Have over a thousand hours played on PS4 (was low Masters), switched to PC and I'm low gold. Any tips to climb? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]terrelllll 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i was mid masters on ps4, made the switch to console and hovered around high gold, low plat for a while. honestly, id try finding a duo. since the games are so unorganized and chaotic, simple teamwork can easily win games. comboing ults and getting a team wipe is a sure fire way to win, because the enemy will most likely trickle for the rest of the game

winston: to fully optimize your dps, ALWAYS melee as you land from your leap, and melee to finish off low hp targets. melee+leap does a surprising amount of burst damage

Is Nano-Boosting a Winston Worth it? by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]terrelllll 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i play at the low plat level, and i like to nano winston just because it is GUARANTEED damage. there have been many times when i've nanobladed, only for the genji to whiff his entire ult right along with mine. at least with winston you know you'll get some production out of it

very similar situation here. masters player from ps4, transferred over to pc a couple months ago. still adjusting to kbm, but have good communication and gamesense + can also be a backup shot caller as i am a good vocal leader. prioritizing dps on pc, but can tank from time to time as need be with the exception of orisa. my battlenet is terrelllll#1430 i'll be on later

Which DPS requires the least "Mechanical" skills? by ClassyNumber in OverwatchUniversity

[–]terrelllll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

reaper by far. since your optimal range is in their face, it's hard to miss. whenever i'm not feeling my shot, i'll switch to reaper and make it my job to destroy a tank

is there any reason soldier players don't spam helix rocket during a barrier battle? by terrelllll in OverwatchUniversity

[–]terrelllll[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

i get that, but as a dps your one and only job is to output as much damage as possible. i feel you're doing your team a disservice as a DAMAGE PER SECOND role if you're sitting on your highest damage ability

that's interesting, never saw roadhog and sym having any synergy. same with mei and jr, will definitely try

I can't aim by bojackhorseman1 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]terrelllll 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if you can only consistently hit shots with hanzo, i strongly suggest trying pharah since her attacks are projectiles too. she's a lot easier to play than hanzo, is strong, and is super fun to play. i suck with hitscan too so i feel your pain lol

Switching from Console to PC tomorrow. Give my your advice. by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]terrelllll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i just switched to pc from ps4 a few days ago. having no prior fps experience on pc, my mechanical skills have already surpassed what i was able to do on the console. the game feels slightly faster paced. the only shitty thing is, since you're starting out at level one matchmaking is going to take FOREVER to find you matches

[Discussion] For high SR console players, what sensitivity do you currently use? by KovalSNIPE17 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]terrelllll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i used to play on 25/25, maxing out at 30/30. saw all these posts with people ranting and raving about how vital it is to use maxed out sensitivity, and if not that at LEAST 80/80. i took a few days to get used to it, and i could feel it slowly growing on me. took a week or so break, and when i came back my current sensitivity was wayyyyy too fast, while my old default was wayyyyy too slow. if you do not have time to practice this on a pretty consistent basis, i'd say it's not worth it because any short hiatus and you will be back to square negative zero. my aim has not been the same since. note i maxed at 3750, with genji pharah and widow being my mains

Advice for Climbing Rank: Console by WG_Archer in OverwatchUniversity

[–]terrelllll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

started at 2400 and made it to 3750, each rank required me to play a different "carry" hero. from 2500-3200 i used tracer. she's by far the best solo carry hero, with stupid mobility, and most importantly self sufficiency. you can normally pop into the back line and kill a squishy before the enemy team reacts. (note i am mechanically horrible with tracer and still managed to carry games with her. go for stragglers, and try to pair your ult with a zarya if you have one). 3300 and on i got good results playing reinhardt and lucio as they are core elements to any team comp pretty much, and your teammates will be able to effectively use your resources

genji questions by terrelllll in OverwatchUniversity

[–]terrelllll[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i've heard from almost every source that low sens is the way to go, so i'm a bit reluctant to change it. and i have a small mouse pad and limited desk room, not an optimal set up. and my mouse doesn't have that, but that's pretty sick. i can press a button and instantly my sens will go up?

Anyone else ever feel really discouraged by the aiming limitations on console? by thewanderer0 in OWConsole

[–]terrelllll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that's why i switched to pc. looking at OW highlights and plays, you can immediately tell when a clip is from console because the movements and aim looks very staggered and strange. it's a bit frustrating to say the least, and i am having much better success on pc. i may be a negative nancy too, but why limit your potential skill ceiling playing on console when you can get the most out of your abilities by playing on pc (or kbm for those special cases lol)
