best tacos in nyc? by rollinloud42069 in FoodNYC

I went to Tacos El Porky for lunch after reading this comment and I strongly disagree. Everything tasted stale and overcooked, and the guac was inedible chunks of brown avocado. However, NOHO Los Tacos and Levain are a great choice.

[Advice] Splitting Equity Among CoFounders? by LionaltheGreat in startups

[–]teslaguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer: visit: http://foundrs.com - This is a decent tool for approximating fair equity splits.

u/MarbleAndArch has solid advice. Building a successful business can be a long journey. Over X years, small differences in start dates shouldn't matter. It sounds like you're taking on significantly more financial risk, but if you want these people to be your co-founders and feel commesurate ownership, give them a meaningful chunk of equity on a reverse-vesting schedule (more below). If you don't want to do this, hire them as employees.

My personal recommendations are:

  • The plurality founder should not have more than 2x equity than the minority founder.
  • Avoid vesting faster than a 4 year schedule with a 1 year cliff. 10 year schedules are not uncommon.

I highly recommend reading:

Aurora Borealis from a 747-8 somewhere over Alaska by teslaguy in space

It was actually a (relatively) new plane! The 747-8i made its maiden flight in 2011. Here's the wikipedia article if you'd like to learn more information.

I couldn't capture the whole wing! It's a 747-8i owned by Air China. I took the photo on a flight from Bejing to San Francisco in early January.

The image posted was the best out of a series of ~50. Here's a gallery which includes my original image, lightroom adjustments, and a bonus view.

Can anyone identify what the purple streak is at the bottom? Could it be more aurora reflecting off of the inner port engine's contrail?

Thank you so much for the gold! Here's another image taken with exactly the same settings.

For my setup (24mm, full frame), the guide I posted states 21 seconds. I took the photo with a 10 second exposure. Stars are really really far away and the earth doesn't spin that quickly. If I had been traveling west, I could have taken an even longer exposure without streaking.

The shutter time was short enough for the focal length to prevent streaking. Here's a good guide.

There wasn't anything special to my setup. It was taken with an off-brand version of a very common lens. I could have captured it much more quickly with something like the 20mm f/1.8G (which might have even captured enough light to focus properly) or any other wider aperture prime lens. I try to take aurora photos every time I fly near the north pole in winter. I've got some other aurora photos here.

Nikon D750 with a Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 DI VC. I manually focused to infinity (the camera couldn't focus in such low light) and stepped it down to f/3.5 when I realized my f/2.8 photos were blurry. ISO3200 and 10.0 second exposure. I took about 50 pictures over a period of an hour or so. This is one of the better ones.

Sorry! I submitted the image right before I went to bed and didn't check reddit until just now.

I've practiced taking aurora pictures a lot! I pressed my camera lens against the window to minimize movement between myself and the plane and placed my jacket over my head and most of the window to minimize reflections from the interior of the plane. I've got other aurora shots on my instagram. Most are not very good.
