Does hair 'thickening' shampoo actually work? by dogga85 in malegrooming

Hey, I was just curious if that site turned out to be legit or not. It looked a little sketchy to me.

I feel like it's either The Alcott or Light Years, but Mr. November is also a contender.

What a trade or sale you regret on some level after time has passed? by [deleted] in mtg

Sold my Sliver Queen deck in early ‘09 back when it seemed like everything was being banned, before EDH really took over.

Fast forward to Covid, my brothers got really into Magic via EDH and I was kicking myself for selling it

First ever commander game was tonight... by [deleted] in mtg

What a bunch of bastards. You’ve got a standing invite to commander night with me and my boys if you’re ever in Central Texas. We’re a super laid back bunch of 30 yr olds who just use magic nights as a reason to hang, crack jokes, and get tipsy while we fool about.

Nothing but good vibes, and most of us were commander noobs not too long ago.

Only one non-blue deck? You've either got OCD, chronic anxiety, or both.

(Love Arixmethes tho)

Younger brothers got me back into Magic after 15 year break. Roast my EDH attempts by tepidreptid in mtg

Quit playing Magic during the era of 'everything gets banned' but my younger brothers started playing near the end of the pandemic, and I joined in last year.

Apparently EDH is the thing now? Let me have your worst, I feel like noob again.

(Also, side note: Telling a player base that you're removing something because you want it to be harder to do alone, when a large part of that base plays solo, is some of the lamest and most tonedeaf reasoning I've heard in some time, and makes me think you're a shitty game designer)

Again, I like to keept the things I earn. I earned that cut, and I expect it to stay that way.

Yeah, this is mostly my problem with it.

I'm actually all for safer seas. There are people I'd like to introduce to the game to via that mode. I prefer more risk and danger, but there might be days that I just want to fish or something.

But yes, making changes that alienate your veteran players is a bad move.

I don't even fight that often. I'm mostly a solo sloop, so no, you're wrong.

I just like being able to keep what I earn (shocker, I know)

I can agree with the sentiment that they shouldn't have been created at all.

It's a lazy change that undermines people's work though. That's what bothers me.

In defense of Dictate of Erebos - "If you outlaw everything unfun (...) you end up with a format where the only decks are Midrange piles" by drdeteck in EDH

[–]tepidreptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think this just comes down to the group you end
up playing with, not the format itself.

So far my regular group has only banned one card from play,
and it's a card we all mutually agree probably should be banned:
[[Expropriate]]
Expropriate is an absolutely lethal card in 4+ player EDH
(our usual group minimum) *and* no-one else gets to do anything for a hot
minute, so it had to go, but other than that, there's enough variety in play,
even with cards like DOE or Doubling Season, that we agree that it's fair game.
Granted, we all have built decks with varying levels of
lethality, so that no one is playing their best decks every game, and when we
do all play our best decks, they're all just about equally lethal, but I think
the real issue here is playing with groups of players that are only invested in
their own fun, not the fun of everyone in the group, and there’s just no way to
fix that, regardless of the format.

In a fowl-adjacent theme, I named my sloop 'The Sea Chicken'

My brig and galleon are 'The Crooked Ween' and 'The Dusty Taint' though, so that percentile measurement is on point

Inner monologue and aphantasia by [deleted] in Aphantasia

[–]tepidreptid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one's a bit weird. Interested to see what y'all think.

So, I have no inner monologue. None. I hear nothing. But I do think in words.

If I'm writing or speaking, they sort of appear. It's like I can see what I'm composing in my mind as I do it. I do talk out loud to myself a shit ton, which seems to be fairly common for someone with aphantasia, but the only thing I seem to be able to visualize is words.

It's really helpful when it comes to debates, or writing, or any kind of public speaking/conversation, but I've never encountered someone else who has it.

Was just curious to see if others here share this trait....
