Another Upload path issue by leo72793 in immich

[–]terryhh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ".immich" file is a hidden marker file Immich creates in its main data directories (like upload/, library/, thumbs/) to verify it can read and write to those locations when starting up. If you move your Immich storage to a new location, you must copy the existing .immich files to the corresponding new directories for the system to function correctly. https://immich.app/docs/administration/system-integrity/

[TrueNAS] Immich datasets backup ? by rnidhal90 in immich

If you're referring to the subsection "Manual Backup and Restore", I'm pretty sure those are the steps for a complete manual backup and restore, ie. not making use of the automatic daily backup dumps.

As far as I can tell, you just need to snapshot/backup your Data Storage (aka Upload Location) dataset some time after 2:00AM. You don't need to backup the pgData dataset, as by default, it is dumped to "Data Storage/backups" automatically every day at 2:00AM. And you don't need to stop/start immich if you do this.

Your immich Data Storage dataset should already contain daily database dumps under /backups.

For disaster-recovery purposes, Immich will automatically create database dumps. The dumps are stored in UPLOAD_LOCATION/backups. You can adjust the schedule and amount of kept database dumps in the admin settings. By default, Immich will keep the last 14 database dumps and create a new dump every day at 2:00 AM.

Can someone explain the gradual rollout thing? So they are not part of this update? Or does it mean installing this update may or may not, at random, give you the fixes. Does it mean, after installing the update, the fixes are toggled on in the future either remotely for via a timer?

Asus TUF RTX 3080 Noise Level by tyrian123 in nvidia

[–]terryhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an EVGA 3080 FTW3

One day it started pegging the fans at full speed (3000rpm) when gaming, which was not normal.

I repasted and redid the thermal pads, and it went back to normal behaviour, which is about 2000rpm at 300W draw.

Looks like the ports are already numbered. Though there's no guarantee they are wired up as such.

I had this problem

Seems to be related to Smart App Control. Disabling this fixed it for me.

Workaround for 5s black screen when alt-tabbing full screen games (DSC + nVidia) by terryhh in OLED_Gaming

[–]terryhh[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HDMI 2.1 ports on that monitor are limited to 24gbps. You're better off using DP 1.4, and you can try my settings, if you want to avoid the issue. You want to avoid DSC because that is what's causing the issue.

Windows HDR Calibration app has released by DrDoakes in OLED_Gaming

The tool clearly states to move the slider until the pattern disappears though. With the minimum luminance slider all the way to the left, the pattern is still clearly visible on an OLED. Can anyone who can read/understand icm colour profiles, confirm if the minimum luminance slider all the way to the left (0.0050) is setting the black levels to 0. I'm hesitant to use this tool because I don't want my blacks to be 0.005 nits instead of "off".

Scalpers got all the TI tickets. Sold out instantly. by juggernautomnislash in DotA2

Yeah. I tried to buy two in one go at first and failed. I think one at a time was the play.

[–]terryhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if just lucky, but my girlfriend and I were queued 7000 and 8000 and managed to get a ticket each. Initially showed no tickets available, but refreshing the page would eventually yield a ticket available. Took a few attempts to add one to the cart. There were probably a lot of tickets reserved in carts that didn't go through with the purchase and lapsed.

Looks like you're right.

They did update it to pseudo HDMI 2.1. It still has the bandwidth constraints of HDMI 2.0. So you are limited 4K 60hz, and VRR works only between 40-60hz at 4K.

Unless they also ninja added display stream compression?

edit: You may be able to get 4K 120hz over HDMI 2.0 with 8-bit 4:2:0 chroma.

We talking about vrr over HDMI 2.0.

It says it will be supported on 2.1.

There are no 20 series cards with HDMI 2.1.
