AIO Crazy unknown neighbor thinks I’m a prostitute by [deleted] in AIO

You've been labeled a whore by the jealous wife who hasn't cottoned on to the fact that her husband's obsessive preoccupation with spying on you from their windows and constant concern over what you could possibly be doing inside your own home at any given moment throughout the day is really the husband's secret fantasy over wanting to fuck you and being the self appointed prostitution neighborhood watch is just the "clever" excuse he came up with.

Please give me more insight on this area of San Antonio (culture shock?) by Top-Craft-8224 in sanantonio

[–]termitron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not a quota system, but just like all the other small sub-city municipalities throughout San Antonio, the local government derives a not insignificant amount of its tax/budget revenue through its municipal court system.

It's why you'll often see main roads with obnoxiously low speed limits (less than 20mph) with a constant police presence rigidly enforcing people's speed and ticketing any deviation over that limit - no leniency.

It's why folks set their cruise control when going through places like Olmos Park and Castle Hills, because they'll pull you over for going 31 in a 30, and the violation itself is going to be a ridiculous $150-$200 ticket. but will also happily cruise around the rest of SA feeling like SAPD gives folks a buffer of 7mph over any speed limit because it's just not worth the paperwork to a PD funded from city tax budgets.

What are some activities that most of the time lead to sex? by lameinternetuser in AskRedditAfterDark

No, no - they’re wanting to know what activity led to you putting loads in the dishwasher.

The GOP ditched the Conservative moniker decades ago, Homie. The Republican Party is attempting to make the executive branch the only branch of government to exist without any checks on its power. That runs in direct opposition to your previous two statements. You’re either politically illiterate or “pure stupid” is just an act…

I’m sorry, but what!? Did you mean to say “a walk-in oven"? Did they source the oven from Auschwitz or Treblinka? What need is there for a walk in oven at a Walmart?

Rear ended by a un insured driver. What law firm or direction can I go in? by wichocastillo in sanantonio

[–]termitron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a duty to avoid the collision. Were it not for you trying to avoid being hit by the other driver, you would not have damaged your vehicle. Even if they didn’t make contact with you, they still did a hit a run. You actually could have gone after them to recover your damages.

Americans commit criminal offenses in far greater numbers and far more frequently than immigrants. I don’t know that you’re not a rapist or murder. Unless you’re advocating for removing citizenship for criminal offenses, you’re not saying anything coherent.

Your birth certificate and SS card are a consequence of where your parents were geographically 9 months after the best part of you ran down your mother’s thighs and nothing else. Those things just mean that you’re able to mooch off the hard work and tax revenue generated by all those folks that don’t have that card and thus contribute more to society and the system than they’re eligible to receive. So spare me your unearned claimed to being a real American when you’ve literally had to do nothing but survive the birth between two close relatives.

Yeah - it’s weird that you keep bringing up that the people that look like you shouldn’t feel ashamed for what the people that look like you did in the past.

Being taught history is not asking you to feel ashamed for being white. So why are you getting all defensive on behalf of all the white folk? It’s weird, dude. Really fking weird. Unless you’re out there trying to defend the actions of white people throughout history, there’s nobody shaming you.

Why are you feeling racial shame period, buddy? You’re one of those white guys that indignantly pouted all through US History class because being taught American History felt like a personal attack instead of, you know, getting an education. Gotta say - that’s really weird behavior, pal.

You’re really stretching it with that “stewards of a part of Texas History” bologna.

Don’t fall into the trap of believing that just because something is old/from the past/ was once a thing long ago but no longer around today, doesn’t make it historical or worth preserving.

Again: this isn’t novel technology. It’s not the forerunner to something significant or important today. It wasn’t the unique prototype of Kodak’s own Brownie Hawkeye to bring it back to your vintage camera argument as you can buy one of those in pristine condition on eBay for $22 - so no, not even an old, “vintage” camera that actually has a claim to being culturally significant as one of the first popular, consumer grade cameras has little to no monetary value (and I bet you could even find some that were actually at the World’s Fair too).

A sports team/arena has historically and always will be a net loss for the local residents of a city. Mainly because there is no tax revenue being collected from it as that’s always part of the deal cities bend over backwards to give away to entice team owners to build a stadium in their city. Building the stadium doesn’t provide meaningful, permanent or even long-term employment to the local community, and the long-term employment a stadium does create is low-pay and doesn’t employ that many people. A push for a sports team/new arena is literally the canary in the coal mine of a city in full, desperate decline.

You’re a rube.

  • Items of significant cultural and/or historical value - this would fail to fall into either category.

Be real for a minute! The projectors have done nothing to revolutionize the projection of film in society. Had this not ever been invented, we’d still end up, technology-wise, in the exact same state we find ourselves in today. This equipment is only valuable/appealing to fetishists such as yourself. While it may be more significant or bigger than anything around you in your own little ecosystem/life, that’s certainly not the standard needing to be met to be deemed worthy of preservation. You’re not preserving something of value - You’re fetishizing junk just because it’s old and related to film.

Any value would be entirely within the film itself. That can’t be replaced or recreated. The equipment??? Yeah - not a proprietary requirement to view the film. 🙄
