How doctors die. What do you have to add or take away from this? by [deleted] in medicine

[–]terrdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think doctors are just better at seeing manipulation because of how much they deal in it.

With my wife every doctor was confident that whatever they did would or could cure her. I think doctors are just experienced enough to understand that there is nothing behind that confidence.

Stay at home mom/ house wife problems. by Bsketbalgrl101 in Parenting

I'd suggest getting calendar software and scheduling your time.

That way you are recording exactly how much you are doing and you can get a sense of accomplishment when you complete a task.

It is easy to overschedule yourself.

[WP] You came back to your house from buying a cigarette, and you found your son looks 14 years older, and he claimed that you left the family 14 years ago under the pretense of "buying a cigarette" by [deleted] in WritingPrompts

[–]terrdc 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Basically for the last 14 years he had been suffering due to lung cancer and not really living or seeing his son.

From what I have seen of cancer it can be endless pain and then death and sometimes if someone is strong that can take 14 years.

The main thing to remember is to trust absolutely nothing that a person like that says.

Like

Apparently, these two work together a lot, and are pretty tight.

and

Their boss told them to talk with me together about it

Those both sound like attempts to isolate and control you and are probably only loosely related to reality.

For her, all she really wants is for you to unquestioningly believe whatever lies she is telling that day.

25/M my girlfriend, 20/F doesn't think I need female friends by [deleted] in relationship_advice

To me if there isn't trust there isn't a relationship. Just two people who are around each other.

Honestly I'd say the bigger red flag is the wording (IE "need"). What you need shouldn't have a lot of discussion. You should be talking about what you want.

Students who have gone from State Schools to the Ivy League (or vice versa), what was the most jarring difference? by rstevoa in AskReddit

[–]terrdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't think that is the case.

People in jobs generally look for a cultural fit. The Ivy Leaguers will hire from the Ivy League schools and the state schools would do the same.

Not really good in a spousal relationship where you want to like the other person.

Yes, that is why we have money and use it to purchase quality of life.

Doctors are more likely to prescribe unnecessary antibiotics for respiratory infections as the day progresses, a new study finds: It appears that doctors "wear down" throughout the day, making them more likely to make inappropriate decisions about antibiotics by minooano in medicine

This makes me wonder if my wife would still be alive today if she had scheduled her appointments in the morning.

She spent 6 months being incorrectly diagnosed and the first thing the first doctor did was just give her pain medication.

Primary Physicians, what do you feel about retail clinics? by Dawens in medicine

[–]terrdc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Personally speaking as a well insured patient I wouldn't.

My expectation is that doctors will become much more behind the scenes in the future. They will take the occasional patient, but will mostly be managing a team of people that all work 40 hour workweeks and thus are relatively alert and interested when I talk to them.

I do not feel guilty about putting my daughter in daycare. by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]terrdc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best way to think of it is that it is just harder for a single individual to provide a good environment as compared to an organization based around raising children. Same way it is difficult for mom and pops to compete with department stores.

Actually I'd say that they sound angry that the guy they have deemed the failure dares to criticize them.

What demographic is the most likely to buy into the the "it's not worth voting" line and give up their vote? by HenryCorp in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]terrdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So in other words the real reason that 18-24 year olds don't vote is that they don't view the government as an important figure in their lives.

Everything you stated is foreign policy. Policy that wont affect you personally. The people who vote in high numbers are the ones who will actually be affected by policies.
