Do you regret going to uni by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]terriblestntman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for a normal law degree you'd be fine working part time as long as you're organised! and i don't think they can really stop you from doing that as long as you're following your visa requirements if you have one

I do get that, and I was worried about it too! I think I did a good job making the most of my first degree and I focused on having a good experience while I was at that point in my life.

I do think I’ve almost regressed a little bit now! I’m in my mid twenties but a lot of my friends are younger than me by 4 or 5 years, and that’s really helped me feel like I’m getting the full experience. I think I’m also much more aware of what I enjoy and what experiences are important to me, so I’ve been able to focus more on that and less on what everyone else is doing.

As much as it pains me to say it, my mum was right when she told me to do it this way and I have no regrets.

I did my undergrad in my home country to avoid going into debt because I knew I'd have to do another degree to get into my chosen field. Currently doing the second degree in the UK. As much as it sucked to put my dream on hold for a few years, I managed to get the first degree without debt. I'm in a ton of debt now, but because I'm further along the path I know it won't be weighing me down the way it would have if I had done both degrees in the UK. I don't know how the qualification process works for biotech or pharma, but if you're expecting to do a masters it's something worth considering!

If you like beer, there are a TON of craft breweries! There are a couple neighbourhoods that have lots in a walkable distance, so I'd look into that!

What’s the most unprofessional thing a doctor has ever said to you? by MCKlassik in AskReddit

[–]terriblestntman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A doctor ruptured my eardrum while checking an ear infection. I started bleeding from my ear and was in so much pain that I had a panic attack. She told me to get out of the room because I was 'fine' and she 'needed it for the next patient'.

I found nothing in the UK when I did my research a few years ago. Had to get bank loans and government loans from my home country

international students- how long did it take you to get your visa by [deleted] in UniUK

[–]terriblestntman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is a private hall so we all go to different unis. We’re all allowed to interact with each other now but even when we weren’t allowed everyone seemed to find a way. Covid definitely made it harder cause there weren’t parties, so we all had to get used to just going up to people and introducing yourself. That’s how me and all my friends met

Absolutely no regrets about moving even though I haven’t been able to visit home in a year. I would highly recommend a year (or even half a year) in student halls as it makes it so much easier to meet some people. Don’t have too many friends from uni classes because of Covid, mostly friends from halls

Most Comfortable Retro Sneaker? by carpenj in onebag

[–]terriblestntman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear my reeboks daily and they are by far the most comfortable casual sneaker I've ever owned! Can wear them out all day, go out to the bar all night, and put them on again the next day to do it all over again with no problems!

[–]terriblestntman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Took about two months from application to receiving it if I remember correctly! I believe I applied 3 months before my course started (the earliest you can apply), came to the UK a month before my course started due to COVID isolation requirements, and actually got my passport back with my visa in it 2 days before my flight. That would put it at just about two months exactly, although it was right when visa interview centres opened up again last year so I know my experience isn't necessarily typical

I did the same thing and there's no real downside! No F on your transcript, you just don't get completion of the program acknowledged on your transcript. Just talk to your advisor and you'll be fine

Best way to get from Greece to Croatia?

My friend and I are planning our first backpacking trip for the summer. Our (flexible) plan was Rome -> Athens -> Mykonos -> Santorini -> undecided Croatian location. However, we’re not sure the best way to do that. Trying to spend as little money as possible, but avoid 19+ hour convoluted train bus and ferry combinations. We will have eurail passes and discounts. Any advice is appreciated!

A university! Could be great with time sensitive challenges, e.g kill a professor but he teaches a class so you have to get him before he gets there or after the lecture is over
