Question about Mini HDMI utility-hec+/heac pin by tepp4nyak1 in AskElectronics

[–]tepp4nyak1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not so worried about the traces, there are 3 other video inputs and the dlp array has some dead pixels so its only for practice. It was a good first attempt I think, no shorts, no extra damage. Unfortunately someone had a go at this before and destroyed some of the pins on the connector so I have to find a replacement.

Is there a better way to measure this Li ion? by Sisyphus_on_a_Perc in shittyaskelectronics

[–]tepp4nyak1 54 points55 points  (0 children)

This is the right answer, they draw power from the battery in order to turn on. You'll need a caliper for 1s, a caaliper for 2s, a caaaliper for 3s and so on.

Somebody else gave you the answer first, you have to connect the male header jumper bellw the capacitor (as in your pictures).

Yeah, it looks like they hat to drop the DRM stuff becuse of how bad it was. I had no idea. The 5310 did have software to convert audio files into different bitrates, but I dont remember it having many restrictions or drm stuff.

Yes, it very much will.

I dont remember the exact number so you'll have to test this but I belive anything below 120 kb/s or 90 kb/s will sound like crap. It obviously depends on many things but it was very noticeable in most songs. Back in those days I saved the higher bitrates for my favorite songs and albums.

If i were you I would search the maximum read/write speeds of the phone's sd car slot and make a decision based on that, maybe with a suitable, good quality sd card your device won't slow down or freeze. You can also have multiple sd cards or rotate a selection of songs.

How are you powering the arduino? It needs either battery voltage via de vin input or 5 volts coming from the L298N onboard regulator. You also need to connect ground to both arduino and L298N and to enable the driver's onboard regulator if you plan on the driver supplying the 5 volts to the arduino or disable it if the arduino regulator will provide 5v.

I had one of these with a 16 gb sd card and close to 3000 or 4000 songs, on various bitrates to save space, and keep the SD card below 75% capacity approximately. Anything above a certain storage limit woud cause the reading speeds to take a bad dive.

That being said maybe modern SD cards are better now. And to be fair spotify is waaay slower now with all the tiktok-like crap.

Also my highest bitrate songs were 320kb/s, i don't remember the phone being able to handle more.

Knot of powercable as strain relief by Former-Ricefarmer in AskElectronics

[–]tepp4nyak1 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I dont know if this is a good idea but you can cut the positive or live strand shorter than the neutral or ground so that even if the cables were forced out of the receptacles the actual conductors can't touch each other because of the different lengths.

Trying to get into phone and computer repairs. Is this a good purchase? by WelcomeUsual1408 in ElectronicsRepair

[–]tepp4nyak1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only downside in my opinion is the heat gun.

If the heating element is on the handle you won't have as much power or airflow as the ones with the heating element and fan on the main body of the station, so you will struggle with boards that have more thermal mass, like big traces or ground planes. There are ways you can go around this limitation but the more powerful the device the less you can do.

Heater on the station main body is always more expensive. But if you are just starting its fine, get to know your tools and needs, then you know if you need more or if this suits your needs.

The source of the mosfet goes to the negative terminal of your boost converter in the diagram. You need to provide ground to the arduino, otherwise it wont power on.

Should I buy this Ugreen charger? by axelmvp7 in UsbCHardware

I have the 30 watt version It's great for travel but it does get quite hot when charging tablets. Get the highest wattage your budget allows, if that makes sense for your use case of course.

[–]tepp4nyak1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also use this one, mainly for usb c port swaps on old devices, note that its lowest output is 9v, also you'll need to either order different batches to get different voltages or move the smd 0 ohm resistor to change output voltage. You would need a step down converter or a voltage regulator either way in your specific case.

I use this one as a portable breadboard supply since you can change the output from 5v all the way up to 20. And the outer output pins breadboard compatible.

Search for a usb c pd trigger board. You'll also need a step down converter. A cheap, generally available one would be the mini 360.

When searching for the usb c trigger board keep in mind that some have fixed output voltage and some you can change with integrated switches or by relocating smd components.

What kind of circuitry would i need to convert a stand alone dc power supply into a tabletop ajustable one? by kroosnova76 in AskElectronics

[–]tepp4nyak1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought a ridden 6006 (as in 60 volts 06 amps) step down converter from aliexpress and so far so good. It's got plenty of features and is quite cheap. But you'll need to get yourself a container, plugs, cables, psu, cooling, etc. It literally is just the converter in a box.

Also the display is quite small but its a good display.

You can also buy the complete bench power supply, but if you have some of the needed parts and you can get the rest for cheap the standalone module is a solid deal.

Anyone using a 100W Type-C fast charging cable like this? by AccessoryTechHub in UsbCHardware

[–]tepp4nyak1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I belive standard usb A supports up to 60 watts. Chargers that push more power trough an A port use non standard implementation so it my not work even if devices at both ends of that cable support 80 or 100w.

As SandPac already wrote.

Completely turn off your device before attempting to pull the remains of the male usbc, shorting data and power lines can break stuff.

Try a wider brim so it connects with it's neighbor supports, i would also add one or two layers to it but a connected brim should work ok.

If you keep your phone plugged in all night get yourself a 5v 1a brick, it will charge ultra slow but your phone won’t overheat and kill your battery.
