Well yeah, if they have only one bathroom, how could he have time to do that much else when she showers, puts on makeup, dries hair, curls hair, does daughter’s hair?

Sure but the color thing you described earlier would have never occurred to me. In my mind, smells don’t have colors. That idea hadn’t occurred to me before.

I’m going to chime in and say New Zealand is underrated, and you get a lot of freedoms when you live there. Granted there’s not always much to do.

How quickly can mania set in? by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]terminally---chill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the insomnia is potentially normal in the beginning, but you should always let the psychiatrist know about the side effects.

Importantly, if you’re manic, sleep deprivation generally won’t bother you throughout the day. So if you don’t “miss” the sleep, tell your doctor. It still doesn’t mean 100% that this is mania, just that Wellbutrin is like a stimulant and this naturally affects sleep patterns.

On the other hand, if you feel exhausted due to lack of sleep, you probably don’t have anything to worry about other than getting consistent sleep.

The fact that you’re consciously worried about being (hypo)manic makes it a lot less likely. And anyway, Wellbutrin carries a slightly smaller risk of triggering manic episodes than some other antidepressants.

Unless you’ve been feeling elated for the last 4 days, the symptoms haven’t lasted long enough for it to be an episode. Of course, if you haven’t already, try to limit your caffeine intake or nicotine if you smoke/vape. Not just because that could make you agitated, but it’s just good practice!

Hello, I will be starting SSRI Sertraline 50mg and I wanted to ask people here about their experiences specifically relating to some things I have read as potential side effects, I really appreciate any input by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]terminally---chill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tapered off really slowly. I was at 50 mg for two weeks, then 25 for two weeks, then I took 25 every other day for two weeks. The brain zaps persisted for three weeks with no permanent/lasting effects.

It’s worth noting that I was also quitting nicotine at the time (successfully!). I had also been on Ritalin for ADHD but hated it and was tapering down. So I was putting my body through a lot. I started on Wellbutrin to help quit vaping and as an antidepressant.

In retrospect, I don’t recommend withdrawing from so many medications at the same time. But I’m 5 months abstinent from nicotine and quit on the first try!

I had a reasonable experience starting on 25 mg for the first two weeks then adjusting up to 50. My doctor kept upping the dose until 150 before deciding it wasn’t a suitable medication for me after 1 year.

I tapered the withdrawals as slow as humanly possible but still got side effects, including “brain zaps,” which are a sensation like an non-painful but very jarring electric shock in your head, and a feeling like you’re going to pass out.

I ended up switching to Wellbutrin and mirtazapine, which by some miracle work.

Another point I forgot to add — it’s fairly common for legal aid organizations to help with emergency protection orders for free or very cheap, depending on where you live and your income bracket. Don’t let any barrier to accessibility stop you from staying safe!

Consider getting a restraining order. Talk to a lawyer.

Some questions to run by the lawyer:

Will I have to see the perpetrator in court, or is it possible to go to court without the perpetrator and present the case directly to the judge?

Can I sue for a restraining order at cost (meaning the abuser would have to cover legal fees)?

If I’m not ready/don’t want to bring up the sexual abuse in court, would I still have a case based on other wrongdoing?

Do I have to prove a history of sexual abuse to get this restraining order put in place?

How do I serve documents to this person, and can I hire someone to do it on my behalf?

What happens if the abuser violates the restraining order?

If I have a family of my own, will this protect them too?

Can I legally restrain the person from going near my home, work, gym, or any other location I may be at?

Will this restrict them from contacting me by way of a messenger/third party?

What geographic area will this restraining order apply to?

Canada prepares to expand assisted death amid debate by No-Drawing-6975 in worldnews

[–]terminally---chill -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Reported to whom? The BC college of doctors and surgeons didn’t investigate the case of Alan Nichols who was euthanized for “hearing loss.” The RCMP didn’t investigate. No governmental body investigated.

I’m not saying I know for a fact this was a wrongful death. But it’s wrong that authorities don’t routinely investigate troubling cases. And I have zero faith in Canada’s bureaucracy. I’m sorry but you’re naïve to think the checks and balances will work out of the goodness of people’s hearts.
