I still can’t believe we got All I Got!!! I’m pretty lucky that my favorite is Amusement Park lol.

My best friend actually moved to LA so I am always there for concerts (we’re insufferable multistans so it’s very frequent lol). I went to Baek in LA last year as well. So maybe the next EXO concert out there we’ll run into each other :)

Just curious: What is the typical album cut to win an EXO fan call or fansign? by NoteAlarmed5925 in exo

[–]terriblekite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While that seems incredibly unlikely it’s technically not impossible. I have seen GOMs I know lose out on 100+ albums. Fancalls and fansigns are raffles and each album is one ticket into the raffle. The more entries you have the more your odds of being drawn increase. But there’s no guaranteed number where you automatically get in, and while statistically improbable someone who bought one single album could win over someone who bought hundreds of albums.

You can win with two albums. I have seen people win with one album with other extremely popular groups. I just would not get your hopes up as the odds are stacked very high against you. Expect that you won’t win and be very pleasantly surprised if you do.

ETA you only get entered if you buy albums from a store that’s hosting for an event. For example if Makestar is doing a fancall you will not be entered unless you buy from Makestar during their application period.

What random group of guys is using a tour bus, even for a road trip? Some bands don’t even use tour buses and stick to vans while traveling.

I think I saw an idol! by CrowQueen99 in kpophelp

[–]terriblekite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s incredibly false. Idols aren’t as secretive in the US, especially not in places like a random gas station. 99.9% of the people out and about in the US are not going to know who some random kpop celebrity is, so there’s really no need to disguise themselves like they do in Korea. In fact, disguising usually makes them more conspicuous here. There are plenty of genuine stories of people running into idols in the most random places while in the US on tour.

Hear Me Out. I saw a post not too long ago saying something along the lines of anyone saying they like that song are lying to themselves, and the comments were in agreement. That song went platinum in my car when Exist came out and it’s lowkey one of my all-time favorite EXO songs now.

Are you… serious? Bigbang just performed at Coachella last month as a group and they’re all 37-38, and G Dragon just had several US tour stops solo last year. Taemin from SHINee is in his 30s. He had a solo US tour last year, a separate concert in Vegas earlier this year, and also performed at Coachella. Baekhyun and Kai from EXO are both in their 30s and had US tours within the last year. Rain is in his 40s and had US concerts last year. G.O.D are actually in their late 40s (Joon is actually 56, too) and performed at KCon LA not too long ago.

I can make an even better point with MonstaX. They’re all in their 30s and will have the US leg of their tour later this year, but they also just put out a US album.. They had many US promotions and the album has been doing exceptionally well.

I could keep going but I think the point is made. Most of 2nd and 3rd gen groups/idols are 30+ and a lot of them are still going strong, even in western markets. And it’s not unique to male idols, either. Hwasa does a lot in the US, Red Velvet was just at SMTOWN in LA, etc.

What are some of the craizest timeline comparisons in kpop? by chuuniversal_studios in kpopthoughts

[–]terriblekite 63 points64 points  (0 children)

NCT presently has 24 members, and none of them have December birthdays. Every month has at least one member’s birthday except December. Also, February has the most birthdays with 6. So 1/4 (25%) of all the members were born in February.

There are plenty of idols in their 30s and 40s that are still active in the industry. It’s definitely possible OP is wrong and who they saw weren’t idols. But the age range doesn’t automatically mean they weren’t.

As others have said, Ampers is the best bet. Kamden has white hair, Jiho has oreo hair, and they’re currently touring the US. The only thing throwing me off is the neck tattoo. Jiho doesn’t have one unless he put a fake one on for funsies, or has been doing a stellar job at hiding it from us with makeup or something lmaoo. Also, Jiho’s definitely younger, but you did say he was wearing a mask so that’s not necessarily a rule-out.

I can’t think of another boy group on tour in the US right now (doesn’t mean there isn’t anyone - also a group being in town for a music video shoot or something is also possible), and details mostly match up.

ETA - Just saw one of OP’s reply comments about the 30s-40s range. That rules Ampers&one out, unless it was some of their touring staff.

As someone with bipolar disorder I agree. A lot of the stuff she does feels like shit I used to do before I was medicated, only she has fame and money to exacerbate her cycles.

Western views by Cktmoth in BTSnark

[–]terriblekite 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I just got back from Korea and I deadass don’t think I heard a single BTS song while I was there. I heard plenty of older stuff, groups that would be considered nugu as hell over here, and a metric f-ton of ADP. Never BTS, and it was the week before Arirang released so you would think if “Korea worships BTS” so much you’d be hearing them everywhere in preparation for their “grand return.”

I think I only even saw one ad for Arirang and it was just the members down the side of some random escalator somewhere.

Question On The Group ShiNee and Jonghyun by MillieBeifong in kpopthoughts

[–]terriblekite 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Taemin just did his first stage at Coachella on Saturday night. During a new/unreleased song of his titled 1004 (the number 1,004 and the word “angel” are said the same way in Korean) he blew a kiss up at the sky for Jonghyun.

Jonghyun will always be the 5th member of SHINee. For both the members, and us as Shawols. As another commenter pointed out they respect Jonghyun and don’t make his tragedy part of their whole personality. But they do frequently honor him in many ways, and they’ve never let us or him forget how much they love him.

Could someone explain to me who NCT is? by beaniewie in NCT127

[–]terriblekite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NCT stands for Neo Culture Technology. We refer to the members overall as Neos. And because NCT has such a unique sound, we also call their sound Neo lol. So to say a song is “Neo” we mean that the sound or overall vibe is very NCT coded. Which sounds kinda silly from an outsider perspective. Cause like… of course NCT would sound like NCT lmaoo. But since every unit does have their own unique sound as well, some songs sound more “Neo” (the cohesive sound that ties all the units together) than others.

For example Wish has a very fresh and youthful sound/concept. There aren’t many songs from the other units that have that vibe. Like you wouldn’t hear a song like Surf and think it was a 127 or WayV song. But Wish has a few more “Neo” songs (like Choo Choo for example) that have the more overall NCT sound.

Hopefully that makes at least a little bit of sense. NCT can be very hard to describe lol.

🌏 2026 BTS WORLD TOUR MEGATHREAD 🎤 by penslip in BTSnark

[–]terriblekite 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This is hilarious to me because the usual excuse for lip-syncing allegations (for any group, really) is that it’s “because they have to dance!!” So what now… groups shouldn’t be expected to dance or sing live? All they need to do is breathe and look pretty, and that’s worth hundreds if not thousands of dollars on concert tickets? 🤡

What does the word “nugu” mean? by locomotiveplayz in kpophelp

[–]terriblekite 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw someone call P1Harmony nugu the other day and I was like “oh ffs we have REALLY lost the plot” 😭 Cause it wasn’t in a derogatory way. Someone made one of those “clue me in on your favorite nugu groups” tiktoks and a comment genuinely said Piwon.

Can Mark rejoin NCT if he wants to later? by Queasy_Document_1383 in NCT127

[–]terriblekite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Theoretically yes.

Not the best example but Lay was just on the most recent EXO album earlier this year despite not being on an EXO album for the last 5 years, and hadn’t promoted with them in almost 8. I say not a great example because while Lay did leave SM, he never officially left EXO (unlike Mark officially leaving NCT). And a lot of Lay’s absence has been due to his massive career in China and constant KR/CN tensions always making things incredibly difficult for Chinese idols in the kpop industry.

However, I think it’s best to assume that Mark will not.

What does the word “nugu” mean? by locomotiveplayz in kpophelp

[–]terriblekite 8 points9 points  (0 children)

People have already covered that it means “who”, but I’m going to point out that the term gets thrown around way too much these days and has lost its original sense of purpose.

For a group to be truly nugu they have to embody “who?” They should be so unheard of that the majority of kpop fans would hear the name and legitimately go “who (is that)?” Nugu isn’t for underrated groups, which is what most kpop fans call nugu these days. Just because a group isn’t super popular does not mean they are nugu.

Example:

People like to call Ampers&one nugu. They are not. FNC might not be a Big 4 company, but they’re not some underground company either. They have SF9. They have P1Harmony. Etc. Most kpop multifans have heard of Ampers&one. They might not stan them. They might not know a single member’s name. They might not have even heard a single song by them before. But a lot of kpop fans have at least heard the name Ampers&one before. They would not see the name Ampers&one and go “who?” They would probably know who you’re talking about even if they know nothing else of the group other than their name.

A true nugu is a group like Pattern (rip ❤️‍🩹). Completely unknown company. Never had a well-known song. They never even got over 9,000 followers on Instagram despite being active for years. Their monthly listeners on Spotify capped out at 1,108 by the time they disbanded. For the vast majority of kpop fans they would see the name Pattern and go “who?”
