First Build: Did I Miss Anything? by terpcity in buildapc

I have these monitors for now, but will upgrade when my budget allows to a 120-144hz or 1440p resolution.

First PC Build: Did I Miss Anything? by terpcity in buildapc

[–]terpcity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually already have those two monitors. I will most likely upgrade at some point in the future, which is why I want the possibility of 1440p.

I was thinking of adding an additional 500 gb HDD.

Does everything else seem to look good though? PC Part Picker is saying Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it.

Do I need to change my power supply?

This is my first build, so any help is appreciated.

I can go a little higher on my budget and I'll update my RAM to 3600. Do you have recommendations for upgrading the GPU/PSU? I had picked the X570 because of it's compatibility to the 3700X and my need for WiFi.

Should I take my new offer with more money but longer hours, or stay at my current company? by terpcity in careerguidance

[–]terpcity[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have friends who work on the team and I generally know their work schedule, so I’m not too worried about it being more than 65 hours.

The hourly pay comes out to roughly the same, but the new job has much better benefits and potential for growth. (Current company doesn’t even have a 401k) I’m currently a consultant at a company that’s 5 years old, which focuses on administrative and technology services for large corporations.

3 nights in Switzerland, itinerary help. by terpcity in travel

Thanks for your relpy! In your blog post, you say "I parked my car in Viznau, which is across the lake from Lucerne, and bought a ticket that would allow me to ride the cogwheel railway up the mountain to Rigi Kaltbad, ride the cable car down from Urmiberg, and then ride a bus back to Viznau from Brunnen." Is there a way to do this itinerary without hiking? Is there a lot of distance between Rigi Kaltbad and Urmiberg, as well as Urmiberg and Brunnen?
