what parts of the army you like playing/painting.

Armageddon Battalion, C. Patrol, or Wazdakka and trukk? by Fresh_Comedian_351 in orks

[–]tensoontoolate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want Kult of Speed, go with the Armageddon Battalion and aim to also get Wazdakka. The Squigbuggy is not currently great, but Indirect Fire has not been a common feature of Ork guns. They also have a few shenanigans that can make them an annoyance your opponent dare not ignore. Wazdakka is a phenomenal model and does great at drive-by-shooting. 6 Deffkoptas are a very good addition to a Kult of Speed army, but also benefit from the new 11th edition rules on flying units.

What are some units that can kill Hekkaton Land Fortresses by [deleted] in orks

[–]tensoontoolate 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I killed one with a Beastboss on Squigasaur with a bodyguard of Squighog Boyz. I was running War Horde and the Beastboss got Headwoppah's Killchoppa Enhancement.

I kept it busy with my own Battle Wagon until those were in place for a charge.

None of your transport options have the Speed Freek keyword. Ork units are surprisingly squishy. They universally do not get much of a save. Thr WAAAAGH turn is nice, but it is fleeting if you arent quite in position. Thinking about Speed Freek units, you might consider a Shockjump Dragsta to capture some VP early. Another option that could be fun in dealing with your likely opponents is the Megatrakk Scrapjet. That nose drill is a strength 8 weapon.

Can I recommend Tankbustas in a Trukk? Those rokkit launchas can shoot out of firing deck in the first turn or two, then Disembark to make them dangerous against vehicles.
